"This doesn't look like a city of gold." The echoing of a voice pulled June March from her restless sleep, the girl immediately jumping up from her uncomfortable  spot. She stood completely, waiting for another voice just to make sure she wasn't going crazy, her body shaking as she hoped it wasn't Singh. Footsteps sounded and she moved closer to them, any bit of relief from the pain of her arm vanishing from her body, a grimace on the girls lips as she tried to hold her breath to hear.

"It's a big cave. Let's split up, look around. There's gotta be a passage or something." Easily recognizable voice. It was Big John.  She scrambled towards the voices, feeling overtly relieved that they were there.

"Sarah?" June walked out of a part of the cave, everyone turning around to look at her. Relief flooded  John B when he realized June was okay, considering they had lost her in the forest the night before. Sarah hurried over to the girl, June letting out a surprised gasp as the odds put them right where she was.  "Oh my god, I thought I lost you guys."

"How did you find us?" John B asked as he stood back, Sarah pulling June into a hug. Bullets had flown crazily the night before and June had disappeared, Sarah had no idea if she was dead or alive. The Cameron girl swallowed the excessive worry as she pulled back from June, her hand grasping her cheek for just a second before she turned her body towards John B.

"How did you find me?! I've been here since last night. Guys I think this—this cave is..." June started, but they both already knew what she was going to say. John B was amazed that she had managed to find this place, his head turning towards the innards of the cave. He shown his flashlight towards the wall and then squinted his eyes, looking at June with a questioning look.

"You didn't happen to see a passage in here did you?" June shook her head, her heart flipping in her chest as she realized her assumption had been correct. She opened her mouth to speak and Sarah watched her as she did it, detaching from Junes side and starting towards John B.

"No I...no. It was pitch black in here last night. Plus I didn't really know what I was supposed to be looking  for." The March girl said, her lips turned down into a frown as she gestured towards a pool of water. Sarah stepped to the edge of the water as John B pulled up to Junes side, ruffling some hair on her head as a symbol of his relief that she was okay. She swatted his hand away with her good arm, John B biting back a mention of Crains house and the bullet incident there.

"What are the chances you end up in the cave that might be the entrance to El Dorado?" John B said, narrowing his eyes at her and sneaking the tiniest of grins on his face. She shrugged and then immediately regretted it, pushing hair behind her ear as she clenched her jaw to try and not make a painful noise.

"Guys, I think this goes deeper." Both June and John B made their way towards where Sarah was standing, John B humming in confusion as they stopped and he pointed his flashlight at the water. "You see the fish? Well they have to come from somewhere."

"You are so smart I could kiss you." June said as John B started to take his backpack off, Sarah looking back at her with a smile.

"I think you should definitely do that." John B said as he put his bag down, both June and Sarah rolling their eyes. June looked at Sarah again and raised an eyebrows, the Cameron girl actually managing a chuckle at the insinuation. June fought off a disappointed look as John B started into the water, glancing back at them and also being disappointed they weren't kissing. "Only one way to find out if that theory is true."

He walked into the water, his flashlight being an essential part of trying to find out where the fish were coming from.

"They look like they're coming from over here. Hey, what is that?"

"Wait, what do you see?" Sarah asked, shining her light towards where he was as June watched in anticipation. The Routledge boy crouched in the water and June leaned closer, trying to see what he was looking at.

"Dad! Hey, Dad! Come check this out! Sarah found something." Big John appeared out of nowhere, grunting as he walked towards them. He hadn't seen June when they had found her, his eyebrows raising slightly as he walked to the waters edge.

"I'm coming." June watched as he limped towards them and her eyes dropped over his body, lingering on his hand pressed against his stomach. There was blood on his hand and she momentarily lost focus on what John B was saying, her face falling when she ran her eyes over the red again. Surely it wasn't as bad as she was assuming, there was no way he could walk around like that and nobody notice.

"Wait, what's that above it?" Junes eyes flew from Big John to the opening that John B was standing in front of, her eyes locking into the thing he was talking about. "It's a...it's a hand."

The symbolism of the hand being home clearly meant they were going the correct direction, Junes mouth dropping open in shock as she realized they were actually in the right place. Not only that, but they were so close to actually getting the gold, finally getting the money that she could almost taste it. It was amazing to be on the edge of success. Moments away from finally winning.

"Help me with these rocks." John B said, June being the first one to start into the water. She couldn't help as much as she wished she could, only being able to lift so much because her arm was so weak. However she used her other hand to move as many rocks as possible, Sarah helping them too.

"If someone went to this much trouble, it's got to be the way." Big John said as they moved the last rock, John B looking up at the three of them with a ready look.

"Looks like we're good. You guys ready?"

"Yeah." June and Sarah both said at the same time, Junes head turning to Big John.

"Let's do it."

"I'll never fit through that wormhole. You guys go." John B immediately looked upset at his fathers words, June feeling a lump in her throat almost instantly.

"What are you talking about? Dad, we finally found what we think is El Dorado, and you're just gonna sit this one out?" John B had a valid point, June staring at the stone wall behind him as they started this whole discussion.

