Chapter 2 - Extreme Agressor

"Y'know, today has been a good day." Elijah hummed, sat on Fleur's desk.

"It's just been us in." Fleur pointed out.

"So? It has been unproblematic all day." Elijah shrugged,"It's weird not doing something."

"At least no cases." Fleur nodded.

"Don't jinx us." Elijah chuckled.

"My fingers are crossed." Fleur held her crossed things up.

That is when both of their phones began to buzz.

Fleur looked at Elijah,"I didn't jinx us." She looked at her phone.

"How could you do this to us?" Elijah shook his head, answering the call,"Where am I needed?"

"I'll send you the coordinates." Hotch told Elijah.

"Thanks, Hotch."

"Hello?" Fleur answered her own phone.

"Fleur, we've got a case down in Seattle." Elle told her.

"Send me the address?" She hummed.

"Of course."

Fleur nodded and hung up,"... I didn't jinx us." She pointed at Elijah.

"You did so." Elijah put his phone in his pocket,"But I heard Seattle's nice"

"I think I've been once or twice." Fleur got up,"I'll see you there?"

"Definitely." Elijah nodded as he put on his jacket.

Fleur waved as she put on her own jacket, leaving the office. Elijah quickly grabbed his bag from his own desk before leaving as well.

*********************************

"What took you so long?" Morgan walked up to Elijah once he arrived.

"Traffic was a pain." Elijah sighed.

"You don't even drive." Morgan blinked.

"Yes, I do."

"Since when?"

"Since when- Morgan, I drive to work every morning." Elijah pointed.

"I swear you got the bus."

"No, that's Spencer." Elijah shook his head,"He doesn't drive."

"He'll learn one day." Morgan nodded slowly as everyone got out of the car.

"I'll teach him, I'm a great driver." Elijah shrugged.

"Teach me what?" Reid walked up.

"How to drive." Elijah hummed.

"No way." Reid shook his head.

"Dont trust me behind a wheel?" Elijah raised a brow, walking into the office.

"Eh.." Reid shrugged while Gideon walked ahead of them.

"You know he never stands with his back to the window. When I was standing between him and a doorway he asked me to move." Morgan told them.

"It's called hypervigilence, it's not uncommon in post-traumatic stress disorder." Reid told him.

"Just how much disorder are we talking about?" Morgan sighed.

"Morgan, it's been six months. Everything's okay." Hotch assured him.

"Alright." Morgan nodded as they walked into the office.

Hotch then began to introduce them as they entered,"This is Special Agent Gideon, Special Agent Morgan, our expert on obsessional crimes, Special Agent Deans, our hostage negotiatior, Special Agent Reid-"

"Doctor Reid." Gideon pointed.

"Doctor Reid, our expert on, well, everything and after two years of busting my hutt in the office, I hope you remember who I am." Hotch chuckled slightly, garnering some laughter from the others in the room.

Gideon looked at the board,"He's willing to travel with a body."

"Which means he has a vehicle capable of transporting one." Hotch nodded.

"One in 7.4 drivers in Seattle drive SUVS." Reid hummed.

"Explorer with tinted windows." Morgan suggested.

"Explorers rate higher with women." Reid added.

"How do we know this is even his car?' Morgan asked,"Ted Bundy drove a VW Bug."

"What about a Jeep Cheroke?" Hotch suggested, showing Elijah a file.

"Jeeps are more masculine." Reid agreed as Elijah scanned the file.

"We all know about how an Unsub feels about asserting his masculinity." Gideon sighed.

"So when did the bureau become involved with this case?" Elijah raised a brow, handing Hotch back his file.

"After the forth body. He dumped one out of state." An agent told him.

"On purpose?" Hotch asked.

"If so, knowledge of law enforcement does suggest a criminal record." Reid sat down.

"Or he watches television. May I?" Morgan held his hand out for the file.

"So do you want to see our subject list?" The other agent asked, handing Morgan the file.

"No, we won't look at a suspect list until we've come up with our profile." Hotch answered,"It keeps our perspective unbiased."

"When do we sit down with your task force?" Gideon turned.

"4 o'clock." Thr agent answered.

"An accurate profile by 4 o'clock today?" Morgan blinked.

"That's not a problem." Gideon walked back up the board.

"Agent Gideon, where would you like to start?" Hotch asked.

"At the sight of the last murder." Gideon pointed to the crime scene.

"Well, you heard him, Morgan." Elijah crossed his arms.

