44: COCO LOCO
I came here bearing no knowledge of what family truly was.
I arrived here having the very intention of bringing the legs of Tom-Ak-Ta back to planet Aecha with the goal of saving our world.
However...
There was an unexpected twist of events due to the stormage of emotions, injustice brought about by the strong, and the seemingly selfish intention of a creator that cost billions of lives comparable to the sands of the shore.
More tasks were added to my plate. I met new people, I befriended a unique set of individuals living secretly behind the naive and bustling lifestyle of humans. I grew attached to them even in a short period of time.
Now I have no intentions of simply finishing what I came for.
Now I intend to finish everything for my world and for this world.
I will bring back not only Tom-Ak-Ta but also my newly acquired definition of family.
After obtaining King Asahi's cooperation with the power of Lucian-ssu's conversational skills, we had a grand feast in the castle. They let those who lived outside to eat with the King and the Prince and at that moment I realized something that struck me in my ticker.
These people composing of different races gave their trust to the King and to the Prince. They allowed them to rule this land and to lead them into a peaceful way of living. These people loved and adored Lucian-ssu and Lusceviel-ssu and gave their utmost reverence for them.
And we were going to take them away.
Who will lead them if Lucian-ssu and Lusceviel-ssu leave? Will they even allow them to abscond? We successfully planned an escape for our small group but what about these people? Who will they lean on once their leaders depart? Our plan was to take Samael and Lucifer with us in order to temporarily save Earth from judgment day but because we were going to take them, we also have to take everyone who was close to them. We were going to bring with us the whole package without even considering the people who will be affected once they were gone.
The children in the Land of Eli specifically adored the King and I feel like I was robbing them of their second father. The innocent smiles just from being petted by him rubbed guilt into my ticker.
"Aecha, you have to try this! It tastes so great!" Hyuk Min cheered and brought me a bowl of ice cream with colorful scoops. I stared at the ice cream with a heavy burden in my heart and Hyuk Min must have noticed my uneasiness.
"What's wrong?" Hyuk Min asked. "Do you want some octopus instead? Mister Samael caught a giant octopus with bladed tentacles, I'm curious of how it'll taste."
Stugox walked towards us holding a bigger bowl of ice cream with a lot more scoops inside of it. Our leader began to pile up the scoops inside of his mouth in a fast pace while I composed myself of what to say.
"I am concerned..." I murmured. "What will happen to these people if Lucian-ssu leaves?"
I did not want them to loathe him or see him as someone who was selfish because Lucian-ssu was far from that. I admire him very much because despite his vulnerable appearance, he was unbending on the inside. He always knew what he wanted and he will do anything to obtain it. People naturally follow him.
I felt an arm encircle my neck and saw Buck-ssu smiling widely at us. "These people will grow to understand the reason if big brother Lucian leaves," he assured and patted my chest. "Just...beleaf."
With that statement and as if it was already an automatic response to whatever Buck-ssu was saying, Rui-ssu came out of nowhere and landed his fist behind Buck-ssu's head.
"You never fail to bring shame to our Kingdom," Rui-ssu grumbled. He looked at Stugox who still kept on stocking spoonfuls of ice cream into his mouth and narrowed his gaze at him. "Don't eat too fast or it'll freeze your—"
Before Rui-ssu could finish his precaution, Stugox froze and his eyes stared at a distance. Hyuk Min waved his hand in front of our leader's face and then shrugged.
"Stugox, are you still there?" Hyuk Min asked but no response was earned.
"Meh, he'll get over it. I get brain freeze all the time," Buck-ssu assured.
"Yeah, that's why you get dumber every day," Rui-ssu retorted. He looked at me next and jerked his head to the side. "Lucian-onii is looking for you. He says it is something important. He's at the castle's library."
"Is it that time of the month already? Why doesn't he ask for big brother Sevor or big brother Slade's assistance?" Buck-ssu asked making Rui-ssu hit his head with his fist for the second time this day.
"He's not in heat and why would he ask for Aecha if he was?" Rui-ssu questioned causing a rampage of confusion and anxiety inside of me.
Lusceviel-ssu will murder me in the most painful way possible if he was to even discover of the topic of our conversation. I learned to keep my distance from Lucian-ssu after that incident with Asahi-ssu.
Another thing that I was able to admire about Lucian-ssu was how he can handle people with the most immense presence with a calm expression. I must ask him to teach me a thing or two because handling Lusceviel-ssu and Samael-ssu in one room and with Asahi-ssu living inside of him all at the same time looked like he was handling the best students in an academy and not the rebellious ones.
Stugox, after being silent for a few minutes, began to eat again in the same pace as if nothing painful happened to him. The rest of Team Ske joined our group with their own bowls of ice cream and started to eat as fast as our leader and turned it into a game. They wanted to see who will recover much quicker from a brain freeze and the winner will get to eat more ice cream.
"AHHH!" Imsothy screamed and fell down on his knees while clutching his head. "The pain feels good! I can feel the pain Kaisen!"
"Eating ice cream consumes my energy..." Won murmured with his eyes sleepily squinted. He only had a few bites of ice cream before falling against Hoets' arm and turned to sleep to ignore the pain.
