14: Invasion in the Sky

"Scion, what are you going to do?" Hyuk Min asked me.

We were all on our feet and gazing at the door — which was currently being abused by the Paragons— with horrified faces.

"Are you going to submit to insubordination?" Stugox asked me still staring at our door.

This was a decision pressed by time. I can predict what will happen if I come with the Paragons. I may not be jailed for my crime being Identity Fraud but the real Scion will be endangered if I get caught and get found out of being the real Aecha.

"Insubordination," I answered and quickly went straight to my cabinet to grab my expandable suit, weapon crate and the charm seed that eomma blessed me with.

"And we are now going to be a part of a cool and new history!" Joe cheered and started hitting Stugox's arm with light punches.

"So are we heroes or criminals?" Hoets asked with an excited grin. "I think Hoets the Criminal is hot."

"We're vigilantes," Hyuk Min replied with a dramatic whispery tone accompanied by the opening of closed fists which swiped apart that represented the imaginary highlight of the word.

"And liars, traitors, and an accessory of a crime," Ki added.

Hyuk Min laughed. "Oh don't be silly. Scion, don't believe him. He's just being dramatic."

Ki groaned. "I'm just orienting you guys about the future possibilities that aren't impossible to happen. It's called being realistic."

"No, it's called being pessimistic. Like what I always say, think of your honor and not being a...what rhymes with honor?"

"Goner," Joe answered.

"That's right!" Hyuk Min approved.

"I'm just-"

"Nah ah ah. Glory before?"

"Dory," Imsothy filled in.

"That's right!" Hyuk Min approved once more.

Ki looked between Imsothy and Hyuk Min with disbelief. "Who's Dory?"

Hyuk Min and Ki helped me get ready and the banging against the metallic door became even more ruthless. Hoets approached the metal —which was the only partition keeping me from being immediately taken against my will — to reply.

"Please wait we are processing your order... tut-tut-tut-tut," Hoets acted out.

"We are giving him 5 minutes or else we are all going to file insubordination against all of you!" The Paragons replied.

"That's not very nice...." Won sleepily grumbled. He came behind Hoets and pushed him away so that he can talk to the Paragons. He groggily leaned against the door and...

"OI, WHAT DO YOU MEAN INSUBORDINATION YOU ABOMINATIONS?!"

Hyuk Min successful attached my weapon crate and Ki noticed that I was holding something in my left hand.

"What's that?" He asked.

I opened my palm to present him the seed from Ecgtheow. Ki went to his own cabinet and brought me a small blue vial shaped like an inverted rain drop. It had a metallic ring hoop attached to it.

Ki quickly took the seed from me and pushed the seed against the solid vial. The seed merged with the wall and fell inside.

" Thank you," I stated after wearing the ring.

"Your 5 minutes is done! We're breaking down this door!" The Paragon shouted.

"Get away from the door," Stugox ordered them. Hoets was pulling Won back but the lanky man stayed anchored in place.

"NO ONE IS GOING TO BREAK THIS DOOR WHILE I'M STILL HERE!" Won screamed back.

Stugox asked me if I was already set and done.

"Yes, please take care of yourselves," I told them.

Stugox's stern face broke down into a smile. "Don't you worry about us; Team Ske has been through a lot and this is nothing," he replied. "Joe, since you're still in your suit, you escort Scion to wherever he will head off to," he ordered.

I was ready to deny of any assistance but Joe already accepted the responsibility given to him and pushed me to the window. "Let's go homeboy, where to?"

I quickly sent Gilmos a message while jumping out of the window to know where I should go and Gilmos quickly replied with: "Get to the ships."

"The ships," I told Joe who nodded. "Okay...first off, disconnect your communication software, they'll track you down. Let's go."

Joe and I crouched behind the bushes and an alarm quickly sounded throughout the campus.

"TO ALL STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES: AN IMPORTANT ASSET TO THE SAFETY OF PLANET AECHA IS PLANNING TO ESCAPE. YOU ARE ALL GIVEN AN IMPORTANT TASK TO CAPTURE SCION GHAZI AND BRING HIM TO PRESIDENT BISH IMMEDIATELY. THE SAKE OF PLANET AECHA IS IN YOUR HANDS."

"Tsk, they are really out to get you..." Joe whispered.

Various moving lights were opened and there was an outburst of students from various levels pouring out of their dormitories before scattering throughout the campus.

I followed Joe who stopped in place. He looked at the moving light that shone over a part of the wall which didn't have a bush to hide in. Joe pointed at the bush that was 10 meters away from where we were but on the same line of wall. Once the light moved away from the bush we were hiding in, Joe and I stealthily made our way to the next bush.

"The ship area is just past these dormitories. It will be easy."

"I like your enthusiasm Joe," I murmured.

We peeked out of the bush and found a group of advance beginners fooling around while hitting each other.

"Let's wait for them to go..." Joe whispered to me.

They were ten of these advanced beginners. They all make an impression of being immature despite the maturing environment that the Paragons promote compared to the rookies.

