50: CHRONICLES OF COCO PART 6
How do we live surrounded by judging eyes? How do we survive in a universe with people hauling us down to the ground to kowtow to defeat? How do we become to be people who we want to be with the elements of downfall trying to trample our dreams that we haven't even reached yet?
It can be frustrating at times.
It can be devastating most of the times.
It can be heartbreaking every time we try our hardest yet fail.
But why do we continue to live on despite knowing that life contained desolations and failures? Perhaps the reason was because we fear death for death drained all hopes and dreams.
Life gave different flavors for different individuals. For others it can be an addicting taste and for the rest it can be tiring.
Exactly where do I stand in life?
I have experienced both the sweetness and bitterness of life and I have reached the point of exhaustion from just breathing. I have experienced staring at nothingness while thinking: "What happened? Why was I even here?"
Despite walking aimlessly in life I picked up valuable lessons along the way. You'd think that being dreamless was something bad but despite having no goals and being in no race, continuing on was the best thing I ever did out of all the terrible decisions I made. I didn't stop. I didn't deter. Despite the bruises and the scars on my heart and despite my tired bleeding feet that walked on the most unstable roads I never stopped.
And my road led to him.
I never thought that the path I took was the marrying one.
The most unstable road had the sweetest end.
You cannot dream to eliminate tormentors when the universe was filled with them. You cannot simply live in the sweetness of life without experiencing its bitterness because that was simply living in a delusion. When embarking in a journey you must be prepared to face betrayals and tearful nights of grief because there will be plenty. Your heart will experience days of bleeding but there will also be days of healing.
Play with your persecutors especially those who play with unfairness. Look at them and do not fear the storm they bring. Become the flower that blooms despite the bad conditions. Never surrender because they can never conclude victory when you were still holding on.
If they used you for their own benefits do not let the desolation deter you from living. Grow from their torment and use that profound power to face them in the next game.
Don't forget to thank them. Your gratitude will weaken them with confusion.
I wish I knew all of these before...
I wish I was stronger.
I wish I was less frail.
I wish I was wiser.
I wish I was friends with the God of Time.
Because I wanted to bring back what I destroyed and prevent the losses that broke me piece by piece that made me forget who I really was...
What have I done?
Why didn't you stop me Guardian?
How could you let me end so many lives?
Why did I let him use me?
"Chaos, why are you stripping?" I asked the taller and obviously more muscular male. When he said that we were going to visit the monsters which killed the Toscans, I didn't expect that disarming yourself was a requirement.
"Oh, I need my wings," he explained and tossed away his armor to the sand. "Ready?" he asked me.
"I'm just waiting for your lead," I spoke. Chaos grinned toothily at me before grabbing me and pressing my body against his. Wings sprouted out from his back and they flapped down bringing us up into the air and flapped twice taking us in a high twirling motion to the skies.
"Let's transform into our physical bodies," he instructed me. Without any doubt or distrust I converted myself back into my physical form and my eyes immediately darted to the ocean.
"Now look!" he told me excitedly.
Damn...
"You don't have to tell me..." I murmured as my eyes reflected the scenery below me.
Intrusions can be brutal and can leave a bad taste after all of their barbarity but these outsiders made the Toscans seem like they were squatters in Belraria.
The dry and yellow planet must be glowing in space at this moment. The endless and dull sand before became a gleaming blue ocean filled with life and power. The wide expanse of ocean that drowned the world quenched the thirst of the land. Everything was clear to the eyes of the beholder. The activities of the creatures below me were evident and overall vibrant. There was a big black hole sitting in the depths of the oceanic floor just waiting to be bothered.
"Did all of these come from that black hole?" I asked Chaos.
"Yes, that black hole carried a whole new other world," he replied with a smile.
"But why did they invade Belraria? Where is their planet?" I asked. There must be a reason for them being in here. Was it overpopulation? Were they outcasts? Did they get tired of their own planet?
"Here they come!" Chaos blurted out when four thick tentacles shot out from the waters around us. Another one came out and was heading our way and Chaos quickly evaded it while tightening his hold on me.
"Corlos..." A voice spoke through my head. It wasn't Guardian's voice nor was it Kogen's. The voice was feminine and smooth and it didn't come off as threatening to me. "Did Esgard send you to end us?" she asked me. "We have nowhere else to go...No more planet to come back to. Our Goddess used the last power she had to send us away."
My gaze narrowed at her statements but I opened my ears and heart to what she had to say. "What happened to your planet? What happened to your Goddess?"
The tentacles sank back into the ocean and Chaos spoke with relief oblivious to my secret conversation with whoever I was talking to at the moment.
"Come to me...I will show you," she whispered.
What can go wrong right? She knew my name therefore it was obvious that she knew what kind of God I was. She should at least be scared and not try anything that will tip my nerves.
