Chapter 30
*Manohar Pov*
"Kalpana!" I whispered, staring at the locked door and immediately walked towards the owner's house.
And then heard a shocking statement. Will she really just go away? But where will she go when she doesn't have anyone here?
"Did she give any address?" I asked, but he shook his head and walked away while I took out my phone.
"Pick up!" I mumbled calling her, but she is not which I am not surprised to know.
Then I heard the ringing of it making me feel hope that she is calling, but when I glanced at the id, I saw it was from Mom.
"Yeah, Mom?" I asked her leaning on the car.
"She is no more." She replied and I clutched my phone.
"Oh!" I mumbled, not knowing what to say when I used to feel so anger, but now I don't know what to even feel when all I am thinking is where would Kalpana go.
"Come to the hospital, Manu. Jay... jay is like a statue now. You need to take care of all this." She said and I immediately stiffened.
"No, Mom! You know I can't do that and even if I do then it will be not from my heart. There must be someone he knows that can do that." I said shaking my head.
"No, Manu! They don't have any relatives and when I asked should I call his friends, he said he doesn't have any. You need to do this, Manu. Jay is neither your father nor his mother." She calmly said and I looked up.
"Fine!" I mumbled and hung up staring at the locked house.
Where have you gone, Kalpana? Please, just... just don't go too far. I took a few deep breaths before getting inside the car and drove off.
He is really like a statue! That's the first thought which entered my mind, when I walked towards Mom and him standing at the corridor.
"Talk to the doctors about taking the body and then we need to see for the cremation services too." Mom said and I nodded still staring at Jay.
"Should we place a service by which anyone who needs to see her can see?" I asked her but she turned to look at Jay.
"It is better if we do off the cremation. We don't know anyone and he is not in a state to talk. After a few days, we can put the service and hope he will be normal by then." She replied and I nodded accepting it before walking away to talk to the doctors.
"Jay!" I said for the millionth time, but he just stood there walking wherever we are taking him.
"Make sure he eats this." Mom said, placing a food parcel in my hand.
"Mom!" I mumbled, but she gave a stern expression and walked away to do some ritual of covering his mom with a saree and other things.
"Eat, Jay!" I said, but he didn't move and at the end, I pushed the mouth inside the mouth using the spoon and he took in chewing it with a lost expression.
"Did he cry?" I asked Mom to which she shook her head.
"Morning he did, but then he went to talk to her and she died before his eyes. Must have gone into shock." She explained.
"Shouldn't we take him to doctor?" I asked following the ambulance.
"I already did and the doctor said it happens." She replied and I sighed.
After everything was set, he finally blinked, but stood beside us calmly and then turned towards my Mom nodding before walking away holding the ashes pot.
"Will he be fine?" I asked her and she glanced at me with a surprise look.
"I don't hate him, Mom. I am angry at him." I replied, shaking my head.
"Why don't you stay with us, Jay?" she asked loudly hearing my words.
"No!" he mumbled and continued to walk.
"I will drop you." I said following him with Mom following me.
"No!" he said again and continued to walk towards the auto stand before getting into one.
"Just keep on checking on him." Mom said, but I stared at her.
"I need to search for her." I said and she frowned before realizing seeing my expression.
"Where did she go?" she asked frowning.
"She gets to know everything and she is angry." I replied and she frowned more.
"She must have thought of you as her good friend and feeling angry." She mumbled.
"No, Mom! I am not her good friend, but boyfriend." I said, looking away and immediately felt a slap making me hold my cheek.
"I know that you like her from all these months but I told you to tell her truth before doing anything." She said with an angry expression.
"She would have not looked at me twice if she knew everything." I mumbled.
"I can understand her leaving now. You deserve this, but I don't want her to be alone again with no one to take care of her. So, search for her and this time I will take care of her while you stay away until she forgives you." She ordered.
"No, Mom! I will not stay away. You already know I am selfish from the beginning and I am not going to change now." I said and walked away and heard her sigh before following me to the car.
"They both are my family." I added when she stared at me while I was driving but she didn't utter a word.
I am not going to lose any of them and all I need to do is search for her. I will find her for sure and make sure do anything she asks me to except for leaving her.
*Kalpana Pov*
"Come on! We are here." I heard Nipuna's voice and looked out only to gasp.
I was normal with the my first flight journey which I didn't show getting lost into Sudhir's excitement, but this... this is too much.
"What is this?" I asked, turning towards Nipuna who is sitting beside me after Sudhir.
"Home!" she replied, frowning.
