They say there is light after every darkness, one only has to wait for the right time for it.

And the light that came to the darkness overpowering the wizarding world due to Lord Voldemort was in the form of a prophecy.

A prophecy was made by Sybil Trelawney, a descendent of the famous Seer Cassandra, that a boy with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born soon and he will be marked as an equal by Lord Voldemort himself. And neither could live while the other survived.

However, that prophecy wasn't known to many people as Dumbledore intended to protect it so that Voldemort would not find out about it. But fate had other plans.

The Dark Lord learned about the prophecy and began his hunt for the Chosen One instead, a boy yet to be born to parents who had defied him thrice.

Only two couples fitted the description of the prophecy. The first couple were Aurors Frank and Alice Longbottom. And the second couple was none other than Sirius' best friends James and Lily Potter.

They were both asked to go into hiding but as they were active members of the Order, both of them declined the offer.

As time passed, things were getting worse for the Order with the Dark Forces gathering more and more power. The Ministry of Magic had nearly been infiltrated and those who were on the Order's side or against the Death Eaters were facing a hard time.

Death and destruction gripped the Wizarding World as Lord Voldemort gained more power and terrorized the wizard folk into accepting him as the greatest Dark wizard of all time.

The Order of the Phoenix was doing its best to stand up to the cruel regimen controlled by Voldemort but they were losing members one by one and the Order too was falling weak. The only hope they had was to protect the Chosen One who could be born to either Frank and Alice Longbottom or James and Lily Potter.

Regulus and Eleanor had also joined the Order though Ellie was still recovering but Reg tried his best to do all he could to keep her and the others safe. He had proved himself as an asset for the Order too as he was even better at dueling than his own brother Sirius and together the Black brothers were an unstoppable duo who did all they could to fight against the Dark Forces.

But it all took a turn for the worst when the Death Eaters found out the location of the Order's headquarters and struck in an unexpected attack.

Some of the members had been sent into protection but the attack had been very unexpected and the Order couldn't prepare for it beforehand. The Marauders, Regulus, Frank Longbottom, and other top-tier Aurors were battling against the Death Eaters while Esmeralda Troy and Emmeline Vance were getting the women and children to safety.

Esme knew her sister would be most in danger so she looked for Eleanor but to her horror, she couldn't find her anywhere. She searched the best she could and at last, she found Eleanor, dueling Dolohov.

"Ellie!" Esmeralda breathed, trying to think fast in order to help her sister. She aimed a curse at Dolohov who blocked it but a jet of red light came toward her as well, striking her with tremendous force.

"Esme, no!" Eleanor rushed to her sister but was pulled back by the Death Eater.

Dolohov was one of Voldemort's most trusted followers and if he had taken hold of Eleanor, that meant he would take her to Voldemort himself.

But at that crucial moment, Remus Lupin came to her help and distracted Dolohov so that Eleanor and Esmeralda could get to safety. Ellie had just managed to take Esmeralda back when her blood started to freeze in her veins as if sensing the ominous presence of the wizard who she had failed to kill over and over again.

"It's been long since I saw you, Eleanor," that haunting whisper sounded with a crack and she saw that he had snapped her wand in half, serpentine red eyes looking down at her threateningly.

She wanted to escape but couldn't as it felt something had rooted her to the spot. Whether it was some Dark magic or her own fear that made unable for her to move, she couldn't run away from Lord Voldemort who was towering in front of her.

His hand closed onto her arm, pulling her up to her feet and she was trembling in fear and anger as she tried to free herself from his grip.

"Look around you, all this horror that your friends are being subjected to is because of you," he sneered, his thin lips curling into a menacing smile, "if you come with me, I will let them all go. If not, I will kill every single one of them right in front of your helpless eyes."

"Let me go..." She tried to yank her arm away from him but a splitting pain erupted in her body as she sank to the floor, the torture curse gripping her in an unbreakable hold.

However, Regulus saw her at Voldemort's mercy and immediately came to rescue her. He knew he was no match for the Dark Wizard so his attack had to be stealthy but strong enough for Voldemort not to be able to recover from it easily.

So while Voldemort was distracted by torturing Eleanor and hearing her scream in pain, he conjured up the firestorm curse and aimed it directly at Voldemort.

The blazing orange flames hit the Dark wizard who stumbled, the Cruciatus curse breaking its intensity as Eleanor fell to the ground. But Voldemort knew exactly who could conjure such a strong firestorm curse as he had seen Regulus use it earlier as well.

His serpentine eyes locked with Reg's bright blue and a surge of jealousy licked up his insides just like the flames from the firestorm curse were burning him up externally.

Regulus knew he had very little time and he tried to help Eleanor up and disapparate before Voldemort could do anything to them. But the Dark Lord was much stronger than he anticipated and the curse he had set on him dissolved much sooner than he hoped.

Voldemort's yew wand was pointed directly at Regulus as he uttered the killing curse, deciding that he couldn't let the traitor live any longer.

"Avada Kedavra!"

Those terrifying words sounded and a jet of green light came whizzing towards Regulus. He braced himself to be hit by the killing curse, almost seeing death flash in front of him but still he wanted to protect Eleanor by taking the curse himself and shielding her from it.

But just as the jet of light was about to strike him, that curse was blocked as a blue shield engulfed him. Regulus was thrown back close to Eleanor and she gripped his hand in hers. He straightened and saw that Sirius had created a shield charm to protect him, placing himself in between the killing curse and his younger brother.

"Take Ellie and get out of here," he spoke, struggling to maintain the shield, "I won't be able to hold him back much longer. Go, Reg!"

Regulus stumbled but did as he was told; he picked Eleanor up, supporting her weak figure but he was also very worried for his brother. He knew the instant the shield would break, the curse would hit Sirius instead.

But then if he didn't take Eleanor and escape, she would be captured by the Death Eaters again and would have to suffer the horrible torture that had almost driven her to insanity. Regulus couldn't bear to let that happen too.

He had promised he would keep Eleanor safe and so he had to make a difficult decision. With one last glance at Sirius who was still struggling to hold up the shield, he took Eleanor and disapparated.

The second he disapparated, the shield charm broke and the jet of green light struck Sirius right in his heart.

Stormy eyes widened as the soul left his body and he fell to the ground in a lifeless heap. He had given up his life to protect his brother and that act of his had rendered Regulus an ancient magical protection from the Dark Lord.

Lord Voldemort would not be able to kill Regulus Black on his own again. But that night, the Marauders as well as the Order lost a very significant member in the form of Sirius Orion Black.
