Get it right this time

Hey everyone! Please Vote and comment. I love you all. The date is in the next chapter so this is just a taster(wiggles eye brows) I can sense a grand finale.

I am sorry for the sappiness/extra cheesiness but I had the worst writer's block case.  Check out JXSSCHXN.

Enjoy. K bye.

---------------------------

I waited.

Those words sounded so useless. And sappy. And worthless. But they really meant the world to me. I waited holding my breath. His face revealed no emotion. I couldn't tell if he was happy, sad or downright laughing at my failed attempt. Those eyes hardened and my shoulders slumped. That definitely wasn't a good sign. Screw me.

I choked."I-I mean- if you have something going o-on. You d-don't have to," I amended quickly, mixed emotions of disappointment all mottled together in my head. You loser Julia. You shouldn't have asked him that way. What a dorky w-

"N-no," he hastily smiled back and the weight lifted from my chest. "It'd be great."

OMFG! I cracked into a broad ear-to-ear grin. In that moment. Life was good. Life was amazing. Go figure!!!

"So, you were saying?" I said dragging out the word 'so' with my hands clasped together, now prepared for whatever he was going to say.He froze slightly, and I got the feeling that he didn't want to say what he had been going to say. Seconds passed with his mind obviously thinking hard about something. Well. This is great.

"Never mind," he ended up shrugging, before saying he would text me the available time to meet up. If there was a chance that once in my lifetime I would be on top of the world this would have to be it. And then he briefly hugged he with a light kiss on the cheeks. My heart skipped so much it hurt.

Nope. I stand corrected. That + that= me on top of the world. This ain't rocket science math equations. I rounded the corner and did the most crappy happy dance ever, earning a few hard and concerned stares. Not like I cared anyway. Then I strutted off beaming like Queen B.

I told Myra as soon as I saw her and spilled everything into detail. She went crazy. I shrieked excitedly along with her clasping hands and squealing in joy. Somehow this only happened when I was with girls. Evelyn, my other friend was just as enthusiastic. Then she came up with an amazing yet equally horrible plan.

"I know what! (She should really take drama classes) I can like, go with you and just see how you are doing."

I frowned, weighing out what good and bad that could create. More in the bad side. "Erm... I don't know," I truthfully remarked, my eye brow cocked. I finally could do it.

Evelyn just gave a reassuring grin. "Don't worry Julia, I'll be like... Your wing woman." Ha ha. Us women. What could I do? I agreed. I would have agreed to anything! I was on Cloud Nine! I couldn't focus at all in Maths, instead doodling love hearts in my note book. Maybe... He could forgive me! Maybe this date will go perfect! Maybe I can be his girlfriend and he can be m-

"Julia," the reprehending voice of my maths teacher snapped. "Answer the equation."

Fiddle sticks. Sugar honey ice tea! My eyes rapidly darted to the board. Thank my unlucky lucky stars that the question wasn't hard.

"2a+5b<D," I clearly responded, rolling my eyes.

She reluctantly nodded. She obviously had been itching to give my a detention. I was itching to judo flip her. There was no violence though as she turned around finding her next unfortunate victim. Three seats away I could see Thomas diligently writing down the notes in his textbook mouthing them as he did. Aww. Who knew handwriting could be counted as cute.

Then I saw Tina. My heart sunk. I had completely forgotten about her. Oh well. I was the one going on a date and not her. So that was that. However I did have a new-found respect for her, not that anyone else would have to know. I smiled to myself knowing that she cared about him...

As if perfectly on time Thomas looked up at me and gave me a grin, followed by a sly wink. He winked now?!?! I sighs dreamily in response. I went back to daydreaming. Nothing could and would rain on my parade today. Not now. Not ever. Except for... You know the rain. Crud, I didn't bring my umbrella. It wasn't that bad though, light refreshing sprinkles.

I found it so amusing when ever girls shrieked like it was acid and shielded their faces with books. R.I.P books. I walked around in circles tasting the sweet watery taste. What would make this better? Thomas. And even better, he walked towards me. He had this strange dreamy effect on me and I stumbled and fell knocking into him. I fail in life. Jerk.

