Author's POV

A very fine evening a boy nearly the age of six or seven was sitting on a bench in a park watching younger children playing with their parents, the boy was watching them with a sad smile planted on his face, he wished to have a happy family as well, he too wanted his mother and father to look after him to give him lots of love, he wants someone he can depend on but he's lonely, his parents left him the day he was born in front of an orphanage where he's living currently

he is even trying to find a family in his orphanage but there other children bully him, beat him, he felt so weak now too he ran away after a fight, he didn't realize a tear slipped from his eyes, he suddenly notices two little hands wiping his tears, he looked in front of him finding a very adorable girl nearly the age of 4 or 5 standing there watching with a confused expression

"Y-you hurt?" she asked cutely, the boy shook his head

"then wae you cry?, mama saz we cry whn we are hut! " (then why you cry ? mama says people cry when they are hurt) she asked pouting, the boy chuckled seeing this baby pouting

" What is your name baby?" the boy asked the girl

"Bella! ma nam is Bella" she said cutely, boy pinches her cheek " so cute name" he said, she made a face when he pinched her cheeks

"whazz your name??" she asked

" Mahir!" he said " Mahii!" she repeated cutely making the other smile

she suddenly notices a wound on other's hand

" Mahii iz hut," she said concerned, Mahir notice his hand he got hurt in a fight in the orphanage

" mama will make Mahii okay," she said "I am okay Bela," he said, she being stubborn shook her head

" Bela!" they both suddenly head a sound of women, women come to them

"Bela! where-" she stopped talking as soon as she noticed a boy sitting there

" Okay! so my Bela already made new friends," she exclaimed  with a smile to Bela

"Hello! I am Bela's mother" she greeted the boy, the boy just bowed with his head showing respect

"What is your name, young boy??" the women asked him

" hiz name is Mahii, mama" Bela interrupted excitedly they both chuckled a little

"Hello! my name is Mahir" Mahir greeted

"Where are your parents where do you live??" she asked the boy, the boy become quite after a few moments he finally speak " I-i don't have parents, I live in an orphanage nearby," he said he can saw pity in women's eyes before the women can speak again she was interrupted by Bela

" mama, Mahii is hut" Bela said showing his hand, her mother gasped

"omg! little boy you are hurt let me treat you," women said said

"I am fine thank you for concern Mrs.," he said

" don't worry I am doctor, it's looking serious little boy let me treat you," she said, Mahir was about to deny " Mahii plzz" he looks at Bela who was winning with concerned eyes, he finally gives in and nodded

The women took the boy with her to her home and treat his wound

"You're done! little boy be careful next time" the women exclaimed, the bot nodded thanking her

"little boy you are my Bela's new friend, I am surprised she never talk to unknown people much," she said smiling, Mahir just nodded bela was looking at her mother trying to understand what she was saying...

" Mahii Bella's friend?" she excitedly asked Mahir, Mahir nodded smiling "Mahir is bela's friend" he said happily,  he's happy he never had any friend before he's all alone in orphanage too, he's happy that this little girl accepts him as her friend

" I think I should take my leave now, thank you Mrs. for treating me," he said while bowing to women showing his respect

" Mahii donn go"( Mahir don't go) Bela wines as she heard her new friend going

"it's okay Bela he may have some work let him go" her mom tries to make her understand but Bela being stubborn shook her head and hold the young boy's wrist...

"donn go! I haven't made you see my bunny friend, I want to play with you" she wine, she already had tears in her cute doe eyes

" I will come tomorrow to play with you," the little boy said wiping the younger girl's tears

" Promise?" she asked showing her pinky finger, little boy  chuckled and attached his pinky finger with her "Promise!" he said while Bela's mother watching both of the children with adoration

The younger girl smile and bid her new friend goodbye

A week went by like this Mahir visit Bella's home regularly, they become really good friends, This day to Mahir went to meet Bela he rang the doorbell a man nearly in his thirties open door.

" Yes! little boy, how may I help you?" the man asked the boy before Mahir can answer they both heard a voice from behind

" Mahiii!" they heard Bella's voice, she came excitedly toward her new friend and jump into his embrace, Mahir catches her and wrapped his arms around her protectively.

The older man smiled looking at the other two with adoration.

"oh! so you are her Mahii, she's been bragging about you all-day" the old man chuckled looking at his daughter, the younger boy smile slightly with the little girl still in his arms.

"Mahii!! I will go to school" Bela said to Mahir excitedly the younger boy smiled at her.

