BACKSTORY

Post-Regeneration

After regeneration and meeting Amy Pond, post-"Victory of the Daleks," Jade finally had the courage to return to her family and show off her new form. However, her family had a similar reaction as Rose had in "Born Again." Although they eventually come to accept her, Jade struggles with her new identity throughout the arc of Series 5. Her brother, Colin, also joins them (he joined the Tenth Doctor and Jade 1.0 during Day of the Doctor, but left after he wooed and married Elizabeth I)  and is the one that Amy Pond flirts with.

River Song and Cole McCrimmon

In the beginning of Series 6, we learn that Jade and the Doctor are going to be killed by two unknown assailants on Lake Silencio. Throughout every single encounter that the Doctor and Jade have with River Song, she's accompanied by a man named Cole McCrimmon. In Series 6, little Jamie is kidnapped alongside Melody Pond at Demon's Run. It is discovered that Cole is really Jamie and has been raised by Madame Kovarian to believe that his parents abandoned him and to kill the Dreamer. In "The Wedding of River Song," Cole, now going by Jamie again, marries River, uniting the Pond and Bennett families, restoring the original timeline, and saving his parents.

Losing Amy and Rory, Star Harbour, and the Impossible Sisters

After defeating Madame Kovarian, the Doctor and Jade resume their lives traveling through time and space while raising Natalie. In the Dalek Asylum, they meet sisters Oswin and Metis, but the sisters die saving them. But shortly after the Ponds rejoin them aboard the TARDIS, they are sent back in time by the Weeping Angels. After seeing Natalie's reaction, they decide to live the simple life, settling in the seaside Scottish town of Star Harbour circa 1995.

For 12 years, they raise Natalie as normally as possible. However, Natalie is bullied in school due to her "abnormalities" and can only rely on Jamie and neighbor Henry Darcy. She also goes to see the hidden TARDIS, against her mother's wishes. When Natalie turns 17, Jade and Natalie get into an argument that leads to Natalie running off with the TARDIS. Natalie meets a mysterious woman named Zelena, who tells Natalie that her parents will only hold her back. Natalie then takes the TARDIS to meet her mother's side of the family, who become incensed when they realize that they missed 12 years of Natalie's life. Her family and Henry, however, come to the rescue when Zelena attacks the Bennetts. After making up for some lost time, Natalie requests a trip to Victorian London with her parents and invites Henry to join them. Emmy and Colin also re-join them.

During their time in Victorian London, they meet Clara Oswin and Jessica Metis Oswald, who, like their Asylum counterparts, sacrifice themselves for the Time Lords. The Doctor and Jade become obsessed with solving the mystery behind these sisters and bring their modern counterparts aboard the TARDIS. A romance develops between Jessica and Emmy, while Colin begins crushing on Clara. Henry and Natalie also begin falling in love with each other, despite Henry's disapproving mother, Miriam.

Jade and the Eleventh Doctor also helped the First Dreamer, the Tenth Doctor, and the War Doctor save Gallifrey from destruction in the Time War, later meeting what could possibly be an older, retired version of her husband and herself.

The Bennetts soon move from their home in London 2025 to Star Harbour 2013.

Trenzalore

On Christmas 2013, the Doctor and Jade leave to guard the town of Christmas on Trenzalore and to meet their end. After their companions and children plead with the Time Lords, the Doctor and Jade are given new and equal regeneration cycles. They regenerate from old age.
