Chapter 18
Chance chuckles quietly to himself as he sets the luggage on the floor of Tim's old room. Posters of The Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, Billy Joel, and other artists adorn the wall. Along with posters of the Houston Astros and the Dallas Cowboys.
A Houston Astros comforter covered the full-size bed.
"Don't laugh at my room." Tim says as he walks past his lover.
"It's ... it's cute." Chance says with a smile.
"Cute?" Tim replies with a raised brow. "There's nothing cute about the Astros. They're badass."
"I remember this poster." Chance says, laying his hand of the poster of The Oak Ridge Boys.
"You should. You were the one that bought it for me. We went to see them when they performed at the state fair while we were dating." Tim smiles as he walks up next to Chance.
"Yeah, we stood in line forever to get it autographed." Chance smiles at the memory as he slides his arm around Tim's waist.
"It was so f*cking hot that day." Tim chuckles as he leans into Chance as he stares at the poster.
"Yep, people were dropping like flies." Chance nods.
"Hey, you two." Dena says softly, smiling from the doorway. "I'll be starting dinner in about half an hour. Any requests?"
"I'll help." Tim says, turning to face his mom. "I'm on this diet and there are some things that I don't need to eat."
"You go help your mom and I'll unpack." Chance says as he lays the luggage on the bed.
"Deal. I hate unpacking." Tim chuckles as he joins his mom and heads downstairs to the kitchen.
"This room brings back a lot of memories." Patch signs before wrapping his arms around his wife's waist and kissing her softly.
"Beautiful memories." Kirstie smiles as she lovingly rubs her husband's cheek. "And I'm sure we'll make more while we're here." She adds with a smirk on her lips.
"And this time there is no Jenika to ruin our trip." Patch signs before turning to help unpack.
"Oh, I'm sure we'll run into her while we're here. Which is going to be quite interesting." She comments with a somewhat evil grin.
"How do you think she'll react to seeing Tim with Chance?" Patch asks.
"I'm sure she'll make a big scene about it." Kirstie answers. "And I'm sure she'll model her growing belly in front of Tim." After a brief silence, while they hang up their clothes, she speaks again. "So what do you want to do while we're here?"
"I'd like to see a real-life ballgame." Patch signs with a smile.
"That sounds fun." Kirstie nods.
"Hey, Mith Kit? Gandma Dena said dat dinna ith weady." Adam announces as he knocks on the door.
"Okay, Sweetie. We're on our way." Kirstie calls out to him.
"Great. I'm starving." Patch says after laying Dag on the bed.
"Go wash your hands, Kiddos." Tim was saying as the couple walks into the dining room.
"I alweady did." Adam says as Emily turns and skips to the bathroom.
"Really? Let me see." Tim says as he glances around at the man-child, who held up his partially dirty hands. "Did you bother to use soap?"
"No." Adam says as he looks at his hands. "Jut wader."
"It might help." Chance chuckles. "I think you might have missed a few spots."
"Otay." Adam nods as he runs to the bathroom.
"Oh, Dena, this all looks delicious." Kirstie says as she and Patch take a seat at the table.
"Thank you, but I had help." Dena smiles as she rubs her son on the back. "He's turned out to be a very good cook."
"I had to learn how to cook or Adam and I would have probably ended up with food poisoning or something." Tim says as he fixes Adam a plate.
"Really? That bad, huh." Chance replies.
"Jenika was fixing salad one night for supper. She picks a worm off one of the leaves and put the leaf back into the bowl without washing it or her hands." Tim says as he checks Adam's hands once again.
"Ewe." Kirstie says with a disgusting look on her face.
"Needless to say, I passed on the salad that night." Tim chuckles.
They begin to eat as they carry on an idle conversation about first one thing and then another. Getting caught up on the happenings in their lives.
"Tim?" Kirstie says after the conversation had gone quiet. "You think we might take in a ballgame while we're here? Patch is wanting to see one."
"A WEAL LIVE BALLGAME!?" Adam shouts with excitement. "I neber been to one!"
"I'm sure the Astros will play at home while we're here. I'll check their schedule. I haven't been to a game in ages." Tim smiles.
"Let me guess. Because of her?" Dena asks while stressing the word 'her'.
"Exactly." Tim nods.
"Dena, do you like baseball?" Kirstie asks.
"Do I. Where do you think Tim got the love of the game?" Dena laughs.
"We could make a family outing." Chance suggests.
"Are you sure? I don't want to intrude on you guys." Dena says.
"Ms. Dena, we don't expect you to sit home and babysit all the time while we go do something." Patch signs.
"Well, it does sound fun." Dena nods with a smile.
"Then I'll order us all some tickets." Tim says.
"YAY!!" Adam and Emily cheer and clap.
"Kirst? Do you think Patches would enjoy it? I can get tickets for two games." Tim says, looking at the small blonde.
"Patches loves everything." Kirstie giggles, rolling her eyes.
"Then two games it will be." Tim nods with a smile.
"YAY!!" Adam and Emily cheer and clap again.
"Honey, when is Adam's appointment with Dr. Pierce?" Chance asks.
"Next week." Tim answers.
"I hope he can git wid ob Coye." Adam says.
"Me too, Pumpkin." Tim nods as he takes the man-child by the hand. "But if it's going to harm you and Henry......" Tim trails off, giving Adam's hand a light squeeze.
"I undatand." Adam nods sadly.
"We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed, okay?" Chance adds, rubbing the blonde on the back. "Don't lose hope."
"I just got an idea of something that would be fun for the whole family." Tim smiles as he looks at the others. "We could go to Six Flags in San Antonio. We could get two day passes so both Patch and Patches could enjoy it."
"YAY!!!!" Adam and Emily cheer once again.
"How far is San Antonio from here?" Kirstie asks.
"It's about 288 miles, I guess." Tim says with a shrug of his shoulders as he glances around at his mom for confirmation. She nods in agreement.
"Oh, my God! I haven't been to Six Flags since I was about twelve or thirteen." Kirstie giggles.
"Cwis carried me oneth a wong time ago." Adam grins. "It wath tho muth pun."
"I honestly don't think that I've ever been to Six Flags." Chance says, shaking his head.
"Me neither. Cause I don't have a clue what a Six Flag is." Patch signs with a slight chuckle.
"Me neither, daddy." Emily replies, shaking her head.
"Ith a bigggg a moosement pawk." Adam smiles and nods.
"Sorry, Adam, but I don't know what a moosement pawk is." Patch had to spell out moosement pawk. He didn't know the sign language for that.