Yeah, right! More like a mansion for god's sake. And what am I doing here? What was I thinking before deciding to leave with them?
"Kalpana! Trust me his family is not that bad and there will be we three angels in that house. So, everything will be fine." Nipuna said and I shook my head.
"Let me say that to Dileep." Aahil warned.
"As if he can do anything and by the way he is out of station." She said smirking getting down and I followed her suit.
"How did I forget that? Amrin's face always shows his absence." He said, shaking his head, holding my luggage along with the driver holding some who came to the airport to pick us up and we walked towards the door.
"Seriously? I am having fun here and you are talking about my sad face?" suddenly we heard a voice and glanced near the door to see a woman standing who seems to be heavily pregnant along with another woman.
"I will say this to Dileep." The other woman said shaking her head.
"Tell your best friend, whatever you wish. I need some space for breathing." She said, raising her hands and walked inside, not even glancing at her.
"Forgot to welcome the guests and shouted at Mridula which is like a sin here. She is so not missing him." Nipuna said, smirking while I the other woman rolled her eyes before giving me a smile.
"You must be Kalpana." She said and I nodded walking inside along with everyone holding Sudhir's hand.
"I am Mridula and just a normal daughter-in-law in this house." She said the last words stressing while staring at Nipuna.
"And I am just the wife of the head of this family." I heard another voice and glanced at the table to see an older woman than all holding a baby boy who must be like nearly one year.
"Your another sister-in-law?" I asked, turning towards Nipuna and she burst out laughing.
"Nipuna!" this Mridula said while the woman walked towards me.
"I am Premila and I can understand you getting confused with Nipuna being so old. I am actually their mother-in-law." She said and I coughed while Sudhir laughed.
"Cute boy!" Mridula said, kneeling before him.
"Don't worry, Mirdula. You will get your baby boy soon." Nipuna said shaking her head.
"If you ladies finished all this family drama, can any one of you show Kalpana to her room? She travelled so much and Sudhir must be tired too." Another man said walking near to us.
"I am Abhivanth! Her husband." He said and I nodded.
"Perfect introduction." Premila madam whispered.
"Thank you, Madam! I don't want to impose on all of you... I just..." I trailed off not knowing what to even say.
"First of all, just call us Aunt and Uncle. And don't think anything. Just go and take a rest." Premila Ma... Aunt said and I nodded.
"Thank you, Mad... Aunt." I said and bit my tongue.
"And the history repeats. Now I can tease you along with Amrin." She said laughing and Mridula shook her head before gesturing me to follow her.
If the outside is something, then inside is everything. Who lives like this? I thought, feeling lost, but Mridula smiled at me with assurance.
"You know I thought with Amrin I will have no one else to show them to their room and explain everything but you gave me something to do." She said and I stared at her feeling shock.
"Don't mind her! She is weird like that only. Trust me, just my Mom is having the name of being the head here, but if you need anything then we have to ask her like everyone in this house." Aahil explained who is following us with my luggage.
"But not like before." Mridula mumbled.
"Because we don't want to get shouted at." Aahil whispered which we both heard and turned to stare at him.
"Nothing!" he mumbled, but she frowned at him.
"Here! So, I know it is time for dinner, but you both must be tired. I will get the dinner here. However, tomorrow onwards you should be down for breakfast, lunch and dinner without missing at the timings I will tell you." She said smiling but I felt like some very army style.
"Don't mind her again! She just wishes for the whole table to fill so much that we can buy another new one to add to it." Aahil said again standing beside her after putting away the things.
"And when did you become my spokesperson? Why don't you leave politics and apply this job?" Mridula asked back.
"I am finding traces of your husband more and more in you by passing of each year." He said, shaking his head and walked away while she laughed before staring at me.
She hugged me suddenly and moved back saying, "I know we all are overwhelming you and we all feel the same no matter how many years we were together. We are behaving like how we generally are to show you are not a guest, but a part of it."
"You don't know me." I mumbled frowning.
"The way you are holding your son's hand so protectively tells us more than anything you can say with your words. Take your time and your breath and then talk to us. If one pair of ears gets tired then there are too many." She said smiling.
"By the way how old are you?" she asked in an excited tone.
"Twenty eight!" I replied and she immediately frowned.
"Not fair!" she mumbled sighing and walked away while I stared at her frowning.
"Sudhir! Who are all these people?" I asked, turning towards him and he just stared at me.
"Smile!" he mumbled and I did which he copied before we both walked towards the luggage.
For now I will freshen up and have some dinner and then some sleep. After that I will open my thinking gates and ask myself what am I doing in this place.
