66: #GTFO of Earth (Part 6)
"Desecrators" was what Barachiel described us to be and perhaps in this world that was what we really were.
Today we desecrate the taboos limited to Earth not because of the mirth obtained from crossing the boundaries but because in the end, defiling those taboos will give humanity one last wake-up call.
But now I was questioning that purpose.
What can that warning do? What can humanity and all of Earth's inhabitants do to prevent another attempt of God to destroy the planet? With what we were doing, we were only delaying the inevitable because sooner or later, with or without us wanting it and with or without Lucifer and Samael, the God of Earth will have His way.
Earth was His planet and we were only trespassing and stealing what was His to begin with. What right do we have to intervene? What place do we possess to oppose? Did we really have the right to intervene with God's work?
Was being a Paragon really enough?
My senses awakened just as when I felt my body got tossed away by a shock wave. My body uncontrollably whirled on the uneven ground with the painful bumps and obstacles beating me up causing me to groan from the harsh awakening.
I felt so weak and...feverish and my eyes continued to have glitches.
The scent of blood, the continuous detonation of bombs and the unending release of bullets welcomed me back to reality. The buildings around me were on flames and I could hear the holler of men and women in desperate escape from the ones flying above us. This was just too much to take in. Was I dreaming?
I turned my head to look the other way and my eyes widened and my breath hitched when I came face-to-face with a dead human child. His eyes were still open and focused on me like he was narrating how he fell into the hole of death. An arrow was stuck to his chest with his mouth opened in a scream that he may or may have not been able to release before his death.
I gathered all my strength to reach out to touch the child's face and murmured an apology. He must have been really scared. Where were his parents? Did they know that he died? Did he look for them while he was on his last seconds? What could I have done for him?
"I am sorry," I murmured to him and passed my hands over his eyes to close them. You must have been really scared. Your parents must be worried about you or did they know? Their ticker must be in severe pain from losing you. "Know that my ticker bleeds for you..." I whispered to him.
"Aecha!" Hoets' voice ruptured through the midst of the screams and cries of those around me.
I had my hand push my upper body up and found Hoets sprinting towards me. My chest tightened from the sight before me were there were hundreds of dead bodies, fallen infrastructures and abandoned cars obstructing the road. More buildings were currently in the verge of falling and the sound of metal groaning can be heard from the distance.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry, Imsothy's bombs caused me to let go of you," he apologized sheepishly.
"Wh-what happened?" I croaked out. Hoets' cheerful face scorned with sadness.
"When you were inside Elim, Asahi decided to summon the catastrophes. We hacked every device in the city so that I can manipulate the citizens to leave and though the catastrophes haven't showed up yet, angels arrived and began to kill everyone. It's happening all around the world but the attack is more focused on this area," he told me as he hoisted me up his back.
"Where's Elim?" I asked him.
"He's with Luka now. A spirit departed from Elim's body and disintegrated in midair. Elim hasn't woken up yet but someone from the Land of Eli picked them up.
A breath of relief partly decompressed the intense pressure in my chest and I fell limp against my teammate's well-built back.
"Luka said thank you and said that if you ever need anything, just let him know," Hoets added making me feel a lot better of myself.
I cannot bring back what was already done and blaming myself will only hold me back from progressing. I need to make sure that those deaths will be brought to justice. This was not the time to weep; it was the time to make a leap to victory.
"What happened to Asahi-ssu?" I asked. He was very quiet and usually he would comment on something in which involved him but...Nope, nothing. He was still quiet.
Hoets eyes widened and he cleared his throat.
"Ah...he attached himself to another body," he told me.
"What?!" I exclaimed in shock.
"He told us that since you're useless with how you are now, he went out for a bit and then the chain on your ankle visibly detached and was hauled away."
I know I should not worry about him much because he was a King and seemed to be very intellectual however; he seemed to be the type who would scare a kitten who would randomly pass by. I'll just have to trust him. He wouldn't betray Lucian-ssu.
Now, I had one problem out of the many that will truly make all of this difficult.
"Hoets I can't fight," I admitted to him when I saw the angels roaming around us. All I can do was leap for now but I don't think that can really take me to victory.
"I feel really weak," I added.
I was basically deadweight to him and he can't defend himself while I was hanging on his back.
My teammate hummed in a relaxed way as he hiked us through the rifts and bumps in the road. "There's a reason why you're given in my care," Hoets assured me. My ticker reeled in a fast pace when I perceived four angels gliding to our direction fully armed and ready to launch their spears at us.
"Hoets they're coming!" I exclaimed.
"I know," he replied coolly and continued to walk like we were not in the verge of being speared.
I lifted my head up to get a better glimpse of the angels and I began to squirm. "You have to run Hoets! Leave me here!" I yelled at him.
