28: Real
It was a strange feeling.
Even as I crawled out of the purified waters and onto the flushed soft and sparkling sand of the shore, I had no idea of what I just survived from, how I survived it and how I even managed to get here with a wounded leg.
I was overwhelmed by the sensation of numbness and was experiencing a desertion of all thoughts and questions which led me into an apathetic stance. It was like I was living emptily while I stared at the endless depth of ceiling covering the abandoned city of Zhekson while listening to the waves of the naturally revived ocean which almost became the chamber of my corpse.
At that point my cognizance and senses were gradually returning to me and a realization combined with a question came along with a single wave of the ocean.
I was alive, but how?
"Aecha!" Gilmos' voice sounded which hauled my awareness back to the world.
I turned to my stomach and saw how green moss and plant roots were leisurely conquering the rot that once ruled the abandoned city. Animalias which were foreign to my eyes roamed above and below and I did not know how to properly thank the core of "Earth" for aiding me with his superb power.
But his ability was just...I was left in astonishment and excitement and every possible positive emotion I can have at this point. This core knew something and he had something in which we need to learn about. I did not have any idea of how he was able to communicate with me but I have a feeling that the medallion that Hesein had given me had something to do with it.
Seeing how he can turn an occurrence like this which troubled our planet for so many years just proved how vital it was for me to find where this "Earth" was. His power was definitely related to my eomma there was no doubt about that. He must also know about the legs of Tom-Ak-Ta.
Gilmos slid across the sand with his knees and exactly knelt beside me while he tried to sit me up.
"Are you alright? What happened?" he asked me with a worried gaze. "And how exactly did you manage to do this?" he asked me again referring to the sudden growth of life everywhere.
"I am alright. I have discovered that Saek and the others have released this dimension into our world using a technology I found in the factory of annihilators. Someone had murdered the major cronie and made a drone similar to it," I explained. "And as for the purification of the land, well, that's another story in which I have not yet completely understood."
Gilmos clucked his tongue and assisted me up on my feet. "You can never trust anyone now but we can sure make use of that 'other' story of yours. We have to move. Can you walk?" he asked.
I nodded at Gilmos' with a grateful smile and used his smaller stature as a replacement to the functionality of my leg. "Where will we go now Gilmos-ssu?" I questioned. This place was a frame-up and we need to find out where the next invasion will be.
"I don't know we'll have to think of something. I have to check things with Iomarbus, I heard something happened there," he replied.
My ticker let out a squeak of fright when Gilmos pushed my body away and used his hand as a shield to against the incoming arrow. The arrow pierced through his hand causing him to grimace. My eyes immediately dart to the source of the arrow and I was starting to believe that I was imagining things.
"Whoever you are, get away from Aecha!" Gilmos(?) snarled. He had a slight limp on his movement with a look of distress on his face. He also seemed a bit pale.
There were two Gilmos?
The first Gilmos who came to the shore glared back at his look alike. "I don't know what you're saying when you're the one obviously having my identity. I will make sure that you will have a horrible life in space."
The second Gilmos looked at me with a strong gaze and it was putting me in a state of stress and bewilderment. Both of them sounded and acted like Gilmos Dekmuth.
"Get away from him Aecha, he's a fraud. I am the real Gilmos Dekmuth!" he claimed before grimacing and holding his head as if he was in pain.
"Don't believe him Aecha; he's going to kill you if you come with him. We have a mission remember? We can't afford to waste time," the first Gilmos reminded me with a firm tone.
He yanked the arrow off his hand and threw it at the side. The arrow dispersed in black ashes and returned back to the second Gilmos. He then darted his attention back to the second Gilmos and brought out his twin handguns and aimed at him. The second Gilmos did the same. Both men had the same exact guns.
This was going to be very difficult.
Anxiety rose within me. This was harder than dealing with the lobster. I did not want to have the real Gilmos get hurt and both of them seemed very pleasant. Can they not just share the same identity so we can have our merry way while saving the world together? I did not mind having to follow two Gilmos since Gilmos was very admirable and he deserved to have many more copies of him in order to be able to manage the world in a very "Gilmos-way".
