CHAPTER TWELVE, ain't seen nothing
Ashlyn and Tabitha decided on facetiming Nini, asking her if she had any ideas on how they should deal with North High. EJ had found a box of his and Ashlyn's old toys in the attic and has been acting like a six year old since he brought down the box. In all honesty that just made Tabitha love him even more because he was showing his playful and childish side to her.
"Hi, Ash. Hi, Tabi." Nini greeted, looking at the two girls with a smile.
"We're in the middle of a crisis, EJ." Ashlyn said to her cousin, throwing the stuffed animal he had thrown at her earlier. He looks up from the box as he gets hit with the stuffed animal, pretending to look hurt which made Tabitha chuckle. Ashlyn rolls her eyes even though she had a smile on her lips. "Stop it."
"No, you stop it." EJ countered in a joking tone.
"I'm dating a literal six-year-old." Tabitha groans playfully, leaning her head on Ashlyn's shoulder. Ashlyn chuckles and pats her knee. "Yeah, that's your own fault."
Tabitha lifts her head off of Ashlyn's shoulder, noticing that EJ now was playing with a red frisbee. "EJ found some stuff we used to play with in the attic and he's turned into a six-year-old." Ashlyn explained to Nini.
"Tabs, catch!" EJ threw the frisbee to her, but she wasn't ready to catch it and it ended up hitting her right in the face. He winces, an apologetic smile tugging on his lips as he raises his hands up in surrender. "I'm sorry?"
"Oh, you're gonna get it now." Tabitha stands up, picking up one of the pillows on the couch. Realizing that she was going to hit him with it, EJ took off running. "Get back here, Eej!" She yelled as she chased after him.
"Awe," Nini smiles. "I'm obsessed with all of you. And EJ and Tabi are adorable."
"Yeah, they are." Ashlyn nods, her lips formed into a smile. She glances over her shoulder when she heard EJ ask, "Where did you find a nerf gun?" She raised her eyebrows when EJ ran through the living room, now using the pillow Tabitha had as a shield. Tabitha was close behind, shooting at EJ with the nerf gun she held.
She smirks. "I'll never reveal my secret."
EJ looks at her with raised eyebrows and Tabitha sheepishly smiles. "Yeah, okay. I found it in that box you brought down and took it when you weren't looking."
"Wow, you're sneaky." EJ commented.
"Hate to ruin whatever is happening now," Ashlyn speaks to the couple, gesturing to herself, Nini, and Tabitha. "But we got something more important to focus on so EJ leave her alone."
EJ points at Tabitha with the pillow he held. "She's the one who started it!"
Tabitha scoffs. "I did not! You're the one who threw the frisbee at me."
"I said sorry." EJ sends her a sheepish smile. "I really am sorry about that."
"Yeah, it's fine." Tabitha reassured him. She handed him the nerf gun to let him put it back in the box so she could work on the song with Ashlyn and Nini. He kissed her cheek before he set the pillow back on the couch and went over to the box. A smile was on her lips as she went to sit beside Ashlyn again, her cheeks tinted a light pink color.
"So I've been a little tongue-tied today," Nini admits. "Like, as a writer, so..."
"Nini," Ashlyn and Tabitha share a smile. "Are you asking us..." Ashlyn's voice trailed off as Nini nervously smiles at the two girls.
"I was wondering if you two had the bandwidth to collab?"
Tabitha grins, her eyebrows furrowing together when she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. She looks to her right the same time Ashlyn did, looking at EJ weirdly upon seeing he was using a sock as a puppet. Tabitha rolled her eyes even though she had a small smile on her lips. She and Ashlyn shared an annoyed look before looking at Nini, who was looking at them with amusement. Ashlyn and Tabitha were starting to get sick of EJ acting like a kid. He's been like that all day. It was cute and funny at first, but now it's starting to get a bit annoying.
"Yeah, I think we can find the time for that." Ashlyn responded.
Nini chuckles. "Thank you. Um, oh, and have either of you guys heard anything from Gina?"
"Marc told me she was still at the airport the last time they facetimed." Tabitha replies. She tilts her head to the side as she tries to remember when that was. "Which I think was earlier today."
"So those two have been pretty friendly together, right?" Nini asked, raising her eyebrows.
Tabitha nods. "Yeah. They've been hanging out a lot recently. I'm more than fine with it. I'm just happy that it seems like they're both happy hanging out with each other." She chuckles. "Which is kind of funny since it seemed like they hated each other at first."
