Strange Dreams
A/n: This is going to be a bit of a short chapter. This will be somewhat important later in the story, but for now, I just want to get something out quickly since I won't have much time for the next few weeks. Anyways, sorry it's short, I just have a bunch of trips and school stuff coming up.
Your eyes snap open.
You look around at a bustling marketplace. It doesn't look like any you've seen before.
Instead of sandy dunes, there are large, towering mountains covered in green trees.
The air smells familiar. Almost...salty. You turn around, only to face the edge of a rocky cliff overlooking...the ocean.
It's all so familiar. The waves crashing against the shore as children run and play in the market behind you.
The wind whips your hair in all different directions as you smile.
A laugh bubbles up through your throat as you spread your arms out. You knew this place.
It was something you'd longed for, hoped for, dreamed about.
You hear footsteps behind you. Crunching along the gravely dirt path. You turn your head as a hand is placed on your shoulder.
A woman is standing there, in a knee length white dress, with a ruffled collar, and sleeves that flared out at the elbow, creating a flowing river of fabric that rippled with the breeze.
Her short, golden curls framed her face as they sparkled in the sunlight.
"You are so brave," She whispered.
"I know this is a place you long to return to, to remember, but now is not the time." She pressed her delicate hand to your cheek, in a loving, but hesitant manner.
"It's time for you to go now. But I promise, you are not alone." As she uttered those words, the world began to dissolve around you. With one last look, the woman stepped away and disappeared into the darkness.

You woke to the moonlight streaming in from the barred window.
Your (e/c) eyes flickered around the room as you looked for any sign of Jamil, guards, or other slaves. There was nothing. It was silent.
You tried to recall the dream you had, but you couldn't. All that remained in your memory was the faint smell of salt and a few whispered words.
Closing your eyes, you drifted back into a dreamless sleep.