He smirked. "I'm happy you like the rain." He subtly pointed to a flock of girls near by squawking about it in horror, screeching something like,"GET IT OFF!!". So feminine. I just rolled my eyes, my hair now plastered to my face.

"It is just water." I shrugged, twirling around and jumping in the puddles.

"Dirty, polluted, cold, water," Thomas corrected as I stared at him. He looked so gorgeous with the rain running down his face and effectively gelling his hair. Suddenly this crazy spontaneous idea popped into my mind and I blurted it out without thinking.

"We should dance." Well that was random. Yolo.

He frowned really confused. "It's raining. And it's cold. Why?" His voice dripped with logical common sense.

"Because," I said talking like it was obvious," people do it all the time in movies. It's romantic." I acted like we were in this romantic park movie setting lit by lamp posts, and not the deserted school concrete car park. Go figure.

He laughed at this and I waited, doing my don't-you-judge-me face."Y-you are like no girl I have ever known he continued in between laughs. His laugh was so contagious though.... At least it wasn't annoying... I watched him keep laughing. On a second thought....

I sarcastically bobbed a curtesy and stubbornly grabbed a hand insisting," that's a good thing."

I went in for the kill with my fake-looking puppy eyes.... only to splutter after rain water went into my eye. Yet another fail in life. Seeing no way out of this he sighed and grabbed my other hand. Thanks to me and my stupid ideas. Honestly, I had never done any dancing besides the Macarena but hey! There's a first for everything.

Thomas's face knotted up into concentration and pure confusion. "I have never done this before. I only saw it in movies."

Then I laughed and and started twirling on one leg like I saw people do in the chick flick movies. Then I sung around in a circle. So 'this' weird thing continued, the ugly unrefined but equally graceful and hilarious attempt of two high school students. The rain kept trailing down our faces. Hmmm... So far so good.

We unsuccessfully swung around, both laughing at the pathetic mess through the rain. I didn't care that it was cold. Or raining. Or terrible. Or insanely cliche. Or so insanely satisfying. SO satisfying.

I didn't care that this was insanely awkward. Nope. Nothing else mattered. It was just him and I. Me and him. Julia and Thomas. Thomas and Julia.

Give me love like her...

I roughly turned around like I saw couples do, my eyes gazing into his cinnamon hazel stare... The looked caramel in the grey lighting... Julia, stop staring.

Cause lately I've been waking up alone...

I tried to spin- Whoops. An accidental slip as I fell down clumsily into his arms, my hair unravelling into thick strings of brown hair... Fail... Just pretend we meant to do that.

Paint-splattered tear drops on my shirt...

I grabbed both hands and held up them up over our head, unflatteringly snort-laughing at the extra macaroni cheese in this. I couldn't help it. This belonged in that perfect fairy tale ending with my Prince Charming I never deserved... So sad.. Well... Thomas was my Prince......

Told you I'd let them go...

I twirled inwards making him laugh at my bad ballet physique(whatever), and then stepped back into a circle. The moves were simple and cheesy but at that moment, cheesy was good. Cheesy was the new awesome. *author burst out laughing*

Long story short I danced horribly but briefly, although that minute or two felt amazing. When we reached the end of the dance... My traumatized heart started vomiting again. Why? This was always the part... At the end of the 'dance' ... With the rain... Where they kissed. They kissed! Maybe... I slowly leaned in and so did he...

But then Thomas broke his gaze and stepped back with a frown. I froze, more shocked than anything, my heart dampening in the droplets of rain. That sadly, was also cliche.

"What?" I asked. I couldn't help being annoyed... I had been SO close, yet so far. So insanely 30 centimeters far. He didn't respond.

My heart went for a swim in Antarctica. Had my horrendous dancing been too much? Then he muttered something like: see you tomorrow. Without saying anything else Thomas picked up his bag and left, leaving me confused. I shrugged it off unsatisfied. Maybe he didn't want to get sick.

Besides I couldn't stay sad. I had a date to look forward to! A real, real, real date! I slowly brightened up and walked back home humming 'Give me Love.' When you are alone, music is your best friend. The rain gradually stopped leaving me walking alone though not completely alone. That warm feeling never left my heart. One step closer... Let me please get it right this time....

And then I stubbed my toe. Far out.
