22: Fake

I have never really taken the consequences of my actions into consideration. I know that I have annoyed Gilmos-ssu to an extent of frustration but in times of dire need to help other people I rather charge forward than to lean backward just to try to think of future events that could kill me.

Would there be anyone else who would express such intense displeasure towards my way of living other than Gilmos? I have no idea. I shall see in future time but I have a gut feeling that the person who would beat Gilmos in the worrying game would get more physical in handling me. I need to prepare many health kits.

But at this moment of extreme phenomenon an Aechean with such exceptional achievements managed to pull me out of hopeless plight. Bish-ssu had helped me see the light in things. He had guided me into the rightful path of a sensible life.

He had led me to a wise and reality striking question of: "Why in the world did I charge here alone without thinking this through and not letting Hoets or Stugox know of my whereabouts?"

I can contact them now and tell them how I got myself into this position but that would just place another heavy burden on their broad and masculine shoulders. Those two really had nice arms and shoulders. They must have let too many people rely on them. Oh what macho men they were!

I watched Bish's transformation with much anxiety building up in my ticker. I did not know what to expect. He attached something on his nape that made him transform into a cronie. I have dealt with cronies who were transformed that way unwillingly but cronies who willingly transformed themselves into one? I did not know what behavior they will possess.

Bish-ssu's skin began to darken into a complete black and moist color with visible and thick purple veins rising from his skin. His jaw elongated with sharp teeth visibly showing without any lips concealing them. His shoulders lengthened and became bulky with irregular bumps and the hair on his head shredded off. His eyes were almost completely overruled by a black color with crimson and huge pupils forming in the middle. His hands and fingers became bony and claw-like and his legs lengthened and thinned out with his feet and toes becoming equally bony and stretched out. His arms were much heavier than the rest of his torso so his posture was crooked. He stood at a height of fifteen feet.

I have always figured that Bish-ssu was somewhat annoyed by my presence and I have never apologized to him 'til this day about it but...

"Bish-ssu...Is it too late now to say sorry?" I asked him.

The fully transformed ex-president stared down at me. His wide sharp-toothed mouth opened to let out a sharp scream of rejection.

People may have associated with Bish-ssu just because of his rich status but I have never seen him that way and never will I associate myself with anyone just for materialistic purposes.

"Because I need more than just your money!" I confessed.

Bish-ssu must be thinking that he had lost everything because of Gilmos-ssu taking his place but that wasn't true! I was here for him and if he would just sit and talk to Gilmos in a civilized way, Gilmos may give him a position that was rightful for him.

Bish-ssu leaped from his spot and I looked up just to see him soaring down with closed fist towards the spot I was standing on.

I leaped back just in time for him to land his clenched claw-like hand on the floor which evidently caused a newly formed cavity which later on crumbled into nothing but air and a passage towards the next floor.

That could have given me an insurmountable damage if that floor was me. This was the first time wherein a cronie really attempted to end my life. Usually they always wanted to take a bite of me.

Bish-ssu raised his fist and then leaped forward to attack me again only for me to dodge him just in time. If there was indeed a device on his neck that was making him this way, I have to remove it and have Seven examine that. My eyes scanned Bish-ssu inch by inch and I even had his proportions and strength measured. Indeed, my theory was true when I saw a bug-like object biting beneath the flesh under his nape. If I can remove that, there was a great chance of returning Bish into his original form and the city of Fracos back into its state of richness.

I equipped my twin blades and lurched forward. Bish-ssu swayed his claw towards me causing me to leap up and land on his extended arm. I used his own limb as a bridge to get to his nape but before I can get there, he used his other arm to swat me away from him in which he was successful in doing so.

I used my muscles to the best of their abilities to flip myself over through mid-air to regain my stability on the floor. My feet slid across the ground sliding the remaining impact passed down to me with complete knowledge that Bish-ssu was already chasing me with incredible speed. Once my body came into a stop Bish-ssu was already there in front of me. I used one of my blades as a shield for his incoming claw from above and use the other one for the claw that was boldly speeding up beside me. Our body shook especially mine from the strength that we were putting against each other.

I slowly —with much difficulty and effort— moved the claw that was beside me and placed it together with the claw above me. Gilmos' tutoring came rushing back inside of my mind and I extended my other leg behind me. I should not let Gilmos' effort to tutor me go in vain.

With both of his arms above me I used the opportunity to set them aside to create an open spot for attacking. I hastily yet accurately slashed his vulnerable thin belly with both of my blades going on opposite directions before jumping back to avoid his arms which swung to get me.

