'Lonely' at the Tower
Summary.
The mind and feelings of Peter the insomniac.
—
It was another one of those nights.
Days.
Weeks.
Months.
Years.
Life.
Sleep. A condition of body and mind such as that which typically recurs for several hours every night, in which the nervous system is relatively inactive, the eyes closed, the postural muscles relaxed, and consciousness practically suspended. Straight from Google's dictionary.
Sleep doesn't occur much in the life of young Peter Parker. Worry, depression, anxiety, sadness, darkness, pain. A constant cycle of his life.
Worry for his loved ones, family, friends, and the people of Queens and New York. The world.
Depression. The constant feeling in the back of his head when he wants to be happy and feel okay.
Anxiety. The pressure on his chest, constantly suffocating him with worries and doubts. Negativity and fear.
Sadness. Sadness for the ones he has lost. People of lost. Loss in general. The constant sadness that he feels as he puts on the brightest grins.
Darkness. The darkness swirling in his amber eyes. The feeling of darkness consuming his slowly.
Pain. The pain of the deaths that weigh on his chest. The pain of the mental and physical scars that have been inflicted upon him. The constant pain of being alive.
Sometimes, he just wants to give in.
The tower was empty and cold. Empty of the normal chatter even though he knew that the members of the Avengers and family were sleeping. He couldn't sleep.
It started at 10:52 pm. Slowly transferring to 11:59 pm. Leading into 1:04 am. He was awake for all of that.
Deciding to do something productive, the brunet stood from his bed, sluggishly limping to his studio that he created in his lab. Placing his headphones on, he turned on Death of a Bachelor by Panic! at the Disco.
"Do I look lonely?" He asked the emptiness of the studio, his voice deep and seemingly shaking the room.
"I see the shadows on my face...
People have told me, I don't look the same." Peter led off, his eyes closing as his body swayed softly.
"Maybe I lost weight,
I'm playing hooky, with the best of the best,
Put my heart on my chest, so that you can see it, too.
"I'm walking the long road, watching the sky fall.
The lace in your dress tingles my neck, how do I live?
The death of a bachelor!
Oh oh,
Letting the water fall.
The death of a bachelor!
Oh oh,
Seems so fitting for...
Happily ever after (woo)!
How could I ask for more?
A lifetime of laughter,
At the expense, of the death of a bachelor.
"I'm cutting my mind off,
Feels like my heart is going to burst.
Alone at a table for two, and I just wanna be served.
And when you think of me, am I the best you've ever had?
Share one more drink with me, smile even though you're sad.
"I'm walking the long road, watching the sky fall.
The lace in your dress tingles my neck, how do I live?
The death of a bachelor!
Oh oh,
Letting the water fall.
The death of a bachelor!
Oh oh,

Happily ever after (woo)!

A lifetime of laughter,
At the expense. of the death of a bachelor..." He hums at the end, smiling softly to himself.
Little did he know, fellow members were in the security room, fast asleep after hearing the singing of Peter Parker. Little did he know, the team got JARVIS to save the footage of him singing.
Little did he know, they all cared about him so much. They were family.
