sixty-five.

June was laid in the floor of the boat, a tarp over her body as she grimaced and writhed in pain. Singh had appeared at the market, forcing them to all get in the boat and quite the crowd they were. Ward Cameron sat right by June, and it was his hand that pulled the tarp off of her body. Once they were out of sight it was brought to everyone immediate attention that June was in unbearable pain, and she would likely bleed out if they didn't try and do anything about it.

"June! Shit!" John B said, stumbling across the boat as she just laid there. He pulled her up, the girl crying out in pain as he moved her arm. He pulled her sleeve up as Sarah joined, unable to see the wound due to the position of it under the shirt. She had tears streaming down her face and Sarah grabbed John Bs shaky hands, pulling his attention to her.

"I got this okay? You all turn around." John B nodded and Big John, Ward, and John B all turned. Sarah pulled Junes shirt up, leaving her in her bra as she cried. She was in some sort of strange state of consciousness, driven by pain but not comprehension. It took a few minutes for Sarah to realize there was an exit wound, and it took her another few minutes to tear apart a piece of Junes shirt to try and bandage it up. The river guide Jose had been essential in passing Sarah a bottle of liquor, not reassuring her that he was the best river guide for a few different reasons. He seemed pretty unfazed by this. June screamed out as Sarah poured the alcohol in her wound, Junes hand squeezing John Bs as he grimaced in pain from hearing her suffer. Finally Sarah got her tied up, replacing what was left of her shirt back over her body, her stomach now showing and then helping her to move again.

"It's fine...I didn't even like this shirt anyways." June said through heavy breaths and grimaces, John B turning around at the sound of her attempting to laugh.

"What the hell are you doing here June?" John B asked, Junes eyes going to Big John for a moment before groaned and sat up a little more.

"Back in Barbados Singh told me my dad had this medallion that was the key to El Dorado. He told me that I had to find it and give it to him. I never did. And Ty—Tyler drugged me and gave me to him. And he tried to cover it up." She gave the synopsis, not wanting to beat around the bush. Sarah and John B shared a look at the mention of Tyler, feeling a pang of betrayal in their own hearts at the fact that he had done that to her. John B had never liked him, but he had thought he was at least genuine at this point, after the island. Clearly he was wrong.

"JJ knew you didn't just leave." The mention of the Maybank boy made her sick again and she couldn't even fathom seeing him. She figured he was probably here as well, the thought of seeing him reminding her of what the last thing she had said to her was.

"How did he know?"

"Rafe." Wards head turned at the mention of his son and Junes face scrunched up, unsure of what he could possibly mean by that. JJ and Rafe had interacted?

"What do you mea-"

"We have a lot to talk about but uh...not here okay? Later." June was silenced by the fact that she knew there was at least two people they didn't trust in this boat. Or at least two people she didn't trust. Any progress that Big John had made with her had been extinguished when they decided to continue on with this treasure hunt, June couldn't shake the thought that something terrible was going to happen. It always did.

"Is JJ here?" She couldn't help the curiosity in her body, John B looking up at Sarah and the two of them sharing a look. June felt something deep in her stomach, the girl realizing now that they were going to attempt to hide something from her.

"He—well hopefully he is. I don't—"

"He didn't come with you guys?" June questioned, and the couple shared another look. She got an uncomfortable feeling now, easily discerning the fact that something was off now.

"Well he didn't—no he didn't come with us. He was...he had something else he had to do but he told me that they would get here and so yeah...yeah he's probably here." John B forgot how perceptive June was, her lip curling up as she caught what he didn't seem to realize he said.

"They?" She knew deep down exactly who they were, John Bs eyes widening as he realized she had caught him. He looked at Sarah again and she lightly shrugged, figuring there was no reason to try and hide it any longer. "What do you mean by that?"

"Kiaras parents shipped her off to a wilderness camp and JJ went to go bust her out. So yeah they is JJ and Kie and they should be here by now. Hopefully." June put on an unfazed expression but her mind traveled diligently back to when JJ had told her she was selfish and draining. He had told her that Kie said she loved him. She felt a stir in her chest that melted over her bones and enveloped her completely, but she managed to speak as if she wasn't bothered at all, John B waiting for the repercussions of her finding this out.  Everyone in the group was now well aware of the tension between the two over JJ, and also what Kie had done to June in Barbados. John B had told them all on the plane.