"That's true." Nini replied.

For the next hour, Ashlyn and Tabitha started brainstorming song lyrics, sending Nini what they thought would be a good idea. They were facetiming Nini again to see if she came up with anything or if she liked the lyrics they came up with that they sent to her.
"Ashlyn, I just got your text. I love what you did on the verse." Nini smiled.
"Thanks. I had help from this girl." Ashlyn smiles, nudging Tabitha, who smiled shyly and shrugged her shoulders. "And I am romantically attracted to your chorus." Ashlyn added, looking at Nini with a grin.
Nini laughs a bit and claps once. "Oh, this feels so good, working together." She smiles. "Just us ladies, doing our thing. It's just what I needed."
"Yes, exactly." Tabitha smiles. She glances at her notebook that was opened to the page she's using that was covered in lyric ideas for the song they're writing. "Since we don't have a title yet, I was thinking maybe 'You Ain't Seen Nothing'. Because, like, North High thinks they've seen all that we can do, but they haven't seen everything."
"Yes, I love it!" Nini smiled.
"Same!" Ashlyn grins. "It works perfrctly with the song."
"Great." Tabitha smiles widely. She grows quiet as she decides to change the subject to a more serious one. "So, uh, how are you doing?" She asked, looking at Nini with a bit of concern. She knew they would have to check in on Nini at one point to see how she's feeling since the breakup. It must be hard.
"Yeah," Ashlyn chimes in. "You know, after Ricky?"
"I'm good." Nini nods. "I'm fine. Um, writing a duet with two willing collaborators," Ashlyn and Tabitha smiles at her. "Doing something with my friends, it all helps."
Tabitha's smiles widen. "Good."
"Um, let's share this with everyone." Nini suggests. "Has EJ heard it?"
"Now that I think about it, it's been pretty quiet." Tabitha realized, glancing around the living room to not spot EJ anywhere.
"Maybe it's nap time." Ashlyn chuckled.
Nini laughs a bit. "Okay."
"Okay, stand by." Ashlyn writes something down on her notebook. "I will send you and the gang a file. I hope everyone's okay with learning a song in one hour."
"If they aren't they're gonna have to go along with it anyways." Tabitha remarked and Ashlyn nodded in agreement.
"Hey, what are spring breaks for?" Nini questioned.

Everyone recorded their separate parts of the song wherever they were at. Whether it was at the airport, at home, or at a restaurant they all managed to learn the song within an hour. Thanks to Big Red he edited the video to put all the separate videos together and make it look amazing. Big Red had even sent the link of the video to Ricky before it was posed on the drama club's Instagram page to let him see it.
Gina was still at the airport, but her flight has gotten cancelled and her mom told her she should go back to Ashlyn's house so that's why she's leaving now. She was on the escalators when she heard a familiar voice ask, "Hi, um, have you seen a green hoodie with music notes on it anywhere?"
She looks up from her phone, looking to her right to see Mac standing on the escalator beside her. A smile tugs on her lips upon seeing him. "Mac! What are you doing here?"
"Well, I saw your Instagram story about how your flight is cancelled and that you're ubering back to Ashlyn's place." Mac shrugs, looking at her with a smile. He walks down the escalator to meet Gina at the bottom. "Ubers are not always the best and I would feel much better if I just brought you home, so here I am."
A bright smile forms on Gina's lips, not expecting him to do that. No one has ever done something like this for her before and it meant a lot to her. And the fact that she didn't even ask him for a ride and that he wanted to help her made her really happy. "Wow, um, thank you."
"It's not a problem." Mac reassures her. He had to admit that she looks even more beautiful wearing his hoodie. "So, uh, I can bring you back in the morning if you want."
He gets something out of the pocket of the red colored hoodie he has on. "I brought you a granola bar just in case. I didn't know if you had ate anything yet, so..." Gina looks at him with a shocked expression and chuckles in disbelief. Butterflies swarmed in her stomach just at the fact that he was kind enough to do something like that. Mac sent her a shy smile, handing her the granola bar. "Yeah."
Gina watches him help her with her luggage as he starts to head to the exit. She glances at the granola bar she holds, a wide smile as blush began to form on her cheeks. This was when she realized that what she's feeling for Mac isn't just a silly crush.
