Chapter 129 - Little Reid
Elijah was looking over everything in the nursery, double and triple-checking that everything was where it was supposed to be.
"It looks perfect. I love the colour." Reid smiled from the doorway.
"You think?" Elijah looked over at him.
"Yeah, we did great." He nodded.
"We did." Elijah nodded slowly.
"We're going to be dads." Reid smiled.
"We're finally going to be dads." Elijah clapped excitedly.
Reid looked at the crib before he hugged Elijah.
"It's.. It's real."
"It is." Reid chuckled.
"Ten years together.. And it's all been leading up to this." Elijah smiled
"Marriage and a kid in the same year?" Reid joked.
"Hey, we would've been married years ago if it was legal." Elijah pointed.
"I wish it was legal." Reid sighed.
"Well, you wouldn't have that ring on your finger if the government didn't make a good decision for once." Elijah hummed.
"They're slowly getting better." Reid chuckled.
"I wouldn't go that far." Elijah shook his head.
Reid nudged him,"Come on, we better start heading."
"God, I'm nervous now." Elijah sighed as he headed for the door.
"You're okay." Reid assured him.
"So are you." Elijah reached for his hand.
Reid smiled softly,"I love you." He said, taking his hand.
"I love you too." Elijah squeezed his hand.
"Let's go get our daughter." Reid nodded.

"Are you ready?" Elijah asked quietly as they walked into the adoption centre.
"As I'll ever be." Reid smiled, looking around.
"Uh, hi." Elijah nodded as he walked up to the reception desk.
"Hi, how can I help you?" The receptionist hummed.
"We're the Reids." Elijah told her,"We're supposed to be picking up our daughter today."
"Oh! Yes, I read your files. You two are..FBI, right?" She looked up.
"Yes, we are." He nodded.
"Alright, let me see.. Alright, so she just got transferred here from the hospital a few hours ago, let me go tell her carer that you two are here."
"That would be great, thank you."
The receptionist then stood up, leaving her office.
"I'm shaking- Should I be shaking?" Reid cursed.
"It's okay, you're just nervous- Or excited, or both." Elijah took his hands.
"Both." Reid nodded.
"I'm scared.. Do you really think we can do this?" Elijah asked.
"I hope we can." Reid squeezed Elijah's hands.
"Me too." Elijah sighed.
"Alright, would you two like to come through?" The receptionist walked out of the room.
"Yes- Yes, we would." Elijah nodded, looking back at Reid.
Reid smiled at Elijah as they walked through, sitting at the desk.
"So everything came back positive with both yourselves and baby." Sharon, the manager, hummed.
"That's good, right?" Elijah blinked.
"It's great." Sharon chuckled,"Do you have a name planned for your daughter?"
"We had been considering a few." Reid nodded.
"Okay, have you decided?" Sharon grabbed her pen.
Elijah looked over at Reid,"Elizabeth Diana Reid."
Reid smiled softly, looking at Elijah.
"Perfect." Sharon wrote it down.
"Can.. Can we see her now?" Elijah asked.
"Of course." Sharon smiled, after a moment a woman walked through with a small baby girl in her arms..Elizabeth.
"Oh my goodness.."
"She's so small." Reid smiled.
"I know." Elijah nodded slowly as he carefully took Elizabeth.
"Hi Lizzie." Reid whispered.
"Our Lizzie." Elijah smiled softly.
Lizzie opened her eyes and looked up at Elijah.
"Oh- Oh, hi." Elijah looked down at her.
"Oh my god." Reid chuckled.
"Do you want to hold her?" Elijah asked.
"Yeah." Reid nodded.
"Here." Elijah carefully handed over Lizzie.
"Oh hello." Reid whispered.
Lizzie looked up at Reid, smiling slightly.
"She smiled at me." Reid gasped.
"She likes you." Elijah hummed.
"You think?" He smiled.
"I know." Elijah nodded.
"I think she loves us both."
"I hope so."
"Hi sweetheart." Reid chuckled.
"Are you ready to take her home?" Elijah asked, looking down at her.
"I am." Reid nodded.
"Is there anything else we need to do?" Elijah looked to Sharon.
"Not at the moment. But I will be conducting a routine check in a few weeks just to make sure you both and Elizabeth have settled in." Sharon told them.
"Thank you, so much." Elijah smiled.
"I'll see you two around. Enjoy." Sharon chuckled.
"We will." Reid nodded.
Sharon waved them off as the two of them left, Reid placing Lizzie in the stroller.
"We have a baby." Elijah whispered.
"A baby girl." Reid nudged him.
"Do you think the boys will like hee?" Elijah asked.
"Of course they will." Reid nodded.
"Do you want to hold her in the car while I drive?" Elijah asked.
"If you want." Reid looked at him.
"I'm so excited to bring her home." Elijah nodded.
"Let's go then." Reid smiled.
*********************************
"Welcome home, baby girl." Elijah smiled as he held the door open for Reid and Lizzie.
"Boys, come meet your sister!" Reid called out.
Horatio rounded the corner first but paused. Meanwhile, Rigatoni ran straight over and began pawing at Reid's legs.
"Hi buddy, this is your sister." Reid whispered, lowering the car seat.
Horatio tilted his head as he sniffed her, his paws now resting on the car seat.
Lizzie was fast asleep in the car seat while the boys sniffed her.
"See? They're good with her." Reid smiled.
"Such good boys, aren't you?" Elijah stroked Horatio.
Horatio looked at Elijah, almost to reassure himself while Rigatoni was still watching.
"We both still love you." Reid pointed at them.
Rigatoni purred and looked up at them.
