Chapter 23
We get to our room, and I throw everything on one of the beds. "I'm gonna shower," I tell Alan. He nods, "Okay. I'll be here."
I quickly shower, and towel off. I slip on my pajamas, and blow dry my hair. I get out of the bathroom, and Alan is facetiming his girls again.
"Daddy! Daddy! We heard you on the radio today!" AJ giggles. "Oh did you now?" Alan asks, raising an eyebrow. Presley nods, "Yes daddy!"
I sneak quietly into the room, not wanting to ruin their conversation. "Mia! Mia! Mia!" The girls happy voices chant. I walk over next to Alan and wave. "Hey chickas," I smile.
"Hi Mia!" Presley exclaims. "Well, you girlies have fun talking to your daddy. I'm gonna brush my hair, okay?" I ask. AJ nods, "Okay Mia. We miss you." I grin, "Miss you guys too."
I leave Alan alone with his girls, and brush out my hair. Then, I pull it into a side braid, and call it good.
"Al, I'm gonna go down to Caleb's room. They're watching The Lego Movie, and said I could join them," I inform him. He looks away from his tablet, "Okay. I'll be there soon, be careful sweetie." I nod, and get in the elevator. Chad and Caleb's room is one floor above us, Joey's is one floor below.
I knock on the door. "Who is it?" Chad asks, in his chaddish accent. "Who do you think, Mr. Wick?" I ask, imitating his accent. He opens the door, and allows me in.
"EVERYTHING IS AWESOME, EVERYTHING IS COOL WHEN YOU'RE PART OF A TEAM!" Caleb sings, or rather shouts.
"Where's Alan?" Joey asks. "Well, hello to you too Jo-Jo. Alan is facetiming the girls. He'll be here soon," I inform them.
Chad nods, "Go sit next the that dork and watch his dorky movie. I'm gonna get some twinkies." I shrug and sit down to Caleb who is still singing Everything Is Awesome as loud as he possibly can.
"Ssh, we're gonna get kicked out of this hotel!" Joey exclaims. "No, we won't! I'm sure all the neighbors love my rendition of Everything Is Awesome!" Caleb says, singing again.
Suddenly, my phone buzzes in my pocket. I take it out, and answer it. "Mia, tell Caleb to shut up, I can hear all the way in the lobby," Chad says. I nod, "Aye-aye cap'n!"
I turn to Caleb and tap him on the shoulder. He pauses the movie, and looks at me. "It couldn't wait, Mia, could it?" He asks. I shake my head, "Chadwick said to shut up. He can hear you in the lobby."
"Would you excuse me for a second?" Caleb asks, getting up. He leaves the room and hops in the elevator. "This can't be good," Joey mumbles. "Imma call Alan," I quickly decide.
He doesn't answer, he must still be facetiming the girls. "Joe, go up and knock on the door. I don't want a bro battle in the lobby." He smiles and salutes me, "Yes ma'am!"
I wait in the room, hoping Joey comes back soon. I bounce on the bed, anxiously waiting.
There's a knock on the door. I open it and let Alan in, who is pulling Chad and Caleb by the ears.
I can't help but laugh. "You got caught dorks!" I exclaim. Chad tries to launch himself at me, but Alan keeps his grip firm.
I laugh, dance, and stick my tongue out at Chad, taking advantage of this situation. "Hey, you don't want this to be you," Alan warns. "You don't have any more hands goofball!" I point out.
He laughs, "You're lucky I'm not an octopus." I shake my head, "You wouldn't hurt me, even if you could." He nods, "Yes I would." I shake my head, "No you wouldn't."
He releases Chad and Caleb, who fall on their faces. I laugh, attempting to escape Alan. "Not so fast!" He exclaims, grabbing the hood of my hoodie.
"No! Alan! I'm sorry! Don't kill me!" I exclaim. He laughs, "Mia, don't you know I could never hurt you." I turn to him, "I hate you so much, Powell." He shakes his head, "No you don't." I nod, "Yes I do."
Alan shrugs, "Fine. YOU can room with Chadwick tonight." I shake my head, "No! I don't wanna room with that dork!" Alan turns to me, "Maybe if you apologize I will accept you as a roommate again." I nod, "Okay Alan, I'm sorry." He nods, "Okay good. You're now my roommate again."
"Can I finish The Lego Movie now?" Caleb asks. Alan nods, "Yes, but only if you don't scream at the top of your lungs."
"SCREAMIN' AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS TO THE RYTHM OF OUR HEART BEAT BEATING TONIGHT!" I exclaim. Alan turns around and sees me jumping on the bed singing. "Okay, YOU need to calm down. You didn't have any Mtn Dew today did you?" I shake my head, "No. I'm not allowed, makes me crazy."
"You're crazy enough without it," Chad mumbles. "I hate to say this, kiddo, but I agree with Chad," Caleb says. "I feel betrayed," I gasp. "It's the truth," Joey whispers. I shake my head, "You guys are all nuts."
"Nah, we're just outta our minds," Caleb says. "HEY I USED THAT ON YOU DON'T USE IT AGAINST ME!"
"I WILL USE IT AGAINST YOU IF I WANT AND YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT YOU LIL' SHRIMP!" Caleb says. "HEY WHO'RE YOU CALLING SHRIMP, SHRIMP?" I ask.
"Mia, Caleb calm down. No need to yell," Joey says. We ignore him and continue dueling.
"I'M GONNA USE SUCH TERRIBLE ENGLISH IT'LL KILL YA RIGHT NOW THIS INSTANT!" I exclaim. Caleb looks hurt, he reaches in his duffel and pulls out a Mario hat. "NOTHING CAN HURT MARIO!" He exclaims.
Alan chooses this moment to enter the room. "What's going on?" He asks, giving me and Caleb a weird look. "Nothing," I exclaim, sitting down. Caleb drops his Mario hat to the floor, "Yeah Alan. Everything's fine and dandy here."
"Come on. Something was going on in here," he says. "MIA AND CALEB WERE DUELING AND YELLING AND JUMPING ON THE BED!" Chad tattles.
"I knew I shouldn't have left you children alone," he scolds. "It was Caleb's fault!" I exclaim, pointing at him. "No it was Mia's fault!" Caleb says.
"Why would you blame it on an innocent fifteen year-old girl?" I ask him. "Shut up! You're not innocent!" He exclaims. I nod, "Yeah I am!"
"Hey! Don't make me put you in time-out!" Alan threatens. "You can't do that!" Caleb retorts. "Wanna bet?" Alan asks. I nod, "Bring it on Powell!"
"Joey, go back to your room," Alan orders. Joey nods, and hops in an elevator. "You two," he points to me and Caleb, "come with me." He takes us back up to our room, and sits us in opposite corners. "Think about what you've done," he says.
I stand up from the chair. "No! I won't sit here! I'm going to bed!" I exclaim, climbing into bed. "Me too! Peace out guys!" Caleb says, leaving the room.
Alan smiles, "Sleep well crazy!" I nod, "You too bro." He kisses my forehead and turns out the lights. "I'll most likely kill you in the morning," he whispers. "WHY ARE YOU USING THE PRINCESS BRIDE AGAINST ME?" I ask. He chuckles, "Good night Mia." I lay back down, "Night Al, love you." He pulls the blankets up to my chin, "You too beautiful."