"You annoy me," the second Gilmos snapped. "You have no right to copy me and act as you are me. There can only be one Gilmos Dekmuth and I won't have some pretender do my job."
"That goes the same for me. I will be taking back my face from you," the first Gilmos retorted. "Miscreant."
At that title, the second Gilmos growled in vexation and took the first chance to shoot. The first Gilmos dropped to his side and shot as well but the second Gilmos released a red translucent barrier which protected him from the bullets.
"Cheater, you are a coward! I will never use a barrier!" the first Gilmos snarled.
"Moron, you are an imbecile! I use brains not brawn! If you're going to copy me, use your brain because I always use mine!" the second Gilmos slammed back.
I have never heard so much insults in one day that I was feeling guilty for even hearing them. Forgive me Kaisen.
The second Gilmos sent his weapons back into his crate and then pounced over the first Gilmos pinning him down to the sand. The two of them rolled over each other while trying to give each other multiple punches. I have no idea who was the first Gilmos and who was the second Gilmos now.
"Please, both of you are very much respected! Do not fight!" I begged.
"Silence Aecha!" the two Gilmos yelled at me in unison.
Gilmos had never mentioned of a twin brother.
"I will never initiate a fist fight!" one of them snarled while giving the other a blow. When the other Gilmos was finally given the chance to strike, he gave the other a murderous glare while aggressively giving him angry blows to the face.
"Well new fact to copy while you're still alive huh?"
Oh dear...
Oh wait...
"Gilmos-ssu, the real one, what is our code?" I asked. Gilmos-ssu developed a code for us to use whenever we were in doubt of each other's identity.
The one who topped on the roll shoved the other Gilmos on the ground using his hand and then looked at me.
"Gods do not sleep, they simply grow," he answered correctly which brought relief to my troubled condition. He rose from his position and smirked down on his clone.
"Who's the fake one now?"
"I never use codes," the Gilmos who was lying down glared at him weakly.
The real Gilmos let out a chuckle of victory. "Well new fact to copy while you're still alive huh?" he retorted cockily using the same words that the other Gilmos used on him...or was it his words? I was very confused.
My ticker sped up when the real Gilmos aimed his gun at him. I scrambled my way towards the real Gilmos and shoved him away.
"What are you doing Aecha?!" the real Gilmos snapped at me.
"I apologize Gilmos-ssu but we must not hurt him. He may have vital information that we need," I reasoned out.
The real Gilmos glowered at me and I looked at the phony Gilmos. "I apologize bogus Gilmos-ssu but do you have any valuable information about Necron?"
The phony Gilmos groaned in exhaustion. "Aecha...let me tell you one thing..." he murmured with irritation in his voice. He was clearly offended by my term bogus. "Wait for me to become a member of the necronies and I'll tell you everything I know but for now....I'm pretty busy being a president of the damn Paragons and being your babysitter!" he snarled at me.
I was taken aback by the realness of his acting skills and clapped my hands. "You did so well in copying the real Gilmos-ssu. I applaud you for your efforts."
I feel like I was talking to the real Gilmos and not the fake one.
"That's enough stupidity for one day Aecha. Move so that I can finish him off. This bogus is too weak to even copy the original," the real Gilmos scoffed.
"Heh..." the bogus Gilmos mocked. His head was lagging back and forth as if he was in a daze. "That's because a bug bit me last night. I wonder where it came from?"
A bug?
"Hey real me, what happened to your hand? At least even if I'm a bogus I can still heal in the most normal Aechean way. What do you think Aecha?"
My eyes went to see the hand of the real Gilmos where the arrow pierced through and I noticed that there was still the presence of a hole and an accompanying rot in it which placed me in alarm.
"Gilmos-ssu, your hand!" I exclaimed. He staggered back and looked at his hand in which the bogus pointed out.
The real Gilmos growled in annoyance and aimed his gun at the bogus again. I lowered myself down and shielded the bogus with my body. Doubt was already climbing over my trust to this real Gilmos Dekmuth.