*********************************

Hotch, Reid and Elijah made their way to the last victim's house. Once inside, the dog immediately started barking at Reid.

"Sandy, no, no, no, no. I'm sorry." The man apologized, holding back his dog.

"Oh no, it's okay. It's what we like to call the 'Reid effect'. It happens with children too." Hotch sighed.

Elijah chuckled slightly, nudging Reid.

"I'm Special Agent Hotchner, this is Special Agent Deans and Special Agent Doctor Reid." Hotch introduced the boys.

"You look too young to have gone to medical school." The man pointed out.

"They're PhD's. I have three of them." Reid nodded slowly.

"Are you a genius or something?" He asked.

"Oh, he's something." Elijah hummed.

"I-I don't believe that intelligence can be accurately quantified but I do have an IQ of 187, an eidetic memory and I can read twenty thousand words a minute." Reid rambled,"... Yes, I'm a genius."

Reid walked off to examine something else in the room as Sandy barked again, Elijah immediately going to pet the dog.

"You get a lot of attention, don't you, Sandy?" Elijah smiled.

"Yeah, Heather loves this dog. I feed her when Heather's away, usually she's fine. But... I don't know. Lately she won't eat. It's almost as if she can sense somethings wrong." The man sighed.

"Not sense, smell." Reid corrected,"Our apotine sweat glands release secretions due to emotional stress."

"Sandys worried because she knows you are." Hotch simplified it for him.

The man nodded slowly as Reid looked through some magazines, soon pausing.

"David, does your sister drive a Datsun Z?"

"No, but she's in the market for one. How'd you know?"

Reid turned around, holding up a few magazines advertising cars.

Sany began barking again, so David took the dog outside. Elijah and Hotch then walked over to Reid.

"There's an immediate relationship established between a buyer and a seller, a level of trust." Reid explained,"If I wanted to coax a young woman into my car.."

"You'd offer her a test drive." Elijah sighed.

"Okay, let's meet up with Morgan and Gideon at the office." Hotch nodded.

"Sounds like a plan." Elijah hummed.

"We'll notify you if we find out anything." Hotch told David as he walked back in.

"Thank you." He nodded to them.

Soon enough, the guys made it back to the office. Reid sat down in a chair and spun around.

"Okay, how about the fact that on one hand we have paranoid psychosis, but the autospy protocol says what?" Morgan threw a ball up in the air.

"Adhesive residue suggests that he put layer after layer of duct tap over his victim's eyes." Reid told him.

"He knows he wants to kill them but still covers their eyes. He doesn't want them looking at him." Morgan turned.

"Paranoid." Elijah played with his pencil as Gideon studied his board.

"Okay, but then he takes the body and dumps it out in the open, the murder weapon nearby."

"It's not the MO of a paranoid thinking he's being surveyed or watched." Reid shook his head.

"Paranoid psychosis, but behaviour that's not paranoid. Maybe we just don't have enough for a complete profile." Morgan sighed.

"We have enough to narrow down a list of suspects." Hotch told him.

"You know we're looking at less than 12 hours to even save her. Okay, Hotch? We don't know anything." Morgan argued.

"That's enough. Hotch, tell them we're ready." And with that, Gideon turned and left the room.

"We're ready?" Morgan blinked,"Reid, Dean, you good with this? We've got a woman who only has a few hours left to live, an incomplete profile and a unit cheif who is on the verge of a nervous breakdown." He pointed.

"They don't call them nervous breakdowns anymore." Gideon told him as he walked back in, grabbed a pen and left.

"It's called a major depressive episode." Reid nodded slowly.

"I know, Reid." Morgan sighed, shaking his head.

*********************************

"The house is set." Fleur put on her jacket.

"Great." Elle nodded, putting her hands in her pockets as she began walking towards the suspect's house.

Fleur walked with Elle, fixing her scarf once they got to the door, knocking on it. That's when an older woman answered the door, another woman in the background cradling a crying toddler.

Hi, we're so sorry to bother you but we're housesitting across the street and when we got back the door was laying wide open and the lighrs were all off." Fleur sighed.

"Richard! Richard, get down here!" She called upstairs.

"Would he mind coming in to check with us?" Elle tilted her head.

"Oh, he won't mind." The woman assured them as Richard walked downstairs.

"You're Richard?" Fleur gave a small smile.

"Yeah, I am." The man nodded.

Elle hummed,"Would you mind coming to check the house with us?"

"O-okay." Richard began to walk out.

"You're a lifesaver, thank you." Elle sighed of relief as they walked.