Bela's parents were present there too.

"Mahir!" Bela's after called him

"Yes! sir" younger boy asked

"Mahir, me and my wife were thinking to finance your education," the man said looking at his wife who nodded, Mahir was beyond shock, he always wanted to go to school but there is no one who will pay for his education but he can't accept this offer.

"Thank you so much sir, but I don't want to a burden to you," he said respectfully denying the offer, he can't be a burden on them.

"Little boy you act so mature than your age " the man chuckled...

"We are financing your education because I think you will be so successful in your life if you just got a little support little boy" man said patting boy's head

"But, I will never be able to give you back you big favour sir" boy said, both elders chuckled...

"Do you really want to return our favour back??" the elder asked the younger boy nodded

"then take care of our Bela, she is already attached to you, just protect her and I will think you return me my favour back," the man said looking at his daughter who was busy understanding what's happening around her. the younger boy nodded

" I will protect her sir," he said looking at Bela, the both elder smile

"Okay so I will inform in the orphanage that I will finance your education" the man little bot nodded his head thanking him for his big favour

"now, Mahir will go to Bella's school," Bella's mom said to Bela

As soon as the younger girl heard this she started jumping " yeah!! Mahii will go to my school yeah" the little girl jumped in excitement the other three laughed...

It's been two months since Mahir and Bela are going to school, Mahir is always happy with Bela, her cute talking her improper word pronunciation made the boy laughed.

one day when he was on his way to take Bela from her class and drop her home, he noticed Bela hugging his one of the male friend while laughing, a different feeling inside Mahir rises up

"Bela!" he called her as soon as Bela saw him, she runs to him and hugs him, while Mahir hug him back and glare at the other boy present there

"Mahii!! meeet mt new frnd" she said pointing at the boy, the boy was looking elder than Bela...

" Mahii! he saves me from fall (falling)" she said pointing at him

"are you hurt somewhere??" Mahir asked checking her, she shook her head

"Thank you for preventing her from falling," Mahir said...

" no need to thank, she's my friend now right?" the boy said looking at Bela, she nodded her head here Mahir was burning with a different kind of feeling inside him...

" Bela let's go ! we have to go home," Mahir said holding her hand

"He's comein' too," she said pointing at other male

" I am coming too" the other male quickly said holding the other free hand to Bela. Bela smile at him Mahir was seriously giving a dead glare to other boy

The whole way Bela was talking with her new friend unintentionally ignoring Mahir. little Bela was too young to understand Mahir's feeling, while Mahir was not liking the other male holding his Bela's hand

they reached bela's home, bela's mother came to receive them 

" mama, meet my new friend!" bela said jumping in her mother's embrace, her mother looked at the new companion with  them 

" hello! my name is Aarav" the boy bowed respectfully 

"AAraaav!" bela said starching 'a' too much sounding cute

Bela was playing with her new friend while a certain someone was having some weird feeling inside also known as jealousy 

" you are so cute bela!" Aarav said pinching bela's cheek, bela pouted 

mahir shook his hand from bela's cheek " DO NOT do that" mahir partially yelled "why??" the other male asked before mahir can reply bela's mom enter the room bringing some snacks for them 

"Eat children" she said, they all nodded " Bela! see yours and mahir's favorite ice cream" Bela's mother said bela chuckled 

" I like this flavor too" aarav said, bela giggled and started feeding her ice cream to aarav completely ignoring the other little boy.. 

mahir was really hurt that bela didn't feed him she always feed him even before eating by herself.. 

Bela's mother sense mahir's discomfort "Bela, won't you feed mahir!" bela's mother said pointing at him.. bela nodded and feed spoonful of ice cream to mahir while again get busy talking to her new friend mahir was feeling so ignored  

"I think i should take my leave" mahir said standing up

"mahii! leaving??" bela questioned mahir nodded.. "bye bye mahii" she said, now mahir really felt hurt, at normal days bela won't let mahir go and stick to him even if he mention of going but now she already got a new friend, the poor boy was hurt but still left with a smile may be a fake one...

After two days nothing changed aarav was getting close with bela while mahir was unintentionally ignored by innocent bela 

one day all of them were sitting together bela's parents were present there too, bela was playing. 

"Bela! you got new friends" he said, bela nodded.. 

