CHAPTER THIRTEEN
˖⋆࿐

Rory still wasn't feeling up to streaming again quite yet, but she was happy to play some games with her friends and record them to make a video later on. Seán had messaged her that morning asking if she wanted to play Phasmophobia with him, Felix and Corpse. Rory was more than up for it and immediately replied to say she was happy to play.

Rory had set everything up so that she was recording and had the game ready to go. After a few minutes, everyone else was ready and Rory joined the call. She hadn't had a chance to really play the game yet, but she was really looking forward to it. Especially as she'd get to spend more time with Corpse. She was really enjoying his company more than she ever expected to. She had made a lot of friends from playing online with them and she loved all of them, but she wasn't as close with them as she was with Corpse. Rory found herself talking to him basically every day even if they weren't planning on playing together.

Rory could spend all day thinking about Corpse, but she was snapped from her thoughts as she heard a familiar deep voice say her name.

"Hello, Rory," Corpse said, noticing she had joined the call but hadn't said anything yet.

Rory smiled. "Hi, Corpse," She replied. They could practically hear the smile in her voice.

"We're here too, Rory," Seán said, chuckling as he pretended to sound annoyed, but it didn't work. Rory and Corpse both let out a laugh.

"Yeah, Jesus, Rory," Felix added. Rory continued to laugh, rolling her eyes at how dramatic the boys were being.

"Hi, Seán. Hi, Felix," Rory then said, fulfilling the boy's wishes.

"That's better. Hello, Rory," Seán replied feeling satisfied with himself. They all waited for Felix to say something, but he didn't.

"Felix! Say it back you coward," Rory demanded. She was trying to be serious, but she couldn't stop the giggle that left her lips.

"No, you hurt my feelings. Clearly you like Corpse more than us," Felix whined. "But it's fine."

"Oh, my God. Can we just play the game?" Rory asked, trying to change the subject which made the others laugh.

"Yes! Let's go catch some ghosts," Seán announced as the game loaded up.

Rory wasn't too familiar with the game so it took her a few minutes to figure out the different controls that she needed to know. The boys explained the objective of the game to her as they had already played it a few times. Rory was quite good at learning how to play games and could catch on quite quickly.

The game started and they began to move the characters towards the house. Rory had picked something up in the van, but she no clue what it was or what it was for. Normally, Rory liked scary things, but even this was freaking her out a bit. Mainly because of the proximity chat they were using.

"What the fuck am I holding?" Rory asked, looking around the house at the other characters on the screen.

"Uh, that's salt," Seán answered her making Rory furrow her brows.

"Salt? What am I supposed to do with salt? Cook the ghost a nice meal?" Rory questioned, unsure of why she had the object in her hands. The others let out a laugh, still not telling her what she was supposed to do with it. She assumed she'd figure it out soon enough anyway.

Rory didn't know where she was supposed to be going so she started following Felix around. He stopped in front of a TV and somehow managed to turn it on. Both Felix and Rory let out a small yelp as it startled them both. Their scared expressions soon changed as they started laughing at their own stupidity.

"Guys, it's just a TV," Seán told them, humour laced in his voice. Rory could hear Corpse laughing uncontrollably in the background as he entered the room to find Rory and Felix's characters stood in front of the now on TV.

Everyone ended up going their separate ways after the TV incident and Rory was not happy about that. She had no idea what she was doing and she didn't want to be alone, so she decided to find the others. Rory used the walkie talkie feature to call out to the others.

"Where is everyone? Please, I'm scared," Rory spoke, letting out an uncomfortable laugh. There was a few seconds of silence before a voice came through.

"Felix and I are in the basement," Seán replied.

"The basement? Yeah, there's no way I'm going down there. I'll take my chances on my own," Rory told them as she continued to walk through the house.

"I'm back in the living room," Corpse then said through the walkie talkie making Rory perk up. She was close to that room so she could quickly get to him.

"Okay, wait there. I'm coming to you," Rory told him as she left the room she was in and started walking back the way she came. She re-entered the living room to find Corpse stood by the TV that had scared her earlier. "Corpse! Oh, thank God," Rory exhaled, happy that she wasn't alone anymore.

"Where were you?" Corpse laughed as Rory walked over to him. "I was looking everywhere for you."

"I— I don't even know," Rory answered him. The two of them began searching the house together. Corpse's EMF detector went crazy as they walked into the bathroom, so Corpse informed Felix and Seán using the walkie talkie.

"Okay, so he's in here. Let's go," Rory said, not wanting to hang around anymore. Corpse laughed, watching as Rory's character moved closer to the door.

"Charles White," Corpse called out, making Rory widen her eyes. They had told her that calling out the ghosts name could draw them out and she wasn't excited by the idea.

"Corpse, no," She scolded. Corpse let out a giggle.

"I'm sorry. I won't say Charles White anymore," He replied, purposely saying the name again.

"Corpse! Stop!" Rory yelled, laughing as she could hear him giggling.

"Stop what?"

"You know what!"

"Oh, you mean saying Charles White."

Rory let out a scream as she turned the camera to see a dark figure stood in the corner of the room. Felix and Seán had faintly heard the scream as they finished searching the basement. Corpse couldn't stop laughing as Rory's character sprinted past him and out of the room.

Rory took a deep breath before walking back to the doorway of the bathroom. The ghost was still stood in the corner as Corpse watched him, still laughing at Rory's reaction.

"Guys, he's here," Rory spoke into the walkie talkie.

"What's he doing?" Felix asked.

"He's just standing there... menacingly," Rory whispered, watching the ghost from outside the room. Before Felix and Seán could get there, the ghost had disappeared.

"What happened?" Seán asked. "We heard Rory scream."

"Ask Corpse."

Corpse couldn't answer the question as he was practically in tears from laughing so hard. "I'm sorry," He managed to get out before bursting into laughter again. Rory didn't mind. She liked hearing him laugh anyway.