"Are you sure you both locked it?" Richard asked as they walked to the house.

"Yeah." They nodded.

Richard opened the door once they reached the house, shining a flashlight inside,"Hello?"

There was silence inside, nothing as the three walked through the living room.

"Hello?" Richard asked again as they walked.

That's when SWAT jumped out and began pointing their guns at Richard, shouting.

"Richard Slessman, FBI." Fleur pinned Richard to the floor, putting him in handcuffs,"You're under arrest for murder, anything you say can and will be used against you."

*********************************

"I'm heading up." Hotch told Gideon as he walked upstairs, back in Richard's house.

"There's no sign of the girl here. We can arrest him of probable cause but we won't be able to hold him." Reid walked out of the living room,"Slessman has been at the top of the suspect list."

"Is that the mother?" Gideon raised a brow, looking at the older woman in the kitchen.

"Grandmother. Mother died in a fire when he was thirteen." Elle walked out the room.

"I bet it's not the only fire in his childhood." Gideon shook his head.

"Before his Son of Sam murders, David Berkowitz set a multitude of fires." Reid put his hands in his pockets.

"So, how much exactly is a multitude?" Morgan asked.

"According to his diary, one thousand four hundred and.." Reid trailed off.

"Eighty-eight." Elle finished for him.

"Someone had a little too much free time on his hands." Elijah shook his head.

"Luring him out was yours and Howard's idea, right? Greenaway?" Gideon turned.

"Elle and Fleur." She sighed,"We don't send a SWAT team into a house with children."

"Hotch says your background is in sex offender cases, plus Fleur has worked with you before... So what can you tell us?"

"The last four victims show he's an anger-excitation rapist." Elle told him,"He'll keep a victim for a couple of days, he probably films or videotapes them so he can keep reliving the fantasy."

"You okay with Hotch being in on the interview?" Gideon raised a brow.

"I'd like him to lead, actually." Elle nodded.

"Fine, but hold off. Slessman's done time and he knows the process. And all you will get now is a demand for a lawyer." Gideon walked off,"Hotch! Let's check the garage and then show me what you've got."

"Next time show a little leg." Morgan smirked before walking off.

"Morgan, the only time I'll show a little leg is when I'm kicking your ass." Elle pointed, following him.

"I still teach hand-to-hand in Quantico if you need a little brush up training." Morgan turned to her.

"Morgan, she'll beat you up." Elijah called up to them.

"It's true." Fleur hummed, turning to Elijah,"Where should we head? Attic with the others?"

"We probably should." Elijah nodded,"But I hate attics, too much dust."

"Need a mask?" Fleur joked as they walked up.

"Unless you want me to sneeze and break a fancy vase." Elijah rolled his eyes.

"Please don't." Fleur walked into the attic where Elle, Reid, Gideon and Hotch already were.

They saw Reid sat at a table, a board game in front of him.

"What kind of game is it?" Fleur looked at Reid who was staring down a game board.

"Is it chess?" Elijah asked,"Like, a fancy version?"

"No, it's called Wei-Chi. Here, we call it Go. It's considered to be the most difficult board game ever conceived." Reid corrected him.

"Chairman Mao required his generals to learn it." Gideon added.

"So... It's a smart people game." Elijah nodded slowly.

"That's you out of luck." Fleur muttered.

"It also looks like he's playing himself." Reid blinked.

"Why would he do that?" Elijah asked,"And how can you tell?"

Reid spun the board,"This might actually provide an advantage. Go is considered a psychologically revealing game. There are profiles for every single player. The Conservative Point Counter, the Agressor, the Finessor."

"What kind of player is Slessman?" Hocth raised a brow.

"Exteme Agressor."

"Isn't that wonderful?" Elijah sighed as they headed into Richard's bedroom.

"Okay... Here we go." Morgan typed on a laptop.

"What's the number six at the bottom of the screen?" Elle asked.

"Number of password attempts we have until a programme wipes the hard drive clean." Fleur answered.

"So no pressure." Elijah leaned against a chest of drawers.

"There could be an email or a journal on the computer, something that tells us where Heather is." Elle shook her head,"Do you think you can break in?"

"In six tries?"

"Try again, fail again. Fail better." Gideon quoted.

Reid nodded,"Samuel Beckett."

"Try not, do or do not." Morgan hummed.

"Oh- I know that one. Yoda." Elijah pointed.

"Course you know Yoda." Fleur scanned the shelves.

"What? I know some things." Elijah shrugged.

