Chapter 27: The Original and Her Evil Twin
Emily's POV:
I followed Emily up the stairs and into this room that looked like it was the source of electricity for the entire town.
"Okay this is the last portal we have to go through." Emily smiled and took a bead from her bracelet, holding it up in the air a moment before throwing it onto the ground.
As usual everything faded to black and my cells were torn from my body. This time it didn't last as long as usual.
And this time when I opened my eyes I was standing up.
Emily was standing a few feet back, a huge grin spread across her face.
"Is this the place?" I asked looking around. We were at the edge of a huge dark forest that stretched as far as I could see. Other Emily was standing with a huge field backing her. A strong wind whipped her hair about in a way that made her look kind of creepy.
"Yes...this is the last stop. I don't think you'll need to go anywhere else." Emily smiled.
"Okay. So what do you need help with?" I inquired. I had been away from home for too long. I just wanted to get this over with.
"Well you see, I'm the second Emily created." Emily began. "So when I die, nothing particularly great happens. In fact, whenever the original of anyone thinks something, and then wonders where the heck that thought came from? Yeah that's from all the copies. When one of the original's copies die...we get linked to her."
"What do you mean linked?" I asked.
"Let's just say it's like rolling out dough." Emily explained. "You take out the dough and knead it into a ball. Then you take small bits of dough from the original and make a bunch of small dough balls. Now let's say that you decide to bake one whole loaf of bread instead of a bunch of small ones. You would take the dough and smoosh it back together, starting with ONE of the balls. Let's pretend that ball is the original. All the other pieces of dough get added to it, but it's still the same loaf of bread."
"Okay?" I was still so confused, and now I was HUNGRY. I realized I hadn't eaten in DAYS.
"There's no difference in the taste of the bread. It's exactly the same, just bigger." Emily continued. "It's the same with people. So us copies would have absolutely no control whatsoever over the original. All we can do is think the occasional thought."
"Oh. So am I a copy too?" I asked earnestly. I didn't like the thought of my brain being smooshed into some other Emily's head.
"What I needed help with, was I needed to get rid of the original Emily." Emily went back to being calm. "So I could be the original."
"What do you mean get rid of..." I asked, my mind was now waving warning flags all over the place. I backed up a little.
Emily giggled. No it wasn't her...
Sophie stepped out from behind her. She giggled again, with that evil smile on her face.
"YOU!" I yelled and jumped back.
"How's my prince?" Sophie giggled.
I turned to run but there stood Will. "We've got you trapped." He smirked.
"About time you showed up." Sophie snapped. "We thought you would screw this up too."
Will flinched but said nothing.
"Well!?" Emily stomped her foot at him. "What are you waiting for!?"
"Oh! Oh yeah right!" Will pulled a knife out of his pocket.
"Oh my..." I looked around fearfully. "I DON' WANNA DIE!" I yelled and bolted to the right.
Will lunged at me and caught my wrist. I screamed and punched him in the nose.
"AGH!" He yelled, not letting go of my wrist. "Emi cut it out I'm trying to get us out of here." He whispered.
I glanced at his sweatshirt. The logo was on the right side for it to be MY Will.
He grabbed my other wrist and pretended to tie me up, slipping a tiny bead into my hands.
Then he began twirling the knife in his hands. I started having doubts, what if this WASN'T my Will? What if evil Will had already killed Sophie and Will!?
"You've done away with the others?" Evil Emily asked, her eyes glinting with pleasure.
"Yeah I got rid of them." Will smiled happily. "See? I don't always mess EVERYTHING up!"
Sophie giggled. "That's a first. Well if you're so good at it, then YOU can get rid of Emily."
Will nodded and flipped the knife once more before raising it above his head.
"HOLY FLIP I'M ONLY FIFTEEN!" I yelled. Not my choice of last words, but I couldn't think straight anymore. I was too scared.
I closed my eyes and waited. Then I heard Sophie and Emily yell: "WILL!"
I opened my eyes to see that Will had thrown the knife somewhere into the woods.
"Oh come on guys, knives are so cliche." Will mumbled.
"WILL YOU IDIOT!" Sophie screamed. "YOU'RE TRYING TO SCREW THIS UP!"
Will flinched, but he smirked. "Yeah, yeah I am."
Another Will ran out from the trees. Yelling: "ME TOO!"
"So you're the original!?" Evil Emily hollered. Evil Sophie cried out in indignation.
"No." Both Will's said at the same time and pointed to each other. "He is. No I am. NO YOU ARE!"
Oh gosh my brain hurts again...
Both Wills rushed at Emily and Sophie.
"The game is up." Emily snatched a bead from her bracelet and threw it onto the ground. Sophie jumped into the rift-y portal-y thing it made. The portal thing closed leaving us stranded there.
"Quick! Jump into it on three!" Will yelled. Lifting a bead high into the air. "One! Two! THREE!" He smashed the bead and we all jumped into the portal.
This time however, I didn't get ripped apart. Instead I immediately found myself in the strange attic of genius Will.
"Come on!" One of the Wills shouted and ran off.
"Are you okay?" The other asked me as we raced down the stairs and through the hall.
"Yeah, I'm okay. What the heck is going on?"
"We have to stop Evil Sophie and Emily, otherwise their just going to keep trying to kill us." Will explained.
Genius Will was walking down the hall, holding a little red-haired girl's hand. Beside him walked Adult Sophie.
Genius Will beamed and waved to me as I ran past him. I smiled and waved back.
Will stared like an idiot at them. "WAS THAT ME AS A GROWN-UP!" He cried.
"Yes." I nodded, trying not to lose my breath.
"AND SOPHIE!?" Will yelled, glancing back over his shoulder.
"Yes." I said again.
"But you were still little." Will pointed out.
"No, that's your kid. You named her after me though." I smirked and sped ahead.
"WHAT!" Will yelled.
"GUYS HURRY THEY'RE JUST UP AHEAD!" Other Will yelled from a few feet in front of us.
"I know!" I exclaimed. Then I fingered the bead Will had put in my hands earlier. It was the same kind that Evil me used.
I rounded a corner and saw them up ahead. If I jumped at them I would probably catch their feet. Instead I threw the bead and it smashed right in front of them.
Screaming and waving their arms, the evil girls fell into the rift. I jumped in after them with both Wills behind me.
I was expecting to come back to the masked dimension, but instead I saw a castle off in the distance.
What the...
