Chapter 4: Girl Talk

Rapunzel

I grabbed at less three days' worth of clothes for our new little princess as I carried them to Jack's room for his new prize. Half of me was pissed at him, that he made that stupid deal to get these powers that are slowly making him lose his mind. But I know that's not the whole reason, I was mad because he didn't pick me. I know I'm over him, his nothing but a bastard, who just wanted me to keep him from not being lonely and order around, but still, he's my best friend and I care way too much for him. The only reason I stay on this ship is because to me, my best friend is still in there. The man I love might have died a long time ago but really, I don't think I knew love until I meet Eugene, Flynn I guess now. But to me, he will always be Eugene and I'll never forget the day I meet him.

"Get what you need and be back on the ship in twenty minutes!" I hear Jack yell as I jumped off the ship and walked into the small town we stopped in. It's been a year since Jack's mother Odette died and I think a little of Captain Frost died with her. Jack's father Captain Ben Frost still runs the ship but Jack has been first mate since that night he changed, the night he told me his heart stopped. To me, it seems liked the Captain has been getting sick; I could hear him coughing from Jack's room on the night I stayed with him.

I stayed with Jack almost every night now for about three years, at first I thought it was because he finally had feelings with me and wanted to be with me but... It wasn't. My heart broke when Jack told me he would never love me, that he just used me. I remember I just wanted to jump off the ship and join my father in Davy Jones' Locker but I knew my father wouldn't want that from me, he would have wanted me to live my life to the fullest to try and be happy which I am. To this day, I still didn't know why I stayed with him at night, if it was the reason that I was also lonely at night or maybe it's to numb the pain of losing my father. Whatever it was, it made me want to be with Jack to comfort him and myself.

I keep walking into town just trying to find the blacksmith that has my new sword that was the one nice thing about Jack using me, he always gets me something new to keep my mouth quiet and not tell anyone about what we do behind closes doors. I finally found the shop as I look at the clock tower to see I have about ten minutes left before I have to head back to the ship. "You've stolen from us for the last time Fitzherbert!" I hear as I open the door to the shop. I close it and look around to see where the yelling was coming from. "Stolen form you? Oh come now boys, why would I steal form you?" I hear a deep voice says as I start to walk to find where this fight was happening. I turn a corner and I see three men talking. I hide behind the corner so they don't see me and so I can hear what is happening.

Two of the men were twins that were big and mean looking that would stop anyone dead in their tracks. I watch as one of them grabs the third man by the throat. The third man was pretty good look, I mean he was dirty, and he look pretty beat up from these two goons. "Now you're lying to us, you really think you could talk your way out of this one? You know what happens when people steal from us." I hear the man who was holding the third guy. The third guy shrugs before he lowers his eyes, "Do your worse." He said before I see the guy holding him throw a punch before he drops the third guy.

I could feel my breath get caught in my throat as I watch these twins beat up this guy, but I knew if I even try to help, I could get killed or worse. Finally I hear one of the boys laugh as he spits on the beat up man. "That'll teach you boy." One of the twins says as they start to walk up to me. I quickly go to the door of the Blacksmith to look like I just happened to walk by; the twins didn't even take a second glance at me as they walk by. After they were out of sight, I quickly run back to the alleyway to see the man lying on the ground, blood around him. I drop to my knees by him and place my hand on his neck to feel a pulse. At first I didn't feel anything, until I felt a very slow and weak pulse under my fingertip.

I sigh with relief as I help him stand and put his arm around my shoulder making him moan in pain. "Don't worry, I got you." I say as we slowly walk back to the ship, I could already hear Jack's voice yelling at me in my head, but there was no way in hell I was going to leave this man to die plus, he might be the answer I've been looking for.

"Are you out of your fucken mind!?" I hear Jack yell at me as I bring the unconscious boy on his ship. I feel one of the crew mates grab the boy and take him away from me so he can get help and I can feel the wrath of Jack. I sigh as I look at Jack square in the eye, his dark blue eyes that use to be a beautiful light blue that use to be full of light and dreams but now they were just full of nothing, just a blank space. "He was going to die Jack! Did you just want me to leave him there?" I ask as he steps close to me. "Yeah, I did. You're a pirate for Christ's sake! Start acting like one!" He yells as he pushes past me, but I was not going to end this fight because if I did, Jack was going to throw this boy over board.

"Frost! He's a thief and form what I heard, a pretty damn good one." I say making him stop. His back was still turn to me but he turned his head slightly so I could see one of his eyes looking at me. I take one step, "People were talking when I was carrying him here to the ship, saying that his this thief that the government is looking for, stole something precious from the King." I say as I take another step to him. "We both know that when your father passes away, The White Iris will be yours, and you know I won't leave you or this ship. But don't you want someone on this ship that's about your age?" I say as I stop right behind Jack, inches away from him.