The group of advance beginners stayed in place and they did not seem to want to participate in the hunt for me.

"Damn it, I was having a nice dream already," one of them groaned.

"Why do we have to search for him anyway? It's not like he's a criminal. He'll come back if he wants to. Give the guy a break already," another one of them pointed out.

I take it all back. Not all advanced beginners were immature. Some of them were just blessed by Kaisen with an insane amount of compassion and wisdom that I cannot fathom.

I felt Joe slapping my arm repeatedly with his face in panicked mode. He was pointing on something on his shoulder and I saw that there was a very white beetle bug with traces of black on some of its parts that highlight the partitions of its body.

"It won't bite you..." I assured Joe who was in the brink of screaming out our location if I did not do something about it.

This was the man who did not have any fear when it came to dealing with murderous robots.

I flicked the bug with my finger and unbeknownst to me, it was an insect that lets out a tiny, sharp yet loud scream when hurt. The sound that the bug let out caused Joe and I to freeze in position and to our biggest fear, the bug caught the group's attention.

"What's that?" one of them asked.

"It came from the bush."

"Someone's there, two of them," another one voiced out. "Hey, come out of there!" he ordered. All of them brought out their weapons and Joe prepared his tranquilizer gun.

"I'll deal with them...You run for it okay?" Joe told me.

A sense of gratefulness washed over me. I cannot count the number of times that they have saved me from grave danger but I was willing to take note of them so that I can repay their heroism.

The advanced beginners continued to walk towards our hiding spot in a cautious and slow manner.

"We are giving you 3 seconds to come out or else we will attack," one of them declared.

"3..."

Joe loaded up his tranquilizer gun but did not aim yet. We were really going up against the Paragons. No one from Ecgtheow's children strayed in this path before because they didn't have a choice.

"2..."

And if Laechea's voice was heard, he would still be here.

"1!"

Joe, the advanced beginners and I were slightly startled by the voice of Hunse who was approaching the said group. Joe and I lowered our stature even more since Hunse was facing our direction while reprimanding his fellow classmen.

"Hey! If you airheads are going to live up to the title of being complete clods then it would be better to just become dropouts!" Hunse snapped.

"Hunse!" the one doing the countdown greeted. They all seem to be intimidated by the frowning man. "Someone is in the bush. We were just-"

"Being stupid, I know. Do something useful and search near Dorm 7. No one is patrolling there. I'm the one they assigned here," he told them.

The group didn't bother searching our part of the bush and did what they were told to do. Once they were far enough, Hunse sighed.

"Scion, if that's you, it's safe to go."

My ears couldn't believe what I was hearing from Hunse. I have always thought that he was shy when interacting with me. What bravery he was showing!

"Thank you Hunse..." I murmured.

"Yeah, it won't happen again."

But what would have happen if we were other students and not Scion and Joe? Hunse will have no other choice but to knock us out to oblivion because he was just that type.

Joe and I made it to the third building which was facing the vast expanse of land before the ships. There were students and Paragons everywhere and there were no hiding spots in sight.

"I will have to make a run for it," I told him.

Worry crept up on Joe's face. "You're going alone?"

I nodded at him. "Yes, I must. I cannot bring you with me. You have to go back to Team Ske and you must keep a low profile. If needed, you can dirty up my name to keep you safe. Nothing else will ease my mind knowing that Team Ske is away from harm."

Joe's eyebrows furrowed and his lips pursed a bit showing his dimples. We embraced each other and he gave my back firm pats.

"You take care of yourself homeboy and promise us that you will find another way to stop this. We don't want you to end up like Laechea."

I tightened my embrace around Joe and nodded. I have this fear in the back of my mind that everyone will turn against me if I oppose the Paragons but Team Ske, Gilmos, Xiu and even Hunse were giving me their full support.

We parted from our embrace and I faced my target. I could see Trux beside a ship and my guess was that Gilmos sent him there to pick me up.

"Please hug the others for me. I shall see you soon."

Joe saluted at me and I positioned my trunk forward first before finally pushing the ground with my feet. The winds that I carried with my fast pace alerted the ones patrolling about my presence. I saw Trux grin and the ship beside him started to rise up.

I made an abrupt stop in front of the man wearing that wide-rim white hat and he winked at me. "A+ for stealth skills now get in," he told me. I climbed the open panel and saw Dryp in the pilot seat.

"Trux what are you doing?!" an instructor asked.

"Trying to change history," Trux replied as he got in beside Dryp. The Paragons started to shoot and I sat on the passenger chair that was attached to the wall of the ship and buckled up.

The ship fully disembarked and both Dryp and Trux howled in excitement. "It's been awhile since we defied President Bish!" Dryp laughed.

"It's nice to annoy him every once and awhile!" Trux chuckled and peeked at me. "You okay there? Be sure to hold on something tight because we are going to be chased by Paragons."

I nodded at him nervously yet smiled gratefully at his advice." Yes, thank you for your concern. Please drive safely," I stuttered.

Both Trux and Dryp chortled at my last statement.

