                    Rory had been drinking since she arrived at the party. She knew she probably shouldn't have gone as heavy as she had, but after the shit she had to go through, she needed to let loose. The amount of alcohol she had consumed was really clouding her judgement because she had somehow separated from Caroline and Rae and was now in the middle of the dance floor by herself.

The music was really loud, blasting some overplayed pop song that Rory didn't really know, but she was too intoxicated to care. She was trying to have fun, but even in her inebriated state, her mind kept drifting to one person in particular.

The whole time she was there she kept thinking about Corpse and she wasn't entirely sure why. She kept wondering if he had showed up to the party like he said he'd consider, but Rory didn't even know what he looked like so she wouldn't be able to tell if he did or not. She knew why he didn't want to come and it was completely fine with her. She never wanted to put him in a position where he would feel uncomfortable, but a small part of her hoped he might change his mind for her.

It got later in the evening and Rory was still dancing with some drunk guy. He had his hands on her waist as they moved to the music. Normally, Rory had no problem dancing with strangers at parties. She did it all the time. But this time felt different. She felt guilty and she couldn't work out why. Maybe it was the fact she had ditched her friends. Or maybe it was because this guy was clearly hoping to get lucky tonight, but it sadly wasn't going to be with Rory.

     Rory thought about those two reasons hard. But they weren't why she was feeling that way. At least she didn't think they were. Maybe she was too drunk and the music was too loud for her to concentrate, but she had a feeling it was something else.

     Rory pulled the guy off of her, turning away from him as she stumbled out of the crowd. The guy just stood there, confused at what he'd done wrong and wondering if she would come back. Rory was scanning the room in the hopes of finding someone she knew. She wasn't having fun anymore and she just wanted to go home, but she couldn't see the others. It was too dark and crowded for her to see the girls.

     Rory ended up pushing her way to the bathroom so she could pull out her phone to figure out where everyone else was. She sent Caroline and Rae messages, but they didn't respond. Rory let out a sigh as she pushed herself up onto of the counter where the sinks were. It was slightly damp, but she wasn't too concerned with that. Her head was pounding and she could still hear the muffled music through the door.

     It probably wasn't the best idea, but as she stated at the phone in her hand, she opened her contacts and pressed the first name she saw. The name she couldn't stop thinking about.

     The phone started ringing and Rory held it up to her ear as she hoped the person on the other end was still awake to answer her call. After a few seconds of ringing, the person picked up and a smile immediately grew on Rory's face.

"Hello?"

"Corpsey!" Rory cheered into the phone, giggling at herself. "You're awake!"

"I am," Corpse replied, laughing slightly. "And you're drunk."

"Pshhhh no I'm not," Rory replied, hiccuping after she spoke which only made Corpse laugh more. "I'm just slightly intoxicated. Just a smidge. Well, not as drunk as I have been. One time I woke up in Caroline's apartment in her bathtub. I don't even know how I did that, but it happened. And then there was this other time—" Rory rambled on. She was just saying whatever came to mind without even questioning whether she should be telling Corpse all of it. But she felt comfortable enough to tell him all the embarrassing stories because she knew he wouldn't judge her.

Corpse sat quietly, listening to Rory try to tell him a story that he wasn't sure she even understood. He just listened, laughing to himself as she slurred her words and went off on tangents. It wasn't even a long story, but Rory had managed to drag it out somehow. Corpse just liked hearing how excited she was to tell him the story even if he was struggling to keep up with Rory's retelling.

"Where even are you?" Corpse asked once Rory finished talking about something she had overheard that night.

     "In the bathroom of some club," Rory answered. "It was getting too loud out there."

     "Where are your friends?"

     "I don't know. We got separated and so I called you because I hate being alone and I needed to talk to someone," Rory told him, honestly. Corpse smiled to himself at the fact that he was the first person Rory thought to call when she needed someone to talk to.

Corpse was about to say something, but he could hear talking on the other end of the phone. He came to the conclusion that one of Rory's friends had found her because he could hear her talking to someone. He was happy that she was back with her friends, but slightly disappointed that their conversation was over. He really did love talking to her.

     "Corpse!" Rory exclaimed once she had finished talking to whoever had entered the bathroom. "Caroline found me so we're leaving. I'll talk to you later. Bye! Love you!" Rory added before abruptly hanging up the phone.

     It wasn't until Rory reached the bathroom door that she realised what she had just said to Corpse.

     "Oh, shit."