"I am very sorry Bish-ssu! It is nothing personal. You are still the best employer out there!"

I cannot kill Bish-ssu for the reason that his soul might possess me and because the price of killing him was the inability of returning Fracos back into its state. It was my first time fighting a cronie outside its dimension and I have killed none of them resulting to the recovery of the contaminated areas. It was either I get that bug underneath his nape or I let him bite me. But what if the bug prevented him from returning despite him biting me?

Fear struck me not because of Bish-ssu's current condition but because of this very notification popping inside my system.

"Gilmos Dekmuth is calling..."

Oh Kaisen. Why was he calling me at this current time?

"Bish-ssu please be still for a moment. Gilmos-ssu is calling," I requested. I fell to my side when I lost my footing during my avoidance of another attack. I rolled away from Bish-ssu and sighed in relief when Gilmos stopped calling.

But then he sent a message...

From Gilmos Dekmuth:

Pick up the phone or else I'll pick on you.

Gilmos once again called and I have never picked up a call on someone so fast. I continued rolling for my survival while I talk to the new president of the Paragons.

"Aecha, where are you?" he asked me. He wasn't panicking which meant that he still had no idea that I have left with Team Ske to venture into Fracos.

I was more nervous in dealing with an angry Gilmos than an angry Bish. I cleared my throat but still ended up answering with a raspy voice.

"Oh, Gilmos-ssu, I thought you'll never ask. I am at the safest place in the entire world thanks to the patronage of Seven. But enough about me, what are you doing? Is everything going well?" I asked him like I was not being preyed by a cronie which happened to be the ex president of the Paragons.

When I rolled on the last inches between me and a wall, I instantly rose up to avoid getting squashed by the one and only Bish-ssu. The sound of the impact of his fist against the now non-existent wall alarmed Gilmos at the other line.

"What was that?" he asked me. His calm tone immediately switched into an alarmed one.

I laughed sheepishly. "O-oh! Ki and Hyuk Min were chasing each other off in our room and Ki suddenly hit the wall with his foot," I lied.

Bish-ssu emitted a loud and piercing growl which did not help the situation I was in.

"Aecha!"

"Th-that was Ki's scream of agony I swear!" I helplessly explained. "I have to go now! We still have to train in Seven's Laboratory so that we can get as good as you guys! Take care Gilmos and please rest every once in awhile!" I bid him and ended our conversation.

I will definitely get an earful when all of this was over.

A withered banner made of cloth hanged loosely above us and once Bish-ssu was near enough in an attempt to trample me, I jumped up and grabbed the hanging banner. I looked down and found a confused and lost Bish-ssu. He must have been wondering where I went to.

"Psssst..." Imsothy messaged me. "Tell me what to do. Do I have bomb that thing into pieces? Nice ass by the way. You look good hanging around like that."

I looked around for Imsothy —very much impressed that he was able to track me down— and found him hiding behind a collapsed part of a ceiling. He waved at me and I waved at him back.

"Thank you for your complement. I will try to hang on a dangerous place like this to please you," I acknowledged him. "I am trying to get to his nape but he is proving it difficult to do so. If we can only pin him down with his nape exposed then that would be very beneficial for all of us."

"That's easy, leave it to me. I'll set a trap and you distract him far away from where I'm working. Once I'm done, you will lead him to my trap and the trap will restrain him."

I agreed with Imsothy's plan and dropped down behind the confused Bish-ssu and kicked his head with both of my feet in the process on my way down. I elicited a growl from him and he twirled around to chase me. Imsothy came out of his hiding spot and did his work on a part of the floor. I headed towards a room with no door and with the entrance being too short for Bish-ssu's height. Bish-ssu's upper torso crashed against the upper part of the entrance and he fell back with a piercing shriek.

"Please watch your head!" I warned him which was already too late. I gazed at the open window and had a great idea of hiding outside. Once Bish-ssu got back on his feet, I watched him through my scanner as he maneuvered the room where he last saw me. He seemed to be very angered that he lost me.

I waited for a few more minutes and avoided looking down. Just watching the height from where I stand and the little space that was keeping me from falling was tickling the surface of my feet. Bish-ssu passed the window where I was hiding and when I was sure that he was far enough, I slowly came inside in a quiet manner and sneaked my way outside making sure that I was looking back every now and then to see if he had spotted me. The tables were much of use with my stealth.

I came back to where we were originally and saw Imsothy doing his last touches with his trap. He turned around and gave me a thumb of approval. "I'm done, just stand here and call him when you're ready," he instructed.