"I'll be back," I stated.
"Where are you going?" Chaos asked me.
I pointed at the hole and saw Chaos' eyes look at me with question. "Are you crazy?"
"I just want to go for a swim," I replied with a wink before shoving him off of me and letting my body fall.
Chaos gasped and I heard him say: "Kogen is going to skin me alive!" before soaring down to recapture me. A nimble tentacle which seemed to be the hands of errands for the outsiders came out and dragged me down to its cold chamber.
I don't know where I was getting myself into but what was life without taking risks? How can you live without crossing an unstable bridge? Take a leap of faith and discover that not every fall can mean your downfall.
The tentacle hauled me deeper into the ocean and into the dark embrace of the hole that hid the world that only came out at night. I saw Chaos swimming towards me and I waved at him. Just as our hands almost touched, the hole closed much to his dismay.
He worried too much.
The voice continued to talk to me and briefed me in visual of how they ended up here.
"You are the God of Destruction, God of Death, God of War and God of Battle but the end of our planet and the death of our Goddess were not brought by you; they were brought by Imjir and Sulios..."
My eyes were engulfed by a vision of the past that was carried by those pained by the memories. A world was shown but instead of a sea of water, a sea of fire engulfed the whole planet burning all those who were living. The Goddess descended from above and battled the Gods who harmed her creations.
"Surrender Yvara and submit to us only then will we stop our havoc!" Imjir offered as he watched Sulios and Yvara fight. Imjir had a thin and long braided hair mildly floating behind him which reached his lower back simply signifying the length of false righteousness and envy he had.
"I am a Goddess and I was born with dignity! I will not allow you to step out of this planet and harm our brothers and sisters!" the Goddess snarled. Her tanned skin was covered with lacerations from the whips of Sulios' blade.
Imjir grinned and rubbed his oddly shaped chin. "Shame...I was actually helping you preserve what dignity you have left. Oh well, let's take this the hard way. Your agony shall feed my amusement."
It was painful to look at and bewilderment poke out a question. I didn't understand the ecstasy obtained from causing such pain to others. What did he get from this? Why can't he just initiate a battle to Gods and Goddesses who were willing?
The clashing of blades resounded and the Goddess fought Sulios with all her might despite being surrounded by the death and screams of her children. Tears fell from her stormy blue eyes yet she had the upper hand against Sulios because she bore the wrath of a God.
My jaw clenched once Yvara won because once she was able to strike Sulios down, she didn't expect the strike coming from behind her. Imjir had no honor.
"We were a peaceful planet...Our Goddess Yvara loved us with all her heart and made our world envied by many others...including the eyes of the God of Hatred, Envy and Mischief. Imjir dove into our planet possessing a God of Destruction by his side. They caused wreckage. They tortured the innocent. They burned us with their contempt. Yvara descended and with all her power she tried to save what was left. She was able to kill Sulios but Imjir took it upon his hands for victory to lean against his side no matter what. With what life was left within her, the goddess sacrificed herself in order to send us away with a smaller world made from her fragments. The trauma was still fresh in our hearts and minds and we became vengeful orphans. "
"The very reason why you killed the toscans right? You became your own monsters," I drawled when the vision ended and complete darkness filled my senses.
"We apologized to Esgard and we understand if you were sent to end us. We feel that we are burdening Belraria with our presence."
Their viciousness was not entirely their fault. Their home was not just stolen from them but it was completely destroyed by Imjir and Sulios.
"That's where you are wrong. You brought new color to this world and Esgard might be pleased with that. Where is Imjir now? " I asked her. If I ever meet him, I won't give him a piece of my mind; I'll just take pieces of him instead.
"We don't know... It had been fifty years since it happened. Hopefully someone had stopped him from sealing Gods and Goddesses in stones—"
"He's what?"
He must be the one Kogen was looking for. If there was someone lurking around the temple and eyeing the light stone of Esgard, that must be Imjir.
"What's your name? Wait, I'll just call you Ten Ten short for tentacles. I'll come back tomorrow. I have to discuss this with another God," I spoke to her.
"Yes Lord, of course. We will be waiting..."
I woke up somewhat soaked from my night swimming and was currently being bombarded with questions from Kogen and Chaos. Apparently, Chaos sent a whole dispatch team to find me but was cut short when dawn came and the shifting between death to life occurred. His dispatch team vanished since they were part of Esgard's creation and he was left with Rupture and Kogen. Did I really look like a weakling to his eyes?
The sun was already up and the smooth fine sand lied beneath me. Ten Ten must have kept me there longer than I thought.
"A tentacle brought you to the surface. Do you mind telling me what happened to you?" Kogen asked me. He was a lot calmer than before and I didn't have the mood to argue with him... Yet. Yes, I still hold a grudge from our last dispute.
