Chapter One: See...
I was in a land of happiness and comfort. A feeling of warmth and belonging. I could cry out of joy. All my friends enjoyed my company, and my family loving and supportive. But finally someone who would stay by my side for eternity even without knowing them. I felt connection. Loyalty lead us together. The landscape full of colors softly toned, and changing with the wind. Pinks, oranges and yellows. Soft reds and lovely greens. Dashing blues and purples. Each color mixed and swirled well together.Warm rays leaped and jump around the land. Below shimmered a large and round, white glimpse on crystal water. This was like heaven, if it was not.
Then you could call it
Paradise.
But then it started to fade and disappear fleeting into blackness. My hands stretched for it to come back, to stay with me. But it was black and dull. Then...
My eyes flew open and I gasped. I awoke to a dim room. My alarm making a soft bleeping sound. I relaxed my eyes and stiff body. The alarm stopped wailing and crying. My arm slithered back into the blankets after a job well done. I shuffled deeper into my covers. Closing my eyes softly. Grasping to be back in paradise. Then, the light bolted on. A groan blurted from my throat. I squinted blocking the pain. But my eyes could not shut well, I could only see irritating skin orange color. I let out a sigh and pulled the covers over my head. I yanked, the sheet struggling to make it around my face. It was quiet and I let my eyes close half way letting them get used to the beams of light stabbing at my eyes. Finally, I huffed out of bed and wrapped my arms around myself. The frosty morning nipped at my raw skin. I shivered while tiptoeing around, collecting and shoving my clothes on. I felt the coldness fade ever so slightly. I cracked a small smile then bit my lip looking to the clock. I snorted and let out a sigh. I heard a yell from down stairs. I stuck my tongue out at the cracked door and scanned my room. I grabbed my school supplies, "essentials", and slid out the door the sat down my materials and side shuffled. I turned on the sink then grabbed my tooth brush. I scrubbed my teeth harshly while glancing at my reflection. I blinked, nothing. I barfed the toothpaste mixed with the blood into the depths of the drain. I heard shuffling down stairs I glanced at the closed door with unease spreading ever so slightly thorough me. I washed up and clawed at my hair taking out some knots before swinging the door open and lunging to grab my stuff. I trickled down the stairs and observed my surroundings with a slight frown. I shuffled towards the laundry room and snatched my backpack from a closet. The door hit me on the way, I hissed at it and glared. I frowned after staring in the gloom and darkness it held. I shut the door softly sighing. I walked a few steps to leave, then I glanced back. Nothing is there. My brain commented as I slipped on my boots and coat. I rolled my eyes as passed the dim hall back to the living room stopping before anyone could see me. I saw my mother and younger brother. He stared at me with grumpiness flaring like a fire. She looked dully outside, sleepiness clouded and drifted around her. I shoved my belongings into my bag and said goodbye to her. My sibling trampled out the door after me. I trotted steadily down the drive way gripping my bag with one hand. I sighed and watched my steam mingle with the dead cold air. I glanced sideways at the shadow stalking and following after mine. I squeezed my eyes closed for a brief period and widened them quickly. Chilly air swatted at my eyes as I watched the ground come to a stop. I shrunk trying to keep warm and stared blankly from side to side down the road. It was quite blurry when the lights raced towards us. A grumbling bus came to a stop in front of me and I gazed at the opening door. I climbed on and squeezed down the aisle to a seat then plopped onto it swinging my bag to my lap. The lights ran away and it was dark and cold. The door locked up tight as the wheels rumbled along the bumpy road all tired like.
I shifted to get comfortable and crumbed in my seat. I relaxed my eyes, and lazily glanced around as I took out my phone. I yanked out my ear buds and connected the two cold objects. I turned on the soothing music while settling down, the beat wrapping itself around me. I shut my eyes slowly but softly. I felt after a few minutes darkness enveloped me and crawled around me.
I finally could see the light and I urged to reach it.
And then it happened.