Now, they were playing chess, the chess match was between mahir and Aarav

"Bela! whose side are you taking??" Bela's mother asked her.. " bela made a thinking face 

"i want both of them to win!" she shouted excitedly, all of them chuckled 

"that can't happen bela, pick one" her mother said.. bela pouted and look toward the game.. 

"whose side are you takin' mama??" Bela asked 

"Mahir is winning, so i am mahir's side" her mother said, mahir smile a bit waiting for bela's reply. 

"Then, I will take AAraav's side" she shouted excitedly, this was something that breaks little mahir's heart, for sure he wanted bela to take his side. he didn't showed it though 

They ere playing Mahir was going to win just two more moves.. 

"You can do it Aarav" she said hoping of other to win, mahir saw excitement in bela's eyes... 

Mahir willingly played the wrong move and loose the game, as soon as the other won bela jumped in excitement she didn't realize and kissed the aarav's cheek in happiness, That weird feeling again runt through  mahir's body, seeing bela happy is the best thing for mahir even if she's happy that he lost...

"I-I think i should take my leave" Mahir said and run from the house before anyone could say anything, trying not to show how hurt he is! 

Bela and her parents were confused but the matter go 

Mahir went to the park and started remembering bela's happy face.. he didn't like the new friend of bela, he wants bela's all attention for himself, he didn't like when bela cheer for Aarav and not for him, it hurts the poor boy..

After a few days mahir didn't showed up nor in school or bela's home, first two days bela asked few times for mahir but then again got engaged playing with her new friend, after a while she started missing mahir, she asked continuously for him, she didn't know why mahir didn't came to meet her, it's first time mahir didn't meet bela for long since they met.. 

"mama, dada where izz mahii" she said with low voice missing him so much.. 

" He must be busy bela" her mother tried to comfort the baby girl. 

"it's okay bela, you can play with me, i am here" AArav said grabbing bela's hand but bela shrugged off her hand from other's hold

"No, i want to meet ma mahii, i miss him" little girl said looking at her parents, they sign. 

"i will asked orphanage, but they said that mahir went from there in morning and return back in evening, where he go they didn't know either" Bela's father said.. 

"But I miss mahii" she said almost in tears.. 

"you will meet her soon bela, he will surely come to your birthday" her mother said comforting the little baby..

It's bela's birthday, she isn't happy at all, she's missing her mahi so her parents decided to take her to the orphanage to made her meet mahir.. 

they reached orphanage, bela was excited to meet mahir but they found out that mahir already left somewhere this morning bela's smile almost faded

they were going back to their home when bela suddenly saw sitting in a park..

"Dada STOP!!" she yelled, her father stopped the car, she went out of the car and run through the park where she saw that boy  sitting there 

"MAHII!!!" she shouted as soon as she recognize  the boy as mahir.. 

Mahir looked at her, he was shocked to saw her here 

" Mahii" she run to him already jumping into his arms, Mahir catch her as soon as he caught her

"I M-miss you" Bela finally sobbed, tears dropping form her beautiful doe eyes, mahir was shocked.. 
"Don't cry Bela" he said trying to comfort her.. 

" W-why you did not c-came to m-meet me, Y-ou didn't e-evn come to play with me" she said between her sobs.. 
"why ?don't you have Aarav to play with" mahir said, bela shook her head.
" I-I W-Wann to play W-with you" she said still sobbing, mahir felt happy that bela really wanted to play with him 

Bela's parents were watching the children from a distance, trying not to interfere in their talks

"Aren't you happy with Aarav you even took his side in that game" mahir said wiping her tears.. 
"N-No! Bela wann Mahii, But you didn't come to meet me even on my birthday " she said and hug him tightly and sobbing more.. 

mahir wipe bela's tears.. 

"I am sorry my princess" he said holding his ears " I-I F-forgive you" bela said

" Happy Birthday my cupcake" he said, bela sniff "Thank y-you" she mumbled 

"i brought you a present" he said and gave bela a teddy bear from his back,  bela giggled and jump in excitement.. "T-Than k you mahii!!" she said hugging that teddy very tightly.. 

"Mahii!! You will never leave again, right?" bela asked looking at mahir, when mahir saw bela's doe eyes looking into his, he nodded 

" i will never leave you my cupcake" mahir said, "Promise?!" bela asked  showing her pinky finger Mahir chuckled but attached his pinky with bela's  "Promise!".

" I love you mahii!" bela said mahir smile " I love you too my little cupckae" he said.. 

Bela's parents were listening to their conversation and were smiling 

But aren't promises are meant to broken??