I put my hands on his shoulder and put my head on his back, "If you cared for me in the past, before you went mad with power and for this search for this mermaid, you would let the boy live and stay here on the ship, make him work for you." I say feeling tears come into my eyes but I push them back quickly, a pirate dose not cry, we don't show weakness. We stood there for what seems like years, that was until I hear Jack sigh, "Fine, he can stay but his your responsibility, and since you want him so badly, he can stay in your room and you can show him the ropes. Understand?" I hear him say as I push off of him and he turns to me. I nod, "Yes sir."

I start to walk to where they took our new crew mate when I feel Jack grab my arm, "I know why you want him here, but remember this, you are mine at night that is why he has your room. He will not change that, do you understand?" I hear him whisper in my ear making a shiver go up my spine. I nod my head, "Yes Sir." I whisper making him let go of my arm so I can walk back to our new guest. I could feel Jack's eyes on the back of my neck as I open the door to my room to see Captain Frost sitting next to our guest. The Captain turns his head to me and gives me a weak smile, "I see you talked to my son." "I did, and he said the boy could stay, but I have to take care of him." I say as I walk over to my bed and sit by the boy's legs.

"Why... Why are you letting him do this?" I ask knowing I step a little out of place but I had to know, I had to know why he was letting his son act like a mad man. The Captain looks at me before he looks back at our guest, "He will be Captain of this ship soon, and he needs to know how to run it." He takes a deep breath, "I was like him once." He says as he looks back at me and laughs because of the look I am giving him. "It's true; he is more like me in more ways than one. I use want to find power and to be the best pirate in the seven seas, but then I meet Odette and well... All I wanted to do was to make her happy, to give her everything she ever wanted. And it surprised me when she ran away to be with me and to be a pirate." The Captain laughs making me laugh with him, but then he stopped and became serious again.

"Look I know his not easy to work with right now but I think... I think once he finds this mermaid, he'll be back to his old self." He says and I could see tears go into his eyes, this would be the second time I've seen him cry, the first was when Odette died. "Do you think it's true? The Legend?" I ask. The Captain nods as he stands and starts to walk to the door, "I do believe it's true, because Odette believed it was true." He says as he opens the door and turns to me, "I know you care for my son, and when the time comes I won't be in this world anymore and I need someone to watch over my son, to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid."

I look at his face to see two things, fear and worry for his son, a face I saw in my father before he passed away. "I... I'll watch him Sir." I say making him do another weak smile, "Thank you Rapunzel, your father would be proud of you." The Captain says before he walks out the door and closes it behind him. "Thank you... Ben." I say quietly as I feel something touch my back. I turn my head to see the boy is starting to wake up. I get off the bed as I see the boy's eyes open and he turns his head to me. "I must be dead." He says as I raise an eyebrow, "Why do you say that?" I ask. Slowly he reaches and grabs my hand, "Because I'm looking at an Angel." He says and gives me a big cocky smile.

I roll my eyes as I pull my hand back, "Well aren't you a flirt." I say making him laugh which makes him start to cough, "Oh... Stupid idea." He says as the coughing stops and he looks back at me, "Are you alright?" I ask sitting back down next to him. "I'm alive, thanks to you." He says with a smile, a smile that had sneakiness behind it making me blush. "Where am I?" "On the White Iris." I say making his eyes widen, "No shit? Wow, so who are you on this ship?" He asks. It didn't surprise me that he knew about this ship; we're one of the feared pirates in the seven seas. "I work on the Crow's Nest, but when Jack becomes Captain, I hope to maybe be Frist Mate or even Quartermaster." I say proudly. I see the boy roll his eyes, "A girl to be First Mate or even Quartermaster? I would love to see that." He says. I lend in close to him, "If you listen to me, you'll get too, the Captain's son has allowed me to take you in, this is your new room and I'm your new trainer, you'll be working on here, if you want too of course."

"Are you kidding? Why wouldn't I want to be a pirate? I'm totally in." He says which makes me smile, "Good, by the way, I'm Rapunzel or Punzel for short." I say as I give him my hand. He quickly grabs it, "Eugene Fitzherbert." He says with a shake. "That's a nice name." I say. "But not a pirate name." I hear behind me as I turn my head to see Jack by the door. "And who are you?" Eugene says. "You're boss, I'm Jack Frost, soon to be Captain Jack Frost and if you want to work for me and stay on this ship, I suggest you change your name to something that people will remember and fear." Jack says before he looks at me, "Fifteen minutes." He says before he walks out. I see Eugene raise an eyebrow, "Fifteen minutes?" He asks making me sigh, "Fifteen minutes before I have to be in his room." I say.

"Oh... are you two..." "No, God no... It's hard to explain." I say moving my fingers through my hair. We sat in silence for a bit before I clear my throat, "So... What name are you going to pick?" I ask trying to clear the air. I hear him huff and his struggling to keep his eyes open, "You know, when I was little my favorite book was The Adventure of Flynn Rider, he was my hero I always wanted to be like him." He looks over at me, "I think Flynn Rider fits you." I say. He nods, "I think so too..." He says as he lays his head back on the pillow and I see him closes his eyes, falling back to sleep.

