27. Passive Agression
"We can go and watch tonight's performance in party hall", Zoya read out from her phone.
"It's a concert?", I asked.
"No they are performing just for us", Zoya said and blushed. I knew she had been about to say just for me.
"Your parents won't object right?", Zoya changed the topic quickly.
"Who's going to ask them?", Riya shrugged "I told them I'll wind up and meet them tonight for dinner".
"Are you sure?", Riya asked.
"Yes, yes. And can I bring Lakshan? He's really upset that we're leaving tomorrow".
"Of course, Rahul would love to meet him", Zoya said.
Great! Both my best friends seemed to have finally reached the ultimate bliss of their love lives and were even planning to make their respective boyfriends meet. While, I who had always boasted of having the best relationship was stranded like an unwanted puppy.
In their moment of bliss, both my friends had completely forgotten that we had just come from the police station that day. I waited for the two to complete their conversation.
"So all six of us will go?", Riya asked looking at me for confirmation.
"Reyansh too?", I asked.
"What do you mean Reyansh too? Where have we gone without him?", Riya asked looking at me like I was mad.
"Yeah..of course", I said.
"So it's set. We'll ask Josh and Maya too if they want to join us".

I am sorry my love, I wrote in pink glitter on the chart paper. This was the sappiest thing I had done in my life. How old was I? Six?
But still, I couldn't think of any other way to apologize to Reyansh. I had never had to apologize to him before this. I knew he'd been the one yelling at me but still.
I folded the chart paper and was about to put it in my jeans picket when I heard Riya's voice, "I saw that".
I looked up. Riya and Zoya were standing at the door.

"This is terrible", Riya said sympathetically. I hadn't known that emotion existed within her. But really, the girl was behaving better than I thought she would if I told her about Reyansh. Perhaps Lakshan and she were rubbing off each other's insolence a bit. Good thing.
"But I think you guys can patch up tonight", Zoya said.
"Yes, but not like this for sure", Riya said grabbing the paper from my hands and tearing it in two, "Were you seriously going to give him that?", she asked, tossing them in the dustbin. I glared at her.
"I know. Give him a sappy speech and close it...wait, let me search on google", Zoya said pulling out her phone.
"Zoya!"
"What?"
"Drop it Zoya", Riya said "Mish can think of something on the way. The cab is here. Let's gather the others and go, guys".

As we walked out we saw Josh coming towards us looking sheepish.
"What happened?", I asked.
"Sorry girls, I'm not coming", Josh said and smiled meaningfully "There's a girl I met in the cafe yesterday evening and we're going out for dinner".
Riya and I grinned at each other. "Good luck", Zoya said smiling at him.
"Thanks. So you three girls have fun", Josh said moving to the door.
"Wait Reyansh and Maya are not coming?", I asked as Josh turned the handle.
"No, didn't he tell you?", Josh asked looking surprised "He told me he's going to do some shopping with Maya", he said and closed the door.