"Gotta take the training wheels off sometime, kid. It's time. I'm hold down the fort out here but before you go, listen. There was one last part of the message that I didn't tell you." June looked at the man now, John B shaking his head at his dad.

"Always keeping secrets huh Pop? Shocker."

"I'm sorry. I'm telling you now. The last part, 'The true and patient seeker needs not light to see'. You got it?" June recited the words back to herself , nodding at Big John as he looked between the three of them. "The true and patient seeker needs not light to see. That's it."

"Okay." John B said, looking at the two girls and nodding.

"I've got these three flares. They're waterproof. I doubt those flashlights will survive the swim. They're 20 minutes each. And you don't want to get stuck down there without them. You'll never find your way out . All right? Go. Go." Big John chuckled slightly, using his hand to push Jen towards the others. "I'm passing the baton over to you kids. You got this boy. I'll be okay. I'll see you when you get back." John B smiled at Sarah and June started towards the hole, preparing for a swim.

"Thank you Sarah." Big John said, smiling at the girl. He looked to June and gave her a silent nod, the girl blinking twice and dropping her eyes to his hand that was still pressed to his stomach and then back up to his face, giving him a nod back.

"You sure you're good?"

"I promise. Now go! Find that city of gold, boy!" Big John said, smiling widely at his son. John B smiled and nodded, looking at his dad with excitement in his eyes.

"We're going. Ready?" John B asked, looking at the two girls who were standing side by side. Sarah answered with a yeah and June nodded, feeling ready as she would ever be. At this point there was no point in not finishing this conquest, considering they were standing right in front of the entrance. John B and Sarah counted down and then the three of them dropped underwater, starting the swim into the hole.

John B and Sarah's flashlights lit the way, June following the light as her eyes burned from swimming with them open. She tried not to focus on the breath in her lungs, instead pushing her body as fast as she could after them. She must have been a much slower swimmer than them, the improper usage of her arm resulting in some slower swimming, because for a few moments their light faded away, and June was left in the cold dark water alone.

It only took about five milliseconds for the panic and fear to grip her heart, June lifting her hand over her head and feeling stone above her. There was no air. The darkness seemed to swallow her and she kept pushing forwards, the temperature dropping and putting her right back where she had been a few months ago. When she looked up she could see the sun, the blue water instead of the green she was in, she could see the bottom of the boat and she was fighting with everything in her to not sink. June saw the opening and she swam up, her head breaking the surface and her breaths coming out heavy as she gasped for air. She let out a muffled cry and then looked around, John B and Sarah wading right by where she came up.

"Are you okay? Are you good?" John B asked in genuine worry, wondering what had taken her longer than them. She quickly nodded and they all started towards an opening in the cavern, June swimming surprisingly fast now that she had adrenaline pumping through her. They got into the rocks and June stayed on her stomach with the other two, John B shining his flashlight through the cave. They continued on and then were able to stand, the three of them walking through the cave.

"Looks like there's an opening down there." John B said, pointing his flashlight towards an opening. June was trying to catch her breath, John Bs flashlight flickering as he pointed it.

"Okay."

"And there goes my flashlight." The light flickered off and Junes heart jumped, her shoulder tensing as she realized they only had Sarah's left.

"Well at least we have mine." Just as Sarah finished saying it the light buzzed out, June letting out a groan as her eyes tried desperately to adjust to the dark. "Never mind.

"You jinxed it. That's your own fault." June said into the darkness, John B already trying to swoop in to calm the girl.

"Okay. Flares. Yep."

"Flares." Sarah reiterated, June hearing the shuffling of John Bs backpack. He struggled for a moment lighting the flares, June crossing her arms over her chest and sighing.

"Any day now." Just as she finished the flare lit, her head turning to John B who was glaring at her.

"You're the biggest complainer I've ever met. And that's saying something considering Pope is my best friend." June shrugged, once again regretting it and then looking to Sarah with a grimace. The cavern walls were illuminated with an eerie red form the flare, June internally asking if this could get any creepier. They looked around and June was struck with a thought, her eyebrows furrowing and her lips pursing as she voiced it.

"Do you think there's like...booby traps?" Both John B and Sarah looked at June when she said it, wanting to see if she was seriously asking that. She looked at the two of them and saw the wya they were looking at her, the girl immediately jumping to her own defense. "What? I watched Indiana Jones as a kid. Treasure hunting equals booby traps. Duh."

"No. Something tells me there's not many booby traps." John B said, shaking his head and looking back out at the cavern. "Twenty minute per flare."

"Three flares."

"Sixty minutes." John B said, looking at Sarah.

"Thirty minutes in."

"Thirty minutes out. Ready? Let's go." John B started walking and June took up the rear of the group, her face scrunching up as she started to speak again.

"That's cute that little thing you guys do where you finish each others sentences. Do you rehearse that first or does it just come naturally?" John B didn't even spare her a glance as he spoke, shaking his head as he noted how much she was sounding like JJ the past few minutes.

"Shut up." Then he remembered what she had said on the hammock the day before, and he no longer wanted to compare her to JJ. Not everything works out. "Follow me."