Gideon pulled a book out of the shelf and paused, "I wanna talk to him."

*********************************

"A second unsub?" Elle asked as they walked down the stairs.

"It's not unusual." Fleur shrugged.

"Remember Lawerence Bittaker and Roy Norris?" Gideon asked them.

"They outfitted a van to rape and murder women, didn't they?" Elijah raised a brow.

"We're looking for someone that fits that similar relationship?" Hotch walked.

"Well, they aren't equals." Elijah shook his head,"Slessman's smart, but he's got a submissive personality."

"So number two is the dominant." Fleur turned.

"It appears so."

"Arrogant, probably not as smart as Slessman. He's like the schoolyard bully recruiting lackeys. He'll be protective of Richard, he'll make it feel like he owns him." Gideon put his jacket on.

"If Richard's been upstairs fantasizing about being an extreme agressor, this guys the one who showed him how to do it." Hotch nodded

"I think we should interview him. Use this as pressure." Fleur stopped.

"No, no." Gideon shook his head,"We need leverage, a name."

"From the suspect list?" Elle asked.

"That'll take too long, there has to be a faster way." He sighed.

"There is. We can talk to the grandma, see what she knows." Hotch told them.

"It's worth a shot." Elijah nodded.

"Who calls dibs?" Elle hummed.

"Morgan, you're good with women." Elijah turned to him.

"With younger woman." Morgan blinked.

"Hotch, you're... Older." Elijah's turned to him.

"I'm sorry?" Hotch turned.

"If I talk to that nice lady will you forget I said that?" Elijah asked slowly.

"I will." Hotch nodded, Fleur turning around to hide her laugh.

"I'm on grandma duty then." Elijah covered his face.

Hotch and Gideon then walked off with Elle and Morgan to the cctv room.

"You're such an idiot." Fleur laughed.

"I know, I wasnt thinking." Elijah shook his head,"It just... Happened."

"You say stuff randomly." Fleur shrugged.

"He's not going to talk to me later." Elijah crossed his arms.

"No, he won't. Can you do it yourself?" Fleur asked.

"I could, but do you want to come?"

"You want me to come, don't you?"

"Maybe just a little bit." Elijah rubbed the back of his neck.

"Get moving." Fleur clapped her hands.

*********************************

"Be careful, it might be a bit hot." Elijah told Mrs Slessman as he passed her a cup of tea,"Now, we think we've got the wrong guy. We think the person we're looking for may be a friend of Richard's."

"Well... Richard never had any friends." Mrs Slessman shook her head.

"Are you sure? There's gotta be someone." Fleur sighed.

"Well, there was... There was this one man. I think his name was Charlie." Mrs Slessman nodded slowly.

"Charlie? That's great. What can you tell us about him?" Fleur tilted her head.

"I remember, the prison... Cascadia." Mrs Slessman told her.

"That's not too far from here." Elijah turned to her.

"That's great. Thank you, Mrs Slessman." Fleur gave a smile.

Mrs Slessman gave her a small smile back as Elijah stood up.

"One of the deputies will drive you home." Fleur assured her as they walked off.

"Is that where we're headed then? Cascadia?" Elijah raised a brow.

"Get your big boy pants on." Fleur sighed.

"I'm incredibly masculine and intimidating, we'll be fine." Elijah assured her.

Fleur just looked at Elijah in confusion,"Yes... Totally."

"I've been around prisons before, I know how to handle myself."

"No, I just meant... About the intimidating and masculine part." Fleur shrugged.

"I can be both of those things." Elijah shrugged.

"Maybe like, half of the time." Fleur got to the car.

"I can live with that." Elijah hummed.

*********************************

The two travelled to Cascadia, walking into the prison as the prison guard walked over to them.

"How can I help you?"

"I'm Agent Deans and this is Agent Howards." Elijah told him, arms crossed,"We're looking for anyone that can tell us more about Richard Slessman."

"Let me see your badges again." The guard tilted his head.

"I can assure you, they look the same as last time." Elijah took his out.

The guard studied the badges before he nodded.

"Thank you." Elijah sighed.

"Right this way."

"Let's see where we go then." Fleur looked around.

Elijah walked close to Fleur as he looked at the prisoners around them.

"Is there anyone who can tell us more about Slessman?" Fleur asked.

"Tim Vogel was the security guard covering Slessman's block. That's him over there, I'll get him for you." The guard told her, pointing.

"Thanks." Fleur nodded, leaning over the edge as he walked off.