Joe acted tough and continued to eat despite being teary eyed. Ki gave up trying and went with Hyuk Min to get chocolate cake and Hoets started to hop in place in fear of gaining fat weight from eating too much sugar.
He had to save his sexiness from disappearing after all.
I left Team Ske with their game and Rui-ssu told me the directions to the library. On my way there, I found Coco-ssu walking ahead of me which reminded me of our plan.
Coco-ssu was given the responsibility to awaken the Gods sleeping in the Land of Eli. Knowing of his status, we already have one God on our side so that left us with five more Gods.
But I had a question bugging me this whole time.
What did he do that made the other Gods toss him out of this world?
"Hey, hey Aecha!" I heard Joe call me from behind. I abruptly turned to see him and he stopped beside me after a mild jog.
"Joe, where are you going?" I asked him.
Joe slipped an elastic headband which tucked his bangs up. "I'm coming with you. I want to personally see the rest of this incredible castle."
I gave him a smile and took this opportunity to tell him about what was bothering me. "Joe, do you think we're doing the right thing? I mean, we're going to take their King and Prince away," I asked him. I didn't even elaborate what I was referring to and Joe already understood.
"I'm not the best person to ask about that since I'm not the one ruling this place but just look at Bish-ssu as an example. When he died, he was replaced by Gilmos-ssu," he stated.
Joe had a point but Lucian-ssu was a great and selfless leader.
Not that I was saying that Bish-ssu was selfish and inconsiderate oh not at all!
Joe and I walked together in the brightly lit hallway. I already lost sight of Coco-ssu because we started to discuss about my worries.
Technically speaking, if Lucian-ssu was to step down, Lusceviel-ssu will take his place as King. But since we were going to take the both of them, who will take the place as King?
"Those who lead us, no matter how we get used to them, we'll someday step down and hand their authority to others. I think Lucian-ssu did a pretty good job with this place with how much the people here love him and if they leave, it might be unacceptable to some but if they stay they are as good as dead. Lucian-ssu and Luscev-ssu did their part. I heard they ruled the Land of Eli for four-hundred years and homeboy, that ain't such a short reign. Even Bish-ssu will grow tired."
He had a point. If I was a citizen of Eli, I will let the King and Prince go if I know that their safety was on the line.
Talking to Joe lifted the burden on my ticker and I began to grow confidence again with our plan. I just hope that things will go smoothly.
Joe and I finally stood in front of the double-doors leading to the library. Upon entering, there was not a single book inside and instead of having the usual silence the sound of glass, bells and metals clanged because of the gentle breeze twirling inside making the wind chimes dance.
There were endless rows of chimes separated by crumbling marble walls. The chimes were connected to the high-rise ceiling of actual clouds. The floor was covered with dried leaves and trees that were probably older than Gilmos-ssu grew everywhere.
I do not understand. I thought this was the library?
Instead of finding Lucian-ssu, we found Coco-ssu facing away from us. Where was the King?
"I don't think I can do it..." Coco-ssu suddenly spoke as he faced us. I noticed his hands trembling and immediate concern landed upon me.
Being given the responsibility to wake up the Gods who tossed him away must be very thorny for him. I would like to solve what was troubling him but where do I start when I know nothing of him?
Joe jumped behind me and then peeked at Coco above my shoulder. "I sense danger. We should get out of here."
That was not a very sensible thing to do as a Paragon plus I had to make sure that Lucian-ssu was safe and that Coco-ssu was mentally and emotionallu stable.
"No Joe, remember your duty as a Paragon. We always help those in need even if the one needing us is a God," I reminded him not really knowing the actual duties of being a Paragon because I did not even finish the courses of the academy.
Joe turned me to him and started to shake me in panic. I just noticed the images engraved into the door.
"Look at the food chain that I drew on this door!" he yelled at me.
When did he draw that? Joe can do amazing things whenever danger was near and I didn't expect him to do art.
There was a bowl of ice cream at the left followed by an arrow pointing at Joe's face and then there was another arrow following Joe's face which pointed at me and then another one which pointed at Coco-ssu. The final arrow following Coco-ssu's face pointed at the ice-cream.
I scratched the back of my head in confusion. "I...don't understand Joe."
"It's the weakest to the strongest. See here I eat the ice cream..." Joe started and I nodded in encouragement for him to continue. "And then since you're stronger than me you will eat me."
I placed my hand over to where my ticker was in shock. "Joe, I shall never do such a thing!"
Joe threw his hands up in frustration and shushed me in a furious manner. "And then Coco-ssu eats you!" He concluded.
I don't think Coco-ssu will like how I'll taste so I do not think Joe's food chain was realistic.
"What's the arrow after Coco-ssu? What's his relation to the ice cream?" I asked. Joe pulled me close and shakily whispered to my ear.
"Coco-ssu makes the ice cream and he makes them good..." he ended with continuous nods of certainty and warning.
I never thought I would say this and to Joe out of all people but...
