Clarity was one of the most sought after structures in a human life. The ability to know what the future holds for you, to see it without obstacles or without uncertainty. Clarity was peace of mind. Clarity was an abundance of thoughts that all funneled into one easily perceived ideal. Clarity meant ease. Clarity meant comprehension and acceptance. Kiara Carrera did not have clarity. Her mind was a storm cloud and the could no longer see the sky. Her very gut instinct was actively betraying her mind and that instinct was telling her that she didn't need to value a friendship over fate. There was a tiny blip of clarity in her life and it bore the name JJ Maybank.

She wondered why it had taken her so long to realize he was everything that she wanted. He had an adventurous soul, a quick  problem solving mind. He could crack the funniest of jokes and he was always all in. He was loyal, and he was always quite sure  of who he was, good and bad. JJ had many perfections but mostly imperfections, his biggest one being his usually unwavering love for his girlfriend.

Where a friendship had come bubbled, a resentment brewed instead. When Kiara had learned the truth about what kind of person June was and had been, she did not think that June was the victim she made herself out to be at times. The longer the bright light shone on her the deeper the cracks appeared. June was a girl that every guy couldn't help but fall for, and  Kiara wondered if JJ had realized that yet. That his love for her had been artificial and fleeting and a default factory setting that every guy seemed to have, and that one day she could see JJ looking at her the way that he looked at June. With those big, thoughtful eyes that ached with I would do anything for you all over them. Kiara could no longer find it in herself to not judge. Because the longer they spent on this island, the closer she got to the truth about how she felt. June March had to go, and JJ belonged with her. It had always been that way, and she feared she had missed her chance. But if Kiara was anything, it was not a quitter. And every second she she spent on this island with that leech that had sucked the life out of their group, the more she realized just how much she never truly liked June March.

Kiaras back was pressed against the trunk of a tree, her legs pulled up as she lounged in comfort. Her thoughts had been running wild while she was watching JJ attempt to lift June above his head in a Dirty Dancing-esque style that everyone observing them knew wasn't going to work. JJ didn't have the physical coordination for it, but June was happy to try over and over again anyways, even though she had accepted the fact they would never hold a candle to Baby Houseman. A squeal of laughter emitted from Junes mouth and Kie leaned forwards, her arms wrapping around her knees and her eyes narrowing. It was like watching a movie you hated but could never turn off, and the worst part was the genuine happiness. And if it was any other girl Kie could believe it. But Rafe Cameron had likened her to himself, and it made her wonder...how well did they really know June March? Kie could name about 5 facts she knew about June, and she was sure if she asked around to the others that the only things they would know were the same ones she did. So where did the line from friend and stranger blur so heavily that they were stuck on a stranded island with someone who she couldn't even tell you what he favorite color was.

"Hello?! Earth to Kie? What the hell?" The voice rose above the sounds of her skeptics, her head turning to look at who was calling for her. John B. He gave her a confused look, the boy taking a seat across from her as a breeze blew across her face, her hair shifting in the wind.

"Hey sorry. I'm here." She said, and John B nodded. He looked around and caught sight of what she had been staring at, JJ and June laughing loudly as they tumbled into the sand again. Where Kie flooded with skepticism and jealousy, John B felt his heart warm, happy that JJ of all people could find someone good for him. "Tell me 5 things you know about June, John B."

The command took him off guard and he looked at Kie with furrowed eyebrows, considering why she would ask him to do something like that. And when he looked in her eyes he saw a glare and something way deeper inside them, an uneasy feeling settling in his stomach as he began to question her.

"Okay but why are you asking me to do this?" He watched as she mentally mulled over the consequences of speaking less then nicely about June, but figured her residency in the Pogues granted her some free will to speak.

"Because what do we really know about her? I mean other than all that cheating on JJ stuff, and all the obvious stuff...I have no clue who she is. I just don't know if I can get behind her being a Pogue anymore." The worlds dripped with duality, John B feeling his lips quirk up into a pursed mouth. His eyes shifted and then he sucked in a breath, looking out at June who was now apparently building a sandcastle with JJ.

"Junes favorite video game is Mario Kart. One time in 4th grade her brother called her July and for the rest of elementary school people called her that. She doesn't like potato chips but if they're kettle cooked she'll eat them. Her favorite movie is When Harry Met Sally. When she was 12 she met Selena Gomez and passed out. Her favorite color is purple." Kiara was taken aback by just how much he actually knew, her theory that nobody knew anything about her apparently being wrong. He looked back at her with a confused and almost judgmental face and he was quick to defend her. "And that 'cheating stuff' was actually a 17 year old taking advantage of a 14 year old girl. Who tried to kill her by the way. Actually, genuinely murder her with his bare hands. And the cheating wasn't on JJ, it was on Zach. Maybe you don't know anything about her because you're too damn busy trying to regulate who can and can't be a Pogue but in reality—a) you aren't the judge of that and b) she already is and has been. And will continue to be. So whatever your problem is, you should probably learn to get over it."

John B pushed himself up from the sand, an unimpressed and disappointed look on his face as he looked down at Kiara. For someone who was unity and friendship and all in, she really sucked at showing it. You couldn't be a Pogue without accepting all Pogues, even JJ knew that. JJ who had been harboring a resentment for Tyler until about a week ago, when he finally got over the fact that he was there. He was stuck there just as much as they were, and if JJ could accept Tyler, there was no reason at all why Kie couldn't accept June. John B stalked off, shaking his head and scratching the back of his neck as he made his point in his expression to show her how fucking irritating her animosity against June was getting. It had been almost a month on this island, and Kie had pulled the morale down considerably because of this awful obsession with hating June.

"Guys come eat!" A voiced yelled from the distance and Kiara lifted her head, watching as June and JJ raced each other to get to the fire. Her stomach growled and grumbled and she let out a defeated sigh, pushing herself up from the sand and starting towards the fire. On approach John B, handed her her fish, the girl looking down at it with a disgusted look. She sat in her usual dinner spot and when she lifted her eyes she was overcome by the image in front of her. The fire was burning good and the flames cast an intense glow on June, Kies mouth dropping open slightly as she looked at her. Orange and surrounded by fire it was like an image straight out of some kind of ancient prophecy book and really it was just point of view because while Kie was seeing June as some sort of devil, JJ was watching the sparkle in her eyes that the fire gifted her. A completely different view from where he was sitting.

Junes dark hair was pulled up into a ponytail and JJ couldn't stop looking at her, he loved when she pulled her hair back. She had a strip of skin on the side of her jaw that was a little bruised from his own doing and that brought a smile of his lips. The way that her mouth moved with familiarity as she spoke to Pope about something meaningless but amusing to them. The way the fire danced in her eyes and lit her up, the hue of it giving the effect of a second golden hour at times. He even thought her biting into her food was cute which was when he knew he had it bad, because he reached up and wiped her face off for her before she even got the chance. Instead of stopping her conversation she just slid a hand onto his knee to let him know that she appreciated it, and so he grabbed that hand with his own, interlocking their fingers and eating the rest of dinner holding hands.

June March could be seen in many different ways from many different points of view, but the truth of the matter was that the only one that really honestly mattered to her now was how she viewed herself. And while she had been working on forgiving herself, having friends who loved and supported her sure did help. Except for when they didn't love and support her. June could sense Kiaras dislike from a mile away just from the look in her eyes when they spoke. What once was friendship was now a confused jumble of June wondering why and what she did to deserve this treatment from Kie. And while tensions truly were running high at times, the worst part was the waiting. Waiting for the bomb to drop.