We were back at the temple after waiting a few hours and I was sitting on my bed wearing new clothes after taking a nice bath.
"Do you know Imjir?" I questioned which immediately raised awareness to Kogen's behavior.
"Imjir?!"
"That seems to be a yes. Is he still alive?"
Kogen sat on the bed across mine with a grave expression. "I already killed him forty years ago. How do you know him?"
And here I thought I already discovered the one sneaking around. But what if Kogen was unsuccessful with killing him? What if he survived? Imjir would have likely faked his death since he seemed good at faking everything.
"The creatures that killed the toscans had their world destroyed by Imjir. What exactly is Imjir's deal? He's such a jealous bitch."
Kogen's scowl worsened and stress was written all over his face. "He's one fellow that I despised the most. He is the complete opposite of me. He is full of dishonesty and greed that I had no other choice but to take matters into my hand and end him. Now that his name floated to this day, I fear that he may be still alive and causing havoc... No, he may be the very reason for the recent destruction of planets and the disappearances of many Gods and Goddesses. "
A knock on our door broke our conversation and Rupture entered with a tray of food in his hand.
"Good Morning," he greeted. "I hope I'm not interrupting something serious," he chuckled.
"You just did but it is fine, you brought food," I replied jokingly. "Have you seen any lurking eyes last night?" I asked.
"None, it has been pretty quiet. The only thing you should worry for is Ebu. She found out that you were with Chaos all night and she has been quite the mess."
"Right..." I drawled. She's honestly the last person that I'll consider as a problem. That was actually a complement really. That meant that she wasn't considered important enough for me to mind yet.
Many more nights came and they were spent with Chaos. It was not on purpose and I wasn't intending to annoy Ebu at all. I had bigger problems that needed fixing. Kogen was on guard all night with Rupture and I was bored in the temple.
The tentacles that were once deemed deadly were now just wriggling worms minding their own business.
Chaos and I sat on a raft while our legs dangled out into the cold water. He begged Rupture to give him the morning duties just so we can continue to go out here at night.
"I meant to ask; how did Kogen and your birth parent meet?"
"They just hit it off and I was the product," I replied.
Interest sparked in his eyes and I was becoming guiltier at the second for lying. I can tell him the truth later but playing with Chaos' thoughts was amusing.
"I thought Kogen was the deeper type. How is their relationship now?"
I stared at the little creatures swimming around our feet and swung my legs to give them a little scare. "My mother became upset with Pai because he prioritized his hair more than her so she ran off with a bald male..."
The raft began to tremble not from the potentially lethal creatures beneath us but from the laughing Chaos who found the whole event humorous.
"I- I'm sorry! I should suppose to be sympathizing but that is so funny!" he cackled out loud.
I waved my hand in dismissal and snickered. "Gets people all the time."
After his good laugh, I began asking about him. "Why Chaos and Rupture?"
Chaos seemed to be in discomfort about discussing the reason for their names but he went on anyway.
"Our planet compared to other planets is a bit chaotic and strange."
"Is it in a state of war when you were born?" I asked.
Chaos waved his hands in disapproval. "No it isn't. Actually, it will seem like it is to outsiders but in all honesty, we are just used to the rough housing. Punching someone at the face is a morning greeting and the person you'll punch will receive it with a laugh. He'll return it with a kick and they'll end up beating each other up and getting other people involved in it the process. There will be no bitter feelings after and they'll even expect you to do the same thing tomorrow at the same time."
"That's my kind of planet!" I laughed. "I can imagine that it was hard for you to cope up when you visited other planets."
Chaos became silent for a bit and seconds later he began to chortle. As he tried to tell me the tale of his first encounter with people from other planets, I encouraged him to laugh it all out first because I couldn't understand anything he was saying from the scattered chortles.
"The first person to greet us in our first planet was Kogen. Rupture and I punched him at the same time and we got in trouble for that. We honestly didn't know why he locked us up. We even asked him 'Is it because you wanted to be kicked rather than punched? Or is it because we didn't punch hard enough?' he took more offense at that and started nagging at us about our behavior!" he laughed out.
By this time both of us were causing the raft to tremble because of intense laughter. A huge creature peeked out from the water to see what the ruckus was all about and brought out its long mouth to emit a high-pitch sound which tried to mimic our laughter.
"So you're used to rough housing are you?" I asked.
Chaos wiped a tear from his eye and nodded. "I kind of missed it."
I stood up from the raft and grinned at him. "Want to spar?"
Amusement sparked in Chaos's eyes and he wrapped his huge hand around my ankle. "Can you take my blows? I wouldn't want to hurt a pretty face like yours."
I placed my hand on my hip and scoffed. "I'll return your blow thrice as hard. My face is the least of your worries."
Do me a favor boy and entertain this bored God.