Since that day, Flynn and I have only gotten closer and with Jack not needing me anymore, I want to get even closer to him. Stuck in my day dream, I didn't even notice I was in front of Jack's door. Right when I'm about to knock, I hear them talking. "You need to understand Elsa that you are mine. And mine alone, and you will love me." I hear Jack's voice. He sounded angry making me worries for our little mermaid. "How can I love a man that has no heart?" I hear the mermaid say making my eyes widen, did she know? Did he tell her about his heart not beating?

Not long I hear a crack and a wine making me cover my mouth, Jack did something to her... "Never... Speak to me like that again." I hear Jack say and I could hear his footsteps coming to the door. I quickly hide behind where the door swings open. "Rapunzel will be here soon with some clothes and when I get back, you better be dress for me." Jack says. "You are a monster!" I hear the mermaid yell as I hear the door open. "I know." I hear Jack say as the door open and walk out. I watch him walk away but he stops a few steps away and looks at his hand, "What did I do?" He says so quietly that I almost missed him saying it.

After I see him start to walk away, I walk back to the door and knock. "Go away!" I hear the mermaid yell making me roll my eyes, "It's Rapunzel, and I have your clothes." I say as I open the door to see the mermaid wrapped in a blanket her and she was lying on the bed, her hand on her cheek. I see her light blue eyes look over at me, as I walk in and close the door. "I got you three days' worth of clothes for you until we get to the next city and a pair of boots." I say as I set the clothes on the bed and the boots on the floor by the bed, "I also got you a nightgown to wear tonight." I say as I hold up a blue nightgown making her look at me. "Thank you." She whispers before she turns away from me.

I couldn't but feel bad for her, I know she was missing home and how Jack has been treating her but... There was nothing I could do. So I start to walk back to my room, "Why is he so heartless?" I hear behind me making me stop and turn to her. She was finally sitting up looking at me, so I guess Jack didn't tell her about his heart. "It's a long story, something that the Captain will have to tell you." I say and walk back over to her and sit next to her. "I've never met someone so..." "Cruel?" I interpret making her nod as she pulls her legs to her chest and tucks them under her chine.

"Look, the Captain has his reasons, and the old Jack wouldn't have gone this far to find you but... His changed over the last eleven years and this is who he is now." I say making her looks up at me a little but that sad expression was still on her face. I had to think of a way to cheer her up a little, she was the only girl on this ship now and I won't lie, I really need some girl time. I move my shoulder to her and bump into her, "Hey think of the positive, you have legs now." I say making her smile a little, "You're right, I do." Then she starts to giggle, "And I have no idea how to use them." She says making me laughs and then I stood up, "Then it's time to teach you." I say as I give her my hand.

She raises an eyebrow at me as she takes it, "Why are you doing this?" She asks as she gets on her feet and tightens the blanket around her so it doesn't fall. "Because, I think you might be the cure to save Jack, to maybe make him the old him again." I say as I take a step back and she follows still holding onto my hands. She starts to wiggle to the side trying to get use to her legs and moving but she finally straightens up and laughs. She kind of reminded me of a kid trying to walk for the first time. I keep walking as she follows with me, "Another reason is because you're the only girl on this ship and I could really use a girl to talk too, even if it's a mermaid." I say as I let go of her hands and she starts to walk by herself, she puts her arms out on the side to hold her balance.

She looks down at her feet and then back at me with a big smile. "Ah! I'm doing it!" She says as she starts to walk a little normal and puts her arms down. I start to laugh as she picks up the speed and runs to me and quickly hugs me. I stubble back as she wraps her arms around me. "Thank you Rapunzel." She says in a whisper as I put my arms around her and hug her back. "Anytime mermaid." I say making us both laugh as she steps back, "You can call me Elsa." She says as she walks over to the bed and picks up her nightgown. "Well Elsa, I should go to bed and Jack will be back soon so if I were you, I'd put that nightgown on and crawl back in bed." I say as I start to walk back to the door.

"Wait Rapunzel!" I hear behind me as I look at Elsa to see she's holding the nightgown close to her body. "How do I put this thing on?" She asks a look on her face that screams help me. I roll my eyes at her goofiness as I walk back over to her, "Take the blanket off and slide this part over your head." I say as I show her how to put the nightgown on. I turn my head once I see her start to undo her blanket. I feel her grab the nightgown form me. "Okay, I think I have it on." I hear Elsa say as I turn to her, the dress did look really nice on her and I think Jack would be happy.

"It looks perfect." I say as I turn her around and so she can look in the mirror. I see her smile, "Thank you again." She says making me smile, "We have to stick together on this; I'm here if you ever need me." I say as I walk to the door. I look one more time at Elsa to see she's too busy looking at the mirror and taking her braid out to notice I was leaving. I prayed to Odette that she was the cure to Jack's beating heart.

And sorry for the late update, I was so busy these last couple days but I will try to update again soon and I want to try to update Death of a Bachelor later today after I do some cleaning (Which sucks) Anyways, leave me comments maybe a vote if you guys like this chapter!