"We're fine, don't worry," he assured. I think I was going to faint. Was Hoets suicidal? Is that why they gave me to him?
"Aecha do me a favor and have your system disable your hearing for a second," he requested. Why was Hoets asking me this? Was it because he didn't want me to hear how we were going to perish?
"Will I still get to eat Ki's cooking after this?" I asked causing Hoets to chuckle.
"You'll even make it to dessert," he convinced.
He had made a good point there. I had my malfunctioning system disable my hearing for a while and I shut my eyes for an impending pain. A few seconds had passed and I felt gushes of air around us before I felt Hoets's hand squeeze my calf as an indication that he was done with whatever he did.
Astonishment filled me when I found the angels dead on the ground with their own spears stuck to their chest. There was one angel still alive and he stared at Hoets with pure obedience just waiting for another instruction.
"What did you do?" I asked Hoets.
"Oh nothing," he chirped. He gave the angel a nod and the creature of heaven flew up with a brand new target in sight—a fellow angel.
This must be what Won told me about before. Hoets was a child of Ictus in which he had a special power given from a rush of electricity from his birth tree during child-bearing. Hoets can manipulate those around him and make them do whatever he wanted.
"Let's go," Hoets declared and leaped from the ground to go pass the crowded area of cars.
Team Ske was already proceeding ahead saving more people and instructing them to evacuate the city and go somewhere less crowded. Although the whole world was infested with angels, soon another set of chaos will march inside the city and they will definitely do more damage as they finally show the world what devastation walked through Earth thousands of years ago.
Hoets was given the tasks to take care of me and to observe the whole city from above. We were looking for a good place that will overlook the whole city and Willis Tower was the closest and the tallest.
"Hi Aecha! How are you?!" Hyuk Min screamed through our communicator and I heard bombs exploding in the background. "Imsothy you dung ball, slow down with the bombs!" he complained.
A series of bullets occurred in Joe's communicator while I heard his motivating statement of enjoyment. "Get wrecked!" he cheered before releasing a scream of cowardice. "AAAAAAH HELP ME, THERE'S AN ICKY BUG ON MY SHOULDER!"
"Everyone calm down, don't panic, take deep breaths okay?" Stugox reassured the survivors. It was all quiet and calm in Stugox's side until Joe's faint scream started to grow as he approached where our leader was. Joe's scream apparently stirred up a commotion with the survivors and we can vaguely hear Stugox sigh in exasperation.
"We're all going to die!" Joe bawled.
"You guys are so noisy, I'm trying to take a nap here," Won groaned.
"Won you aren't allowed to take naps on missions! Be professional will you?!" Ki scolded.
While each member of Team Ske fought their own battles, Hoets and I traveled to the tower with much haste especially when more angels started to appear along the way. Although my teammate was able to control four more of them, I can tell that he was growing weak from using his powers too much. The angels that he manipulated aided in saving the people around us but they were taken down by their fellow angels once they were cornered.
Hoets fell on his knee and I moved out of his arms but stumbled back and landed on my bottom. I released a winced and held on to my painful stomach. It was aching very much and my fever was not lowering down. My system could not fathom what was wrong with me but perhaps it was because it couldn't recognize the origin since it was already malfunctioning.
"Damn, I've used my powers too much. These guys just keep coming for more of my sexiness," Hoets laughed out exhaustingly.
"I am only slowing you down; please head to the tower without me. I will hide until I recover," I told Hoets who then gave me a disapproving look.
"I can't leave you here," Hoets responded.
"The mission is more important than me Hoets," I told him. Like I said, I was only slowing him down. If he continued to use his powers, none of us will reach the tower in time.
"But you are my mission!" he reasoned out.
"That is the cheesiest thing I ever heard. Why doesn't anyone ever tell me that?" Imsothy commented.
"Don't be fooled Aecha, Hoets tells that to everyone! " Hyuk Min cried out.
"Go Hoets, I'll go where Aecha is and fetch him," Stugox ordered.
Hoets sighed in disfavor and rose up from his spot. He helped me up and looked around for a good hiding spot. There was a closed pet store nearby and he picked the doorknob with his finger that turned into a lockpicker. My teammate stuffed me behind the counter of the store and threw a cover over me.
"Will you really be okay?" he asked me.
I leaned my head against the wall and nodded. "I'll be fine Hoets. Please be careful."
Hoets bowed his head and straightened up, still very unsure of leaving me.
"Kaisen be with you Aecha."
I weakly hit my chest with my fist and smiled. "Kaisen is here."
Hoets left and closed the door behind him leaving me alone in the dim store with the fire from the other buildings bringing illumination inside. My breathing was labored and the pain in my stomach continued to torture me.
