Chapter 3

"What? What do-oh..."Nick sits back down have a realization.

"So, don't know her that well... huh?" Freddie smiled.

The waitress came back with their drinks and handed it to them. "Here you go."

"Thank you miss." Freddie nodded at her as she walked over to another table. "Nick, you obviously know A LOT about her." Freddie continued their conversation.

"Yeah... I do..." Nick sighed. "But I don't like her... do I?" Nick looked at Freddie with a pout.

"Nick, that's for you to decide. I'm only here to help you talk it out. My opinion, you might like her. Why? Well what could cause you to run a background check on another fox?" Freddie shrugs sincerely.

"No! She said that fox was a bully when she was younger! I was only making sure-"

"Nick, you did that because you want to take care of her... right?" Freddie interrupted him.

"I... yes. She needs me-we need each other." Nick corrected himself, convinced that was the right response.

Freddie nods. "Of course you do! But Nick, the question still remains... do you like her? I mean after everything you guys have been through over these 5 months? The movie nights, the hanging out during break or after work, going to concerts together, never going anywhere without the other?"

Nick smiled. Thinking of Judy, beside him. The movie nights they had on Fridays were always fun, they would watch with Freddie and Clawhauser.

"I..." Nick stopped himself, recalling a memory of a recent movie night.

*Flashback*

They were watching a horror movie at Nick's place, Judy and Nick shared the couch while Clawhauser and Freddie sat at the other sofas. In the movie, the lion was cornered in his house and the music intensified.

"Oh snap, he's a goner." Freddie chuckled.

"Nah, he's gotta live-main character right?" Clawhauser asked.

Nick noticed Judy kept quiet during this discussion. He nudged her slightly.

"Juds?" Nick asked. She looked at him and raised a brow. "Got a say in this?" Nick smiled.

"Uh... no." She shook her head.

"What's the matter Whiskers? Scared?" Nick chuckled, he placed his arm right around her while holding popcorn on his lap.

"No! Things like this don't scare me Nick, besides I think you're scared." She smirks at him.

"Oh ho sure! I'm shaking in my seat!" Nick replied sarcastically.

Soon after, the tiger had been mauled by the murderer which cornered him. This caught Judy off guard, causing her to flinch. Nick smiled and took advantage of this.

"Aww, don't worry Juds... I got you." He chuckled as he moved his arm down to her waist and pulled her closer to him.

Judy blushed. "Ni-Nick! I'm not-" She silenced herself.

To her surprise, she didn't mind his comfort. She smiled and placed her head on his chest. Nick was slightly surprised, but then smiled. Freddie and Clawhauser were still talking during all this, Freddie had silenced the arguement and noticed Nick and Judy's... comforting. He smiled at them, imagining them together. Nick noticed Freddie staring at them with the corner of his eye. Nick looked at him, and in response to Nick looking at him Freddie winked playfully.

"So uh, Judy... you-uh still scared?" He asked smugly.

Judy smiled and cuddled closer. "Never was Nick..."

Nick smiled, admiring Judy's strong nature. She was tough, he liked that.

"That's good." Nick nodded happily, he was satisfied.

*Flashback Ends*

"I-uh... the last movie night..." Nick took a sip of his coffee sheepishly.

"I know Nick, I saw. You enjoyed it." Freddie smirked.

"... I... did..." Nick responded almost ashamed.

"Hey Nick, it's not bad." Freddie reassures him.

Nick took a sip from his coffee and looked at Freddie. "Is it wrong... that I... might like her?"

Freddie laughed. "Nick, it's not! There's nothing wrong with it! Inter-species relationships happen more often then you think. Mammals are just... shy about it." Freddie shrugs.

Nick sighed heavily. "I just... didn't want to give in to these... feelings. She's my friend, besides... she and I will always be friends." Nick said almost defeated.

"That's where you're wrong Nick." Freddie says as he lifts his drink and takes a sip. "She likes you, it's completely obvious."

"What? No it's not, she only sees me as a friend." Nick said irritated, as if he was sick of the conversation.

"Nick. Stop doing that to yourself, you need a confidence boost." Freddie muttered before he to another sip.

"I'm confident enough!" Nick retorted.

"Well, with this whole Judy situation-no, not you're not." He shakes his head at Nick, who rolls his eyes once more.

"Nick, you like her right?" Freddie reconfirmed.

"I-I... yes?" Nick thought for a moment.

Freddie raised both eyebrows in shock. "Okay, come back to me when you actually feel like saying it." Freddie chuckles. "Just... tell me what you like about her." Freddie smirked deviously.

"Uhh why?" Nick asked almost worried.

"Just do it." Freddie sighed.

"Well okay... uh, I like her smile... it-uh always brightens my day, her personality is always outgoing and amazing, she's cute... even though she doesn't want me to call her that she is cute either way, she is strong minded and capable of so many things! She's unique, first bunny to become a cop, her crazy drive to get the job done, to prove herself against all odds... she is just amazing." Nick smiled.

"Aww, that's adorable." Freddie smiled. "Now we know you really do like her."

Nick smiled at Freddie. "Yeah... yeah! I do like Judy! I-I like Judy!" Nick threw his arms in the air in excitement.

"Yeah you do! But calm down, mammals are staring." Freddie advised as Nick looked around the restaurant.

"Right. Sorry." Nick said sheepishly. "So-um, what should I do now?"

Freddie laughed. "What should you do now? Tell her, ya dunce!" Freddie chuckled.

Nick bit his lip. "I... should." Nick nodded in agreement. "How do I do that?"

"Pfft, beats me. Your love life bro, I don't want to tell you how to get together. But I recommend a little romance, sweet talk her." Freddie said confident in his advice.

"Okay, but when should I do it?"

"The sooner the better. But today would probably not be the best time. Maybe tomorrow, movie night? Probably before it." Freddie snapped his fingers.

"Yeah! I'll tell her as soon as possible. She deserves that." He nods. Nick knew as her friend, Judy deserved to know.

"Good on ya Nick!" Freddie cheers him.

"Thanks Fred, I needed a wake up call." Nick smiled.