"Joe...I heard cocaine is on the rage on Earth. Perhaps Team Ske passed by a seller before going here?" that was the only logical explanation for Joe's behavior but then again whenever he was rattled his thinking was jumbled.
"We only took a—AAAAH!" my teammate screamed at my face with his eyes looking past me before shoving me to the side and falling onto his bum. Coco-ssu's katana twirled towards the door and successfully turned it into splinters.
I took out my brother's sword from my crate and rose up from my place.
"Joe, tell someone to call Thomas-ssu," I instructed.
"Sho-should I also call 911 cause I heard they attend to all human emergency?" he asked me through panicked breaths.
"Good idea!" I praised but then suddenly realized something. "Wait we aren't humans!"
"What?!" Joe inquired.
"911 doesn't attend to alien needs and handling a God is beyond their job description!" I explained to him in the most polite way possible.
I watched Coco-ssu's movements to determine if I will engage him in a fight or not but I prefer to just chat peacefully than to fight with a God in all honesty. Coco-ssu was clenching his other katana very tightly in his left hand while his right hand was holding his wrist as if he was pushing it down.
"Coco-ssu, let's talk about this. I don't want to fight you!" I tried to convince.
Joe brought out his missile launcher and stood beside me readying to launch anytime. "On your cue," he told me.
Coco-ssu groaned and his right hand pulled back causing his left hand to jerk forward. "Dodge as if your life depended on it," I instructed Joe who then gave me a "HUH?!"
"He's unwilling to fight us but he is a God made to do so!" I explained.
Joe made a face of understanding. "Ohh~..." he replied. Our heads whipped to Coco-ssu who suddenly tensed up and vanished from air with one sway of his body. "Still...HE'S GONNA KILL US ALL!!!" Joe screamed at the top of his lungs.
By instinct, I moved my sword in front of me to welcome Coco-ssu's greeting with his katana. My senses were overwhelmed with how fast his movements were and each clang of our blades could have taken my life if not for the close call of my own fortune.
Coco-ssu swished his sword towards my neck making me stumble back to avoid a painful head loss. I moved my body to flip away from him and Joe started to shoot tranquilizer bullets to Thomas's husband.
It didn't seem to be effective though.
My hand shot up to my neck and felt something wet from the source of the stinging pain that I only started to notice now. I gazed at my hand and found blue fluids covering a part of it.
I was fighting a God.
He was the God of Death, God of Battle, God of Darkness, and God of Destruction.
And it was amazing that I was able to still survive in these few seconds passing and that was not because of my experience but because despite how strong and skillful he was, I can still observe some hesitancy in his movements.
I didn't move a muscle when Coco-ssu halted in his movements. His whole body intensely quivered because of the power circulating in his body.
His power had a purpose.
He was born as a God with specificity.
And here he was fighting his own purpose. He was resisting against his own power because he didn't want to hurt any of us.
He released a pent up growl and threw his katana at the side out of his sheer resolve however; his body moved in coordance with a wind-like speed and his hand was then forced to grasp my neck tightly.
"Do I shoot now? Do I shoot now?!" Joe asked me.
"N-no—" I wheezed out briefly appreciating Joe's understanding self.
"Re-resist me! Don't let m-me do this..." Coco-ssu rasped.
I remembered him as someone who didn't let himself fight in much battles and only let Thomas-ssu handle most issues. But the reason must be because he was stopping himself from becoming the unstoppable being that he very well knew he was.
I forced a nod out of my position and raised my feet against his chest before kicking him off of me. Joe took that as a cue to release a missile towards Coco who then, out of all his skills, tipped the missile with the flick of his fingers upwards making Joe gasp in astonishment.
Coco-ssu breathed noisily and forced himself on his knees. The sound of the missile exploding resounded and the wave of gaseous blaze created a hole in the clouds and caused some chimes to break off from their strings. Coco-ssu successfully held the wrist of his rebellious left hand and out of desperation— broke his own wrist making him release a breath of relief.
Thomas-ssu finally arrived with a panicking expression and knelt beside Coco-ssu who then surrendered himself wholly. Both Joe and I relaxed our shoulders but kept our weapons with us in case of...another incidence.
I looked around to see if Lucian-ssu was anywhere in sight but found no blonde-haired man.
Don't tell me that Coco-ssu...
I ran around the whole area library pushing past some long chimes blocking my vision. Cold sweat started to form on my skin and the thought of seeing Lucian-ssu's hurt body and Luscev-ssu's pained cry made me search in a teary state.
I came back empty-handed to where Joe, Thomas and Coco were with heavy breaths of ticker-felt fear.
"I did it again Thomas..." he whispered in defeat. "I did it again..." he whimpered.
Thomas-ssu took Coco-ssu into his embrace and took a sharp inhale of breath. "And I will say it again, you did not mean any of it..." he comforted.
"Luci-Lucian-ssu where are you?!" I called out in desperation and just as if he was merely waiting for me to scream his name out of extreme worry, he entered the library unhurt and tilted his head in question at the scenario before him. He bowed in apology for being late.
"Domo, my apologies for being late, I got distracted by a butterfly and thought to catch it for Fenris. What did I miss?"