"He said drive safely! Ha ha, Aecha can be such a comedian," Dryp laughed.

I kept my eyes at the front windows. There were a bunch of flying creatures in front of us and Dryp and Trux controlled the ship to twirl multiple times while howling in much delight and thrill.

I have never thought that they can be this...law breaking.

"How many behind?" Trux asked.

"Five of them," Dryp replied.

Bullet shots hit behind our ship and Trux spoke in the microphone. "Hey! Don't you dare hit a fellow Paragon— that's rotten!"

"Rotten as President Bish's breath!" Dryp added on Trux's statement and the both of them let out an "Oooooh!" while looking at each other.

I believe they were both in their 30's.

The chase continued with Trux and Dryp making this ship twist and turn to avoid harming the creatures in their way. The Paragons behind us were also as tough because they were able to keep up.

"SURRENDER SCION GHAZI AND YOUR PUNISHMENTS SHALL BE LESSENED."

"On who's order?!" Dryp asked with much humor in his voice. I was amazed at how talented Dryp can control this ship despite the bangs covering half of his face.

"THIS IS AN ORDER BY PRESIDENT BISH HUALALA!"

The two men laughed hysterically and began to playfully add President Bish's last name in a funny melody on the microphone.

"Shalalalala-" Dryp sweetly sang.

"HUALALALA!" Trux gave completion in a hard and gruff melody.

I turned the laugh that escaped from my throat into a cough before taking in my lips inside my mouth. I did not want to find this funny because it was rude to make fun of one's name but these two were making it hard for me.

The laughed abruptly died down and a portal out of nowhere stole the grins from our faces. A huge claw —much bigger than what I encountered below— reached out and grabbed a floating octopoda (octopus) with a length of 25 feet before withdrawing back and closing the portal where it came from. This was my second time seeing this but those claws were really frightening.

"Flipping Con trees..." Trux lowly cussed. "Sorry Saek."

I removed the belt and then leaned against the chairs where Trux and Dryp were sitting on.

"Once the octopoda goes out please chase after it and get me inside the portal that it will make," I requested.

"That's suicide, on your own?" Trux asked.

"Yes, I can handle the cronie by myself," I replied while eyeing the front window. I did not even think that I need to kill it.

"Trux and Dryp, what should we do?" the Paragons behind us fearfully asked making Trux and Dryp scoff.

"Unbelievable..." Dryp mockingly laughed. "Wait, what are we supposed to do?"

Trux eyed me. "You sure about this?"

I gave him a nod of reassurance. "Yes."

"Okay, just make sure Gilmos doesn't make genitals a thing for this."

"I always wanted one you know?" Dryp admitted.

Dryp and Trux told the Paragons behind us of the plan and they all agreed seeing that they were at lost of what to do. As predicted, the cronie emerged once more but in a rotting form and started turning the other animalias into other cronies which began to attack our ships. Our main goal was to catch the master cronie which was the one designated by Necron to invade the sky.

"Only freeze them. I repeat,  only freeze them!" Trux instructed through the microphone. The octopad was much like the infected ursidae that had the ability to vanish in one place once it had infected the desired animalias and then reappearing in a spot farther away from where it once was.

The ship we were on let out ice which froze the incoming seahorses and fishes soaring towards us. We gaited on the octopad and Dryp pressed a button in their panel which shot a tracking bug on the octopad once it reappeared again.

Our ship became shaky as if something landed on top of us which was confirmed by the Paragons behind us.

"There's a charcarodon carcharias (killer shark) on top of your ship."

I gazed up and harsh movements above us caused grating sounds as well as imbalance on our ship. A sudden crushing sound followed by a piercing of metal occurred above and indeed, there was a decaying charcarodon gnawing the ship's roof as it slipped its arm inside and started to claw me out.

I gazed at the tracking screen of the ship and discovered that the master cronie was beginning to appear somewhere near us. It ws either below our ship or above us.

"There! I see one of its tentacles below," Dryp announced.

"Please take care of yourselves," I bid them and pressed the button for the panel of the ship to open. Trux immediately reacted from my statement but could not do nothing about my decision.

I shall do anything in my power to prevent them from having genitals.

"Aecha, Don't do anything-"

Once the panel was fully opened I ran and slid off the slope of pavement successfully getting off from the ship. I landed on the octopad's head and felt my body become cold and just restless because I couldn't hold on to it because of its slippery goo.

I slipped off from the octopad's head and saw the opportunity to grab one of its long tentacles which was also slippery.

"Oh no..." I breathlessly whispered once my hands slipped off from the tentacle. Winds engulfed me in their helpless and hopeless attempt to rescue me and I saw no way out of this inevitable fall.

The octopad successfully turned another animalia and then its tentacles curved up separately revealing a round mouth with sharp teeth at the center of the roots of tentacles just at the base of the head. It released an inky black substance which covered my whole vision and entire being.

For once I was thankful that I did not taste with my skin anymore or else that would be unpleasant.

"Tom-Ak-Ta look, I made a new creature. I'll name it Aishah."