"There is rot on your hand, please explain," I requested.
"There's nothing to explain. Move Aecha, I will finish that pretender!" he yelled.
"You are the fake one," I told him causing him to scoff.
"We agreed on a code and I was the one who was able to answer it not the phony behind you. I'm not going to repeat myself again Aecha."
I let my sword materialize in my hand and I gave him a warning gaze. "Please walk away and stop pretending as Gilmos-ssu. Even if I am not a Paragon yet, Gilmos-ssu shall give me the power to arrest you..." I warned him. I then suddenly doubted my words because I have not yet consulted Gilmos-ssu about that.
"Right Gilmos-ssu?" I asked him.
"Yeah, do what you want..." Gilmos wheezed out.
"You're seriously siding with him now Aecha? You really are an idiot aren't you?" he asked me in disbelief. I maintained an eye contact with the new fake Gilmos-ssu and my ticker sped up when he aimed his gun at me. "You're picking the wrong side. I'm the real one and if you don't remove yourself from where you stay, I will eliminate you with that criminal."
He aimed his gun at me.
I smiled at his statement and at his actions and rose on my feet. This just proved how fake he really was. "There is only one thing that Gilmos-ssu will never do..." I stated.
"Codes? No need. The day I point my gun at you is the day that I'm not Gilmos."
"Miscreant," I whispered with a hidden anger in my ticker.
I swung my blade upwards, smacking the gun out of his hand and then whipping my blade back causing a sound of metal slicing the air. I continued to give the fake Gilmos gashes on his face and some damages on his suit but the man minimally avoided the attacks as he just stood coolly and unthreatened.
Non-agitated opponents just meant that they were hiding something lethal...
The fake Gilmos caught my elbow and then kicked the back of my knee before giving my nape a strike using the hardened side of his hand.
Necron really should have waited for me to at least have more combat experiences before planning to invade our planet...
Before I hit the ground, I felt the toe part of his foot pressing against my stomach before he thrust me up in midair without much effort and then painfully spearing me down on the sand with my back on the ground with a rusted blade through my stomach.
"Augh!" I blurted out.
"You bore me..." the fake Gilmos yawned. "Obviously, Gilmos hasn't taught you enough.
"Don't hurt him any further!" the real Gilmos forced out. "You don't know what you're doing!"
I released deep and heavy pants as I gazed at the rusted sword sticking down through me. The sword emitted a dark flaming aura accompanied by the scent of decay. It was weakening me...
This was severely...agonizing.
My head fell back on the sand and I screamed out loud when the fake Gilmos suddenly yanked the sword out of me.
"Seven!" the real Gilmos growled angrily. "I said stop it! Stop it!"
My eyes widened when I heard the latter hum in response. "So you figured it out?" Seven replied. "Too bad it's too late. You're both going to die here," he declared. "How does it feel to be drained out of your powers Gilmos? I'm sure it is depressing to feel helpless."
"W-why are you doing this?" I asked him. "Please tell us why!" I pleaded.
Seven shrugged and then pressed his foot against my wounded abdomen causing me to yelp from the tingling pain. He lifted the rusted sword above my head with the summit of the sword directed to me.
"I want the world to be devoid of life...Necron is my God and both of us desire to be alone," he simply explained while his lips started to slowly spread out in a smile. "Like him, I will be the harbinger of death to all!" he declared.
I watched in fear as the sword descended in a fast acceleration.
How did death feel like?
I did not want to experience it.
I did not want to understand it.
I did not want to see anyone experiencing it.
But how can someone desire death on someone else?
Tom-Ak-Ta and Seven were never the same. Tom-Ak-Ta did not want to be alone. Tom-Ak-Ta wanted to be with my eomma and the reason why he kept coming back was because he wanted to feel my eomma's presence even if the only response that he kept getting was the hatred that my eomma passed down on his children.
"Seven!" Gilmos roared.
Ascian cubes started to fall down on my face followed by the stinging of my eyes.
It was painful...
Death was painful...
Especially if you see it on the people you adore.
"Gilmos...ssu?"