"Hang in there Aecha, I'm coming," Stugox comforted.
"Aecha don't fall asleep and keep us updated alright? Don't give up on us!" Hyuk Min reminded me with concern.
"Yes I will do my very best. I am sorry to have become such a burden," I murmured and groaned in pain. Whatever was causing this, my body was incapable of healing it.
"Stop with your introjections. It's making me sick. Self-blaming won't do anyone good, do you hear me?" Ki motivated in the nicest way he can possibly can.
"Don't die okay Aecha? Whatever you do, don't get near anything dangerous!" Joe advised.
I released a chuckle that only caused further ache to my body but I appreciated every word they tell me.
"I will try...I will really try—"
My head snapped up when I heard a frightened cry of what seemed to be a puppy. I quickly rose to my feet and staggered. I immediately anchored my hands on the counter to keep myself up and I walked towards the door and looked through the glass mirror on it. A black puppy ran around confused in the middle of the chaos outside. The puppy then transformed into a child and it dawned to me that he was a werewolf.
"Papa! Daddy!" he wailed. I whipped the door open, completely forgetting the pain in my stomach and I willed myself to run.
"Are you okay?" I asked him once I bent down and took a good look at his face. "You're the child of Luka?" I asked.
"You know my papa?" he questioned me while he sniffled.
I bowed my head and beamed at him. "Yes, I am a friend. I know Elim too. Come on," I urged him and I took his hand, ready to return to my hiding spot but I perceived the gathering of angels around us with their swords and arrows pointed at us.
"Aecha I don't know where you are but it's not safe if you stay out there for too long. Take that kid and hide!" Stugox barked.
I looked at the angels and was completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of them. I gazed down at Luka's child and remembered the young boy whose corpse I came face-to-face with. If I don't do something, this child will end up the same.
"Hide under the car," I whispered down at the child who obediently did what he was told causing the angels to laugh around me.
"You outsiders are funny. Whatever you do, the inevitable is already here. You sparked a war between humanity and God and don't think that the supernatural aren't involved because other than angels and demons, the rest that are not human are all from other worlds. You are here on Earth therefore you must bow down before the God who created it," a female angel stated haughtily.
"Aecha! I'm coming back for you!" Hoets yelled out in panic. All of Team Ske panicked at the situation I was in and I myself was solely focused on keeping Luka's child safe.
"I am proud of where I am from and I respect your God but He isn't mine to serve," I told them which merely caused them to look at me with disgust.
"Kill the non-believer!" the female angel ordered and I drew my gun hastily with a tech-puff.
I shot as many angels as I can, having my system harden my body to shield off any arrows that may come in contact with my skin. The tech-puff continued to shoot out the angels while dodging their attacks.
A sword managed to pierce through my lower hip just in time when my system failed to harden my exterior hardware and I released a whimper. The female angel raised her sword and was ready to strike down when all of them blanked out and froze.
"I-I can't see!" she gasped and stumbled back. The other angels also had troubles with their hearing and vision as their senses were seemingly blocked.
Fire came out of nowhere and burned the angels as it swirled around. The creatures of heaven rolled on the ground to kill the fire consuming their form but were unsuccessful.
"Papa!" the child cried out when Ark-ssu came. Buck-ssu was trailing behind him and they hurried towards us.
"Aecha what the heck happened to you?!" Buck-ssu asked and held on to me.
He punched an angel on fire that was coming right for him and Ark rounded up a kick for the remaining angels who were getting chased by the blaze that he released.
"Let's get to a safe place," Ark spoke while he embraced his son. The four of us went back to the pet store with Buck-ssu assisting me and as he closed the door, I heard a voice cackling lowly.
"Let's open up that dimension and get your booties into Eli," Buck-ssu sighed and sat me down on the cold tiles.
"Where's Daddy?" the child questioned.
"They're where Uncle Lucifer is Cerby. We'll be going there," Ark replied while he stroked Cerby's head and held him close.
The pain in my stomach heightened even more than my newly acquired wound wherein a sword was sticking in and I released a pained scream, catching their attention.
If possible, the condition of my system was getting way worse. I can't hear Team Ske anymore.
"Aecha what's the matter?" Buck-ssu asked.
"You think you can get rid of me that easily?" he seethed. Despite meeting him once, I know that voice well.
"You're still here..." I wheezed out.
The angel's deformed spirit appeared in front of me. Half of his soul was already blasted off by my birth weapon yet he can further push his spear with much strength. His eyes gazed at me intently with a smile adorning half of what was left of his lips. Dark matter continued to ooze out from his spirit though Buck-ssu and Ark-ssu were completely oblivious of it.
"I told you, my God is stronger."