"Well I hope he got her." Was what she managed to  say, John B already seeing the underlying anger in her face. Technically they were broken up so it shouldn't matter to her, but everyone knew better then that. John B was rather disappointed in JJ himself, and he was hoping he hadn't done anything stupid while he was gone.

It was only about 20 minutes later that they approached a tiny river town, the guide pulling up the the dock. John B helped June out but she insisted she was fine, although she still had ma open wound, and her body was shaking with pain. Ward led the group toward wherever they were staying, June trying not to throw up everywhere and a jolt of pain shot through her body with every step. Her mind was betraying her and imagining every terrible scenario that could come from JJ saving Kie from a camp. He was emotional when conducting rescues, so she could almost put money on the fact that's own thing had happened between them.

June dropped down on a bench by herself, Sarah and Ward having a conversation right out of earshot. She felt out of place here, realizing she was not supposed to be here. She was the wild card in the group. Sarah sauntered off after John B and June as left where she was, given the option to follow or to just sit there. She decided to just sit there.

She would admit she was relieved that she was no longer in Singhs captivity, but it was out of one bad situation and into another. How long until Singh caught up and killed her anyways? How long until someone betrayed the group like Ward or Big John, who was already teetering on the edge of taking it all for himself. How long until—

"I got this from the a fisherman over there... figured you could use it." The voice that cut her off haunted her dreams regularly and when she looked up, it was Ward Cameron that was standing in front of her. In his hand was a sewing kit, June looking at it warily before taking it from his hand. She would have Sarah stitch her up later.

"Thanks." She said, and she expected him to walk away but instead he took a seat beside her, letting out a groan as he sat. She felt her heart drop when she realized he was looking at her, and it took everything in her to turn her head and look at him.

"You're resilient, I'll give you that."  Ward said first, June thinking it was almost hilarious that him of all people  would say that.

"Says you. You just don't die."

"Call it a survival instinct. We've both got it. Hell, seems like every one of you has it."  June didn't want to partake in this conversation, but for some reason she wanted to hear what he had to say so badly. So she waited for him to speak again. "My son...he's not all gone you know."

"I know." June said in a hushed tone, award not expecting her response to agree with him. She sucked in a breath and he shook his head, a strange smile covering his lips as he spoke again.

"He always did have some fascination with you...I mean even before I left for here he told me he couldn't find you. Rambling on and on about your grandpas shirt and Italy. He was right I guess, right that something had happened to you." June felt her heart drop at the mention of her grandpas shirt, of course Rafe would know she went missing. She took that shirt on every vacation. She would never leave it behind. She closed her eyes and let out a small chuckle when she realized he really did just know so much about her. "Listen June, I know what I did was wrong. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry to you. And I'm sorry on behalf of him. And I know this is asking a lot but could you promise me something?"

She thought it was insanity that he was asking her for a promise, but she also thought it was insanity that he was apologizing. It felt real, her face holding shock for a moment as she realized what he had said. Ward Cameron was sorry, and that would never be enough. But it didn't hurt to hear.

"What?"

"Promise me that you'll try and get him some help. You're the only one he listens to. Once I get my Sarah back home I'm done. I'm gonna leave it all alone and go back to Guadeloupe. So I need you to promise me..."

"I'll do my best." She was surprised she had said it, Ward nodding slightly, feeling a bout of relief that she had agreed. He had given Rafe the reins, he at least hoped she could help him control himself.  He dropped a hand on her knee, giving her a slight nod and then standing from beside her. He limped off, June gritting her teeth as she came to grips with what she had promised. If she made it home she would do it. If she made it home.

June thought about Rafe and helping him, about getting him the mental help he needed...she cared about him whether she wanted to admit it or not, and she cared about seeing him healthy again. Seeing him better. Maybe she didn't need to promise at all, maybe she would have helped him regardless. June pushed herself up, feeling bad for interrupting John B and Sarah, but knowing that she needed to be stitched up as soon as possible.

"Sorry to interrupt."