"That was fast," I complemented.

Imsothy grinned. "I like traps and bombs."

Imsothy returned to his hiding spot and I stood to where he pointed at. I took a deep breath and then called for Bish-ssu with a loud voice.

"I'm here!"

Moments later, I heard loud and heavy treads coming from the room. I saw a big panel which was elevated in front of me. I was assuming that Bish-ssu had to step on this one to get 'trapped.' But my biggest worry would be the fact that he might just jump pass this one to get me.

And he did jump.

"Stay put," Imsothy instructed. "Stay..."

Once Bish-ssu's claw was an inch near my face, Imsothy threw a card blade above and I looked up to see a hanging rock above which then fell over Bish-ssu's body. He landed over the panel which released thin strands of sturdy lit electrical restraint and I immediately rolled the heavy rock off his body.

Bish-ssu was really strong-willed. He was still awake despite getting himself squashed by a rock. He was an admirable aechean.

Imsothy stood beside me while we shortly watched a struggling Bish. I reached down to his nape and brought out a dagger from my crate to work quickly on retrieving the device that transformed him. Imsothy lied beside Bish-ssu as he gazed at Bish-ssu's face.

"That's one terrifyingly ugly cronie," Imsothy commented. "I'm seriously getting nightmares now. Damn it's hideous."

I concentrated on retrieving the device but still managed to reply to Imsothy to defend Bish-ssu. "Please do not say such things. You will hurt Bish-ssu's feelings."

Imsothy's usually confused face became even more bewildered. He continued to observe Bish-ssu before saying: "I'm sorry Bish-ssu. Don't worry, you still look the same even before only now you're even more...toxic."

Bish-ssu growled at him and Imsothy scooted a little more far away from him. I managed to dig through the flesh and gently started to slice the portion where the device was biting on.

"Imsothy, I do not think Bish-ssu appreciates your comments," I said.

"Bish-ssu does have the looks but it's not popular to the society yet," he replied.

I stopped myself from laughing at his statement and maintained a focused face. When I finally got the flesh with the device, Bish-ssu still did not return into his original form. I knelt in front of him and offered my arm. Maybe a bite of me will transform him back as well as the whole city of Fracos.

With no limbs to use to destroy me, Bish-ssu took the opportunity offered to him and bit my arm. Only then did he finally start to return back to his form with the usual white smoke as a manifestation. When he was finally back, Bish-ssu possessed a smirking face which was suspicious to me.

"Yep, nothing changed," Imsothy deadpanned.

"Are you alright Bish-ssu? I am sorry that it had to end this way," I spoke.

"Did you think that you have finally beaten me?" he questioned. "Think again."

The ground beneath us started to tremble and an arm from an annie burst out from the floor followed by more upper limbs. Imsothy and I were jolted from our positions by shock and we could feel the building beginning to collapse to the side.

Imsothy pulled me to the center transporter. We heard Bish-ssu laughing hysterically and saw an annie successfully raising its upper body from the hole it made. Its head moved from left to right and focused on the tied up Bish-ssu. I anchored my feet on the ground and Imsothy realized that his pulling wasn't affecting me so he went to the other side to push me.

"I do not think that the annies will kill us. There's still the presence of a necron activity," I reasoned out.

"Yeah, remembered when you almost lost your arms? I still remember it like it was yesterday!" Imsothy rebutted.

"Kill them! Kill them!" Bish-ssu laughed. His joy was  cut off when the annie grabbed him instead. "What are you doing? You're programmed to kill Scion!" he snarled in shock.

Imsothy pushed me to the center transporter and held me in place. A frightening chill embraced me when the last thing I heard from Bish-ssu was: "You betrayed me!" and his pained scream which was cut short when he was bent in half.

The death of Bish-ssu numbed me off my senses but sensitized my ticker with pain. I was already there but I couldn't save him. Why didn't I? Why did I hesitate? Why did I merely stand there looking like a fool?

The city of Fracos remained the same even when Bish-ssu bit me. Guilt wrapped around my mind over this unproductive day where I lost someone who already became a part of my life.

What did I do wrong?

Imsothy had taken me inside another building to temporarily hide and rest. He tried to talk to me and even hit my face lightly with his palm but I stayed unresponsive.

That was until the leader of the Necronies who I was starting to believe was Bish-ssu but apparently was not sent me a message.

"He isn't the major cronie. The major cronie was already killed. The city will rot for a very long time."
