Chapter 22

Tim and Chance dance slowly with their arms around one another. Talking sweetly to each other. Chance feels a hard poke in his back.

"Can I cut in?" A female voice asks.

Chance looks over his shoulder at a very drunk Jenika. "Uh, no, you can't." He answers as he pulls his lover closer into his arms.

"Go away, Jenika." Tim adds.

"I think I have the right to dance with my own husband." Jenika says, placing her hands on her hips.

"Ex-husband." Chance replies. "And no you don't."

Jenika steps back and stares Tim up and down. "Have you lost weight? What are you doing, trying to get me to come back to you?"

Tim huffs as he steps away from his lover to glare at his ex.

Patch grabs his wife's hand and pulls her through the gathering crowd that was watching the happenings on the dance floor.

"Tim, baby, she's not worth it." Chance says, trying to calm Tim's anger.

"Honey, please, I wouldn't want you back if you were covered with all the Bar-b-que in Texas." Tim growls.

Anger flashes in Jenika's blue eyes as she raises her hand and slaps Tim hard across the face.

"JENIKA!!" Darrell yells as he pushes through the crowd and grabs her by the arm. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!"

"THIS B*STARD AIN'T GONNA TALK TO ME LIKE THAT!!" She yells as she tries to pull away from her boyfriend's grip.

"DARRELL, YOU NEED TO PUT A LEASH ON THAT B*TCH OF YOURS OR I'LL SLAP A RESTRAINING ORDER ON HER SO FAST IT WILL MAKE HER D*MN HEAD SPIN!!" Tim yells in anger as Chance tries to pull him back some.

"We could have made it work, Tim." Jenika says, lowering her voice as she dramatically wipes her eyes.

"Bring on the waterworks, b*tch." Kirstie mumbles, shaking her head.

"All I wanted was a baby and you weren't even man enough to provide me with that." Jenika adds, covering her face as if she was crying.

"Oh, cry me a river." Tim chuckles. "I would have caught onto to your money-hungry scheme eventually."

"Some mom you will turn out to be." Chance says, shaking his head. "You can barely stand up because you're so d*mn drunk not giving a f*ck what that alcohol is doing to that baby."

"Don't get me started on you, Chance. You were just waiting for Tim and me to start having problems so you could get the chance to get him in bed." Jenika says, crossing her arms across her chest. "Why else would you move to Florida?"

"Tim had already filed for divorce from your sorry ass before I even made the decision to move." Chance argues.

"Darrell, I don't know you..." Kirstie speaks up. "But if you have any sense at all, you would file for custody of your child and leave her before she destroys you like she tried to do Tim. It's obvious what kind of mother she's going to be."

"And I've heard through the grapevine that you're already having to work overtime to fill her money-hungry needs." Austin adds.

"It's all about the money to her, Darrell. If anyone knows that, it would be you." Tim says, turning his eyes to the tall bearded man. "And she wanted a baby. You gave her that. So when someone richer comes along, I'm pretty sure she'll throw you aside."

"If I may put my two-cents worth in before I ask you to break this up...." A bouncer says. "Blondie here has been seen a lot here recently, alone."

"What?!! They're all lying, Darrell!" Jenika says, looking up to meet his glaring eyes. "Don't believe them."

Darrell sighs heavily as he hangs his head. After a few seconds, he raises his eyes to meet Tim's.

"I'm truly sorry, Tim, for what I've done to you. I know I don't deserve your forgiveness but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry." Darrell says honestly.

"Seriously???!!" Jenika asks as she raises her eyebrows.

"Yes, seriously." Darrell nods. "I want you to pack your sh*t and get out of my house, Jenika. I'm not going to let you do to me what you did to him. We're done." He turns and walks away.

Tim smirks as he looks at the shocked look on his ex-wife's face.

"So how does it feel, Jenika, when karma BITES you in the ass?" Tim asks with a raised brow.

"F*CK YOU, TIM!! F*CK YOU!!" She screams as she starts to slap him again but is stopped by the bouncer as he pulls her off the dance floor and toward the exit.

"Well, this has turned out to be a great night." Patch chuckles.

"That it has." Tim laughs as they sat back down at the table. He motions the waitress over to order another round of drinks.

"How's your cheek, Sweetie?" Chance asks as he rubs his thumb across the bruise.

"Hurts like hell but I guess it was worth it. Seeing the look on her face when Darrell dumped her ass was priceless." Tim says as he takes a sip of his water.

"Reckon she'll try to cause any more trouble while we're here?" Kirstie asks.

"I wasn't kidding about putting a restraining order on her if I need to. I will not stop coming to Texas because of her. My family lives here." Tim answers. "Adam's doctor is here."

"So does that mean that I can't come to Texas to kick her ass after the baby is born?" Kirstie asks with a pout.

"There wouldn't be a restraining order between you and her." Tim answers with a smile.

"But, Baby. You can't come here just looking for trouble." Patch signs. "You have to let her make the first move."

"Yeah, that way it would be self-defense." Chance nods. "We don't want to bail you out of jail."

"I don't think you'd like it very well there." Tim chuckles.

Tim feels his phone vibrate in his pocket. Trying to dig his phone from his pocket, he leans against Chance.

"Something wrong?" Chance asks.

"I got a text and can't get my phone out of my pocket." Tim chuckles.

"You think it's her?" Patch asks.

"No, it's mom." Tim says with a worried tone. He chuckles after opening the text. It was a picture of Adam and Emily crying. The text read, 'Mufasa died'.

"Is everything okay with the kids?" Kirstie asks.

"See for yourself." Tim smiles as he hands her his phone.

"Awwww." Kirstie pouts. "That's so sweet."

"But their crying. How can that be sweet?" Patch asks with a puzzled look. "What does that say?"

"It says, 'Mufasa died', he was a character in the movie they went to see." Kirstie explains.

"Someone dies and it's sweet?" Patch asks, even more confused.

"Nate and I went to see that movie and we both got emotional on that part." Austin says.

"We need to go to the movies." Chance says as he looks around at his lover. "We used to go all the time."

"Well, that was different." Tim smiles.

"How was it different?" Kirstie asks.

"We went to the drive-in in his old van and parked on the back row." Tim chuckles. "And needless to say, we didn't watch the movie."

"Ah, yeah. By the way, I still have that old van. It's parked at mom's house." Chance sighs with a smile as he lays his head on Tim's shoulder. "Those were the days."