"I hate it here." Elijah shook his head, looking at his phone as it buzzed.

"So do I." Fleur sighed.

It was Hotch texting, telling Elijah that Linder was dead.

"Fleur, we got some news from Hotch." Elijah looked up from his phone,"Charles Linder's name came up on a police report."

"And?"

"He's dead."

"Shit." Fleur cursed.

"Hopefully this Vogel guy can help us."

"I hope so. Or else we have nothing." Fleur shook her head.

"And we barely have anything to begin with." Elijah sighed as Vogel walked over.

"Hi, I was told you guys are the feds? I'm to help with a case."

"Yes, I'm Agent Deans and this is Agent Howards." Elijah introduced them,"We heard you could tell us about Richard Slessman?"

"There's not much I can really say." Vogel sighed,"He just kept to himself."

"Any people he hung around with? Anything at all?

"The only guy there is is dead." Vogel shrugged.

Elijah sighed,"Well, what do you think? About cases like this?"

"Horrible." Vogel shook his head,"Obviously."

"Fleur, have you got any questions for him?"

"I don't believe so. Just if there's anything you can help with." Fleur sighed.

"If you remember anything, call me." Elijah took out a slip if paper eigh his number on it.

Vogel took it, putting it in his pocket,"You'd think the prisoners would try and stay on our good side. Especially since half our job is protecting them from each other."

"And do they not?"

"No. We need to protect them. Especially if you're a little white guy in a big place like this?" Vogel shrugged, he couldn't mean Linder cause he was 6'4 so..

"Linder was 6'4, are you talking about Slessman?" Elijah asked.

"Oh, yeah." Vogel nodded.

"Thanks for your help." Elijah nodded slowly.

The two then walked out of the prison, heading towards the car.

"He protected Richard, befriended him. Made him feel like he owed him." Fleur walked.

"He fits the profile, and did you see them?" Elijah looked at her.

"The keys." Fleur agreed,"Call Hotch."

"On it." Elijah nodded as he got into the car, dialing Hotch.

"Hotchner." Hotch answered the call.

"Hotch, Fleur and I just found your leverage." Elijah told him,"His name is Timothy Vogel."

*********************************

They had caught Vogel, he was now arrested along with Slessman. Now? The team could go home.

"I am so glad that's over." Elijah shook his head, leaning back in his chair on the jet.

"Did you know that Reid listens to Metalica?" Morgan turned to look at him.

"Aw, that's cute." Elijah hummed.

"That doesn't scare you?" Morgan blinked.

"Why would it?" Elijah shrugged.

"Because we have a genius who listens to hard Rock." Morgan shrugged.

"It's not uncommon." Elle shrugged.

"You can only listen to Mozart so many times." Elijah pulled out a notebook.

"I don't even find Mozart that entertaining." Reid walked in

"The only music allowed in my house was classical." Elijah shook his head.

"Do you still like it?" Morgan raised a brow.

"No, I can't sit through it anymore." Elijah told him.

"I never liked classical, my mom likes Rock and my mama likes Musicals." Fleur hummed.

"I wish I had one of your mums." Elijah sighed.

"Just wait until you meet them." Fleur chuckled.

"Can I borrow them?"

"Joint custody?" Fleur joked.

"Please?" Elijah looked over at her, he was genuinely serious.

"You're being serious?" Hotch raised a brow.

"You thought I wasn't?" Elijah blinked.

"I'm sure your mom isn't that bad."

"I'll let you meet her one day." Elijah rolled his eyes.

"Anyone want coffee, tea, hot chocolate?" Fleur got up.

"Coffee, please." Elijah nodded.

"As you wish." Fleur nodded.

"Thank you." Elijah hummed.

Fleur wandered over to the coffee station,"So Elle, did you enjoy today?"

"Today was very... Unexpected. But enjoyable." Elle nodded.

"Well, Gideon? Do you think she can join?"

"I don't see why not. You've proved yourself as very capable, Greenaway." Gideon nodded.

Fleur smiled,"Welcome to the team!"

"I'm gonna enjoy myself here." Elle grinned.

"What's her name again?" Elijah whispered to Morgan, leaning over.

"Oh my lord." Morgan muttered.

"Strange name, but alright." Elijah nodded.

"No- Elijah." Morgan turned,"Elle, her name is Elle."

"Right- Got it."

"Say it so I know you do."

"That's Elle." Elijah repeated,"Her name is Elle."

Morgan chuckled and nodded,"You got it."