"Okay, well, we got the baby home.. Now what?" Elijah blinked.
"We take her to her room and then we let her sleep?" Reid guessed.
"Makes sense." Elijah shrugged.
"Then we can let everyone know." Reid assured him.
"I can't wait for them to meet her." Elijah nodded as he got Lizzie out of her carseat.
"Oh my goodness." Reid chuckled.
"And they're all going to love you, just like we do.. But not as much as we do." Elijah whispered.
"Because we love you a lot more than them." Reid nodded.
"Our little angel." Elijah hummed as he started walking upstairs.
*********************************
It had been a week since the two got Lizzie, she had settled in great.
"Okay, Morgan called. Both him, Fleur and Hank are on their way over." Reid walked into the living room.
"That's great- Fleur is gonna love Lizzie." Elijah leaned back in the couch.
"Is she still sleeping?" Reid asked.
"Not for long." Elijah nodded.
"She wakes up at the worst times." He chuckled.
"She's not going to sleep tonight, I can feel it." Elijah stood up and stretched.
"Then we'll take turns staying up." He assured him.
"Good idea."
That's when all a sudden the doorbell went.
"Oh- I'll get that." Elijah walked to the door,"You can get Lizzie."
"Alright love." Reid kissed his cheek and walked upstairs.
With that, Elijah smiled as he opened the door.
"Where is she?" Fleur gasped.
"Reid is just bringing her downstairs." Elijah chuckled softly as he held the door open.
"Congratulations, kiddo." Morgan hugged him.
"Thanks, Morgan." Elijah smiled.
"How has the first week been?" Fleur asked.
"Tiring, scary.. But exciting." Elijah told him.
"The adrenaline comes off and you get exhausted." Fleur nodded.
"Oh yeah." Elijah nodded slowly,"We're getting there."
"How has she settled in?" Morgan asked while they pushed Hanks stroller in.
"Really well, actually." Elijah told him,"I didn't think it was possible to love something so much."
"Tell me about it." Fleur hummed,"Think of the play dates they can have."
"Already picturing it now." Elijah nodded as Reid walked down the stairs,"Oh, speaking of the little lady."
Lizzie was wide awake, babbling in her fathers arms.
"Oh my god." Fleur smiled.
"This is Lizzie." Elijah walked over to Reid, looking down at her.
"Hi sweetheart." Morgan chuckled.
"Would you like to hold her?" Reid looked between them.
"If you're willing to let her go." Fleur chuckled.
"I am." Reid nodded slowly.
"Oh come here sweet girl." Fleur gently took Lizzie.
"She's tiny." Morgan hummed.
"Oh, I don't even think Hank was this size." Fleur chuckled.
"I'm always scared I'll break her." Elijah shook his head.
"Trust me, I felt the same."
Lizzie opened her eyes, looking up at Fleur.
"Hi baby." Fleur gasped.
Elijah reached over, waving her little hand,"Hi."
"Oh she's adorable." Morgan chuckled.
"She is." Reid nodded.
"You guys got a good kid." Morgan nodded.
"I'm going to teach her so many things when she's bigger." Elijah told them.
"You'll make her first word be a swear." Fleur pointed.
"Wh- That was never my intention." Elijah pointed back.
"It will be." Reid joked.
"Of course it will, who's baby do you think this is?" Elijah winked.
"You want to meet your cousin?" Fleur asked Lizzie.
"I'm sure you do." Reid nodded.
"Get Hank." Fleur nudged Morgan.
"I'm getting him." Morgan began getting him out of his seat.
Hank was now wide awake, looking around the room.
"Hey, little man." Elijah smiled at him.
"Oh, these two are gonna be menaces." Fleur chuckled as the pair looked at each other.
"Our children? Menaces?" Elijah looked between them,"Yeah.. Yeah, you're right."
Hank giggled and reached out for Lizzie.
"Oh definitely." Morgan nodded.
"They'll certainly be a handful." Reid agreed.
"When are you guys back at work?" Fleur asked.
"Soon, I know you missed me." Elijah told her.
"So much."
"Well, I can't blame you."
"It's boring. There's talk about bringing on another guy." Fleur pointed.
"Another guy?" Elijah blinked.
"Mhm." Fleur nodded.
"You'll be interrogating him, no doubt." Reid looked over at Elijah.
"Of course you would." Morgan chuckled.
"I need to know if he's doing to do well as your replacement." Elijah shrugged.
"Replacement? Oh no, no one can replace me." Morgan laughed.
"They'll try, we need some muscley backup." Reid crossed his arms.
"You two have muscles." He pointed.
"Not as big as yours." Elijah shrugged.
"True." Morgan smirked.
"What if I show up and I don't like him?" Elijah sighed.
"Well, we can both judge him." Fleur nudged him.
"Alright, I think I could maybe handle that." Elijah nodded.
"You two are always so judgy." Reid pointed,"Remember Seaver?"
"Unfortunately." Fleur nodded.
"In my defense, I still hate that bitch." Elijah hummed.
"She wasn't that bad." Morgan sighed.
"She told us to just 'get over' Emily's death." Elijah pointed.
"..Okay, maybe she was." Morgan nodded.
"And if she said one more thing about her dad-" Elijah continued.
"Okay, calm down." Reid out a hand on his shoulder.
"He's got a point, Spence." Fleur hummed.
"I know, but being angry about it isn't going to change it." Reid patted his shoulder.
"She's gone now anyway." Morgan assured him.
"Thank god." Elijah muttered.
"Let's let these two play for a lil' bit, hm?" Reid suggested.
"Sounda good to me." Morgan nodded.
