Chapter 26
Tim clears his throat to get the two's attention.
"Did you thee dat, Tim? I beat him." Adam giggles.
"Yeah, I saw that, King Adam." Tim says with a chuckle.
"Okay, don't rub it in." Chance laughs.
"Pumpkin, you need to go get cleaned up before the other guests arrive." Tim says.
"Why we habin guesth?" Adam asks as he picks up his controllers and puts them away.
"We're having a cookout." Tim answers.
"Are you taying?" Adam asks.
"Yep, I wouldn't miss it for the world." Chance smiles at the man-child.
"YAY!!" Adam cheers as he hugs Chance before running to the bathroom to take a quick bath.
"Thank you." Tim says as he leans against the door-facing.
"For what?" Chance asks as he gets up from the floor.
"He gets a little lonely whenever Patches ain't around to play with. And I just can't get into these video games." Tim says with a shrug.
"You're welcome. So does that mean that I'm invited over whenever Patches ain't here?" Chance smiles as Tim chuckles and hangs his head.
"You know your welcome to come over anytime." Tim says as he looks up meeting Chance's eyes.
"Are you blushing?" Chance asks with a smile, tilting his head.
"What? No. Guess I got too much sun today." Tim says as he goes to Adam's closet to get him some clothes.
"If you say so." Chance chuckles.
"Hey, Adam? I got you some clothes laying on the bed!" Tim yells to the blond in the bathroom.
"OTAY!" Adam yells back.
Chance follows Tim out of the room and into the elevator. Once inside, he reaches over and presses the stop button. Tim gives him a questionable look.
"Okay, I ask the others and now I want to hear it from you. How are you doing?" Chance asks sincerely.
"I'm doing alright." Tim answers as he looks at the floor.
"Don't lie to me, Timmy." Chance says.
"I'm not." Tim says shaking his head. "Okay, I'm doing alright, most of the time. As long as I can keep this sh*t off my mind, I'm okay. I just want to get it over with. Things seem to be moving at a snail's pace."
"Divorces take time, Tim." Chance says as he reaches out and rubs Tim's shoulder. "Especially if there's one that's being a b*tch about it."
"I take it that your divorce went smoothly?" Tim asks.
"Yeah, it actually did. We both just wanted to end the marriage." Chance answers.
"That's good. Well, I meant that I'm glad that it went smoothly and you didn't have to go through all this." Tim says.
"I'm here for you, Tim." Chance says as he pulls his ex-lover into a hug. "I hope you know that."
"I know." Tim says as he relaxes in Chance's arms. He had forgotten how comforting Chance's hugs could be. "I'm glad you're here, Bama."
Chance smiles at the pet name that Tim had given him when they were together.
He pulls away from the hug and smiles at Tim. "Me too, Country."
As they walk back into the living room, they see Patch sitting on the couch flipping non-stop through the channels.
"Something wrong?" Tim asks.
"Kirstie left me." Patch pouts.
"WHAT!!?? WHAT THE F*CK!!?? WHAT HAPPENED??" Tim practically shouts as a look of shock comes over his face. He slowly sits down on the couch next to Patch.
"No!" Patch chuckles. "It's not what you're thinking. She's in the kitchen with her new friends."
"D*mn, Patch. Scare the sh*t out of somebody, why don't you." Tim laughs as he places his hand over his heart.
"Sorry." Patch laughs as he thought of the shocked look that was on Tim's face.
It was then that Tim heard the girls laughing in the kitchen.
The three men walk into the kitchen to see what was going on. The girls were preparing the side dishes for the cookout. Talking non-stop. Olena was finishing up a banana pudding that she had made while Emily waited patiently for any leftover vanilla wafers or bananas.
"You hadn't started the grill yet?" Kirstie asks as she looks up to see the men standing in the doorway.
"Uh, no." Tim answers, hanging his head as if he were in trouble and being scolded.
"Well, don't you think you need to?" Sami asks.
"God, I hate women." Tim mumbles as he turns and heads for the patio, causing Patch and Chance to laugh.
"What did he say?" Kirstie asks. She knew Tim well enough to know that he probably had something smart to say.
"Nothing." Chance answers quickly before turning to follow Tim and Patch outside.
"Okay, girls, we need a plan." Kirstie says as she turns to look at her new friends.
"A plan for what?" Olena asks as she slips Emily a cookie.
"To get Tim and Chance back together." Kirstie says as she works on the potato salad.
"You know, I was kinda thinking the same thing." Sami giggles.
"But do you think that either is ready to start a relationship? I mean, Chance is just recently divorced and Tim is just starting his." Olena replies.
"I haven't seen Tim actually smile in a very long time. I mean, an honest smile that actually reaches his eyes. Until today. And I believe it was because Chance was here." Kirstie says.
"Well, Chance did say that he had no idea that Tim was here in Pensacola. Maybe it was fate that brought him here." Olena says.
"I believe that Chance is still very much in love with Tim. You can just tell by the way he looks at him." Sami says as she begins to work on the salad.
"I've noticed that too." Kirstie nods. "And Tim gets a certain look on his face when you even mention Chance around him. It's hard to describe."
"So you think that Tim still has feelings hid away for Chance?" Olena asks.
"I believe so." Kirstie nods. "We just gotta figure out how to bring those feelings to the surface."
The girls hush as Adam walks into the kitchen. He was wearing a pair of shorts, a tee shirt and sandals with his hair tied back into a sloppy ponytail. He stops and stares at the two visitors.
"Hey, Sweetie. You looking for Tim?" Kirstie asks as she hands him a cookie.
"Yeah, but who are dey?" Adam asks as he takes the cookie.
"This is Olena. Remember, she took pictures at mine and Patch's wedding? And this is her friend, Sami." Kirstie answers as she brushes back some loose strands of Adam's hair.
"Otay, I wememba her now." Adam smiles and nods. "Ith Chance still hea?"
"Umhmm, he's outside on the patio with Tim and Patch." Kirstie says.
"I wike Chance. He nice." Adam smiles as he turns to leave as Kevin and Tori walk into the kitchen.
"Where you heading, Kiddo?" Kevin asks.
"Outthide to da patio. Tim, Mr. Patch and Chance are out dare." Adam answers.
"Chance?" Kevin asks with a raised brow as he looks at Kirstie.
"Umhmm, Chance." Kirstie answers with a huge smile and a wink.
"Okay? I think I'm going outside with Adam." Kevin says as he glances around at the girls, all were smiling mischievously. He had no idea what they had been planning. He wasn't even sure if he even wanted to know. He puts his arm around Adam's shoulder as they walk out of the kitchen.
"Chance? As in Tim's ex?" Tori asks as she begins to help prep the food.
"Yep." Kirstie nods.
"Okay, so what's the plan?" Tori giggles.
