Chapter 14: Slow Dance
I won't say that I was disappointed but this was a little unexpected. I thought we'd be going somewhere else but here we are, right in front of his apartment.
" I know you probably didn't expect me to bring you here but I promise you'll like it," Zeph said as he opened the door to his apartment.
As soon as the door opened, my jaw dropped and my eyes widened at the sight of what was in front of me.
The entire room was filled with the sweet fragrance of lavender scented candles. It was lit with fairy lights hanging on the walls and the floor was covered with red and white heart-shaped balloons.
All I could utter was, " Wow!"
Zephyr took my hand and guided me to his balcony.
In the center of the balcony was a round table with two chairs on opposite ends. The railing was covered with fairy lights and the entire scene looked like it was straight out from a movie.
I walked up to the table and Zeph pulled out my chair for me. All of it was perfect. I couldn't believe that someone had put in so much effort just for me.
The view of the radiant full moon from the balcony only made the scene more heavenly.
Zeph played Can't help falling in love and stretched out his hand.
" May I have this dance with you?" He asked with his deep brown eyes staring into mine and a smile that covered his face.
I nodded and he kissed my hand. He put his hand on my waist and I put mine on his shoulder. He pulled me closer and with our hands intertwined together, we swayed to the soft beat of the most romantic song to ever exist.
If two months ago, someone had told me that I'd be dancing to can't help falling in love with Zephyr then I would have laughed on their face.
" Zeph, all of this, it's just beautiful," I said.
" Thank you. I'm really glad you liked it," he said while twirling me around.
" Jen, have I told you how lovely you look tonight?" He said as he brushed his fingers against my cheek.
" Yes, you've said that thrice already and thank you once again." I blushed.
We danced for quite some time and then sat to have dinner.
Zephyr carried out two plates from the kitchen.
" Here you go, Miss," he said as he carefully placed the plate in front of me.
" Oh my god! Pasta. It's my favourite," I said as I grabbed the fork and tasted it.
" Did you cook this?" I asked.
" I did. Do you like it?" He asked with his hand on his chin.
" No, I don't like it," I said as I watched his expressions fade.
" I love it," I squealed in excitement. His bright smile was right back on his face.
" This is the best pasta I've ever had. It's delicious," I said as I took another bite.
" Really?" He asked.
I nodded with a smile.
The rest of the evening was spent talking, teasing and laughing. Zeph told me about the naughty days of his childhood and I told him about the pranks I used to play in school. It was a perfect evening. Perhaps, even the best day of my life yet.
After dinner, we were leaning against the railing watching the stars and the moon.
" What are you reminded of when you look at the full moon?" I asked him with my head resting on his shoulder and my hands wrapped around his arm.
" It reminds me of you. The full moon is the epitome of beauty. It doesn't even try to look beautiful and is so selfless. It provides the entire world with it's light when the world is in darkness. Even the stars shine because of it. Jen, you're just like the full moon. You were there for me like a bright light in the midst of darkness that surrounded me.
You're beautiful, inside and out. Selfless and pure. You're the most amazing person I've ever met." He said as he pressed my hand and kissed my head.
All I could manage to do was smile at his words. I was speechless. I hadn't felt so special ever before.
" Hey Zeph, what are we now?"
" I don't know," he said.
I don't know why but it was a bit weird to hear that. I thought that maybe we're heading towards something more but I guess I was expecting too much or maybe it was too soon. It was okay though. He probably needed some time and he could take as long as he wanted. I could wait.
I was just happy to share this moment with him. Just us, the full moon, stars and soft music.

It had been a week since our date and I hadn't received even a text from Zeph. I tried to call him up but to no avail. I didn't go to his house because I believed he didn't want to see me. I thought I had done something wrong. I was worried sick and then a text popped up. It was him. I opened his message and it read,
" We need to talk."
