Caravan (pt 2)
Recap: The ground gave way beneath the girl and before you could even process the situation you had leapt towards the child, securing you hand around her wrist.
As soon as you stepped forward to grab the girl, the ground beneath you gave way. Panicking, you reached your hand out, grasping for something, anything, to grab onto.
"Mina!" The child's mother cried. She was pushed slightly aside by the blond haired boy who had occupied your mind for most of the day. His hand stretched out, trying desperately to grab your own.
Your fingers brushed against each other before both the mother and the boy were pushed aside by Budel, who was screaming something about his "precious wine".
Your ears began to ring as the outstretched hand was jerked away from you. You felt yourself falling faster and faster as you tightened your grip on the girl.
The giant plant was getting closer and you knew it was only a matter of milliseconds before you would be swallowed.
Feeling yourself slip away as you crashed into the water you took one last breath before your vision went dark. It was an odd feeling. You could tell your body was struggling against the plants tendrils and was fighting to keep the small girl, Mina, afloat, but your mind and conscious were somewhere different.
"(Y/n)!"
Who was calling for you?
"You're gonna be alright."
Why is that voice so familiar?
"Don't lose that light
The light in your eyes
Can't you see the world is changing?
Don't lose that hope no, don't let it go
Can't you see the world is changing?"
I know that song...
"You're may forget me, but always remember where you come from."
...
Your eyes snapped open to the sound of screaming. Feeling yourself continuing to be pulled down by the tendrils, you lifted Mina's small frame above your own. You felt her gasping for breath as you were pulled further down by the monstrous plant. Just as you were about to give up struggling, the top of the plant was ripped open by a giant blue...djinn?
Before you could comprehend the situation, the tentacles released their grip and the water level went down. You gasped as you took in a breath of fresh air. You looked up at your savior.
"Come on, hurry!" The blond haired boy cried, his hand outstretched.
'This is the second time he's tried to save me. First, he almost stopped me from falling, and now...'
A small smile stretched across your face as you grasped his hand. The boy helped you stand up, and a small look of recognition crossed his features. He opened his mouth as if he were going to say something, but closed it when the plant began to awaken.
"Dammit, that wasn't enough wine!" The boy shouted as one of the larger tendrils wrapped around the dijnn's blue leg, causing their knees to buckle.
"Ugh, shoot!" The blond haired boy cried as he flung you and Mina out of the plant's gapping mouth.
"Wait!" You cried. But it was too late. You watched in horror as the plant snapped closed and the tendrils pull the boy down.
'Do something, do something, do something!' You kept telling yourself.
'Move!' You were telling yourself, but nothing was happening. Looking upward at the rest of the Caravan, you noticed the blue haired boy looking down at you.
'Please.' You mouthed to him. He was far away, so you couldn't be sure, but you thought you saw him smile and nod slightly before pulling off the turban that was previously wrapped around his head.
You felt yourself slipping away again, only this time, you smiled. For some weird reason, you felt you could trust the blue haired boy to save his blond haired companion.
...
When you finally came too, you were back on the surface with the rest of the Caravan. Mina had been reunited with her mother, and Morgiana had apparently stayed by your side the entire time you were unconscious.
You looked up towards the setting sun, where the two boys, who you learned from snippets of conversation between the merchants and workers of the Caravan were named Aladdin and Alibaba, were both standing on top of Aladdin's turban discussing something.
Watching them shake hands, you almost smiled. They were going to be okay. The short burst of happiness was cut short when one of the guards grabbed you by your hair and threw both you and Morgiana back into the slave cart.
Through the barred windows, you could see the two boys fly away into the starlit sky. You wanted to feel sad. You wanted that feeling of hopelessness to return just as it had during your first encounter with them. However, instead, a new feeling found it's way into your mind.
Anger.
Not at Aladdin or Alibaba, or Morgiana, but rather at Budel, at Jamil.
That anger quickly turned into something more.
A strong and fiery determination. You were not going to sit here and rot any longer.
Maybe it was the strange dream, or maybe it was that taste of freedom that Aladdin and Alibaba gave you, but you knew there was a life worth living beyond the shackles that remained around your ankles.
And you were going to find it. It didn't matter if it could get you killed, you knew you had to be up there, in the sky, with the two boys. Or sailing the sea, or...
You gasped as a sharp pain seemed to cut through your skull.
"always remember where you come from."
'Where did I come from anyways?' You thought back to the strange dream.
The sharp pain had become nothing more than a dull throb, but you couldn't help but wonder what exactly it was.
Taking one more look at the sky, you sighed. It had been a long day, and you could once again feel yourself slipping into unconsciousness. As you fell asleep, a single question crept into your mind.
'Why was the voice in my dream so familiar?'
A/N:
Phew! I finally got that one done. I'm really sorry for making you guys wait so long. I PROMISE I HAVE NOT ABANDONED THIS STORY! I've been guilty of doing this in the past, but I'm trying my hardest not to abandon this one. Especially due to the lack of Magi content out on the internet. I really want to start some other stories as well, most, if not all, would be reader inserts for stories that don't have much fan stuff out there. I just really want to provide people with something, because believe me when I say I know exactly how it feels to search up something in the search bar and have like, only four stories come up.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed that chapter, ya'll are wonderful!
Thanks so much for reading, and don't forget to comment. I love hearing your feedback! Also, would you be interested in me doing some oneshot books or fanfiction like this one (which follows the whole story) of other anime/books/shows/webstoons/etc. that don't have much content on the internet? If so, which ones? I'd love to hear what you guys want!
Wow, okay, that was a long authors note, but who cares? Stay awesome, and I love you guys!
~Alexx
(Also, the lyrics are from a song called Lights, by Jake Nauta. I would've put a video, but my computer was being glitchy and wouldn't let me.)
