Eight | Matchmaking?
We can do no great things, only small things with great love— Mother Theresa

"Let go of my arm Ada what is wrong with you?" Nife angrily asked.
"Sorry I was just angry," Ada apologized loosening her hold on Nife's soft skin.
"About what?" she queried while rubbing her hurting arm frowning when she noticed nail marks on it.
"You're matchmaking without me," Ada pouted.
"No I'm not! What do you mean?" Nife said avoiding Ada's gaze.
"You know very well what I mean!" Ada yelled impatiently.
Nife sighed and urged Ada to keep her voice down. They were still standing at the car park and people were staring at them especially the security men.
"Mummy why are you making mats without auntie Ada?" Tobi asked angrily stamping his foot. He had been impatiently listening to the conversation wondering why they weren't going in, he couldn't wait to play games with Ada's laptop or 'The Lords mobile' on her phone.
"You know better than to interrupt mummy when she's talking, don't you?" Nife looked at her son and frowned.
"Sorry mom," Tobi bent his head and concentrated on his Adidas sneakers.
"Nife," Ada continued.
"I know that sending her to his house wasn't the only option you had."
Nife didn't answer, she didn't want Ada to find out. Besides the plan didn't work out, it was just a little way to get Kemi to see him again thinking maybe he would ask her out.
"You could have gone yourself or sent someone else but you sent her. Do you still want to deny it?" Ada tickled Nifemi.
"Okay fine!" Nifemi finally admitted while laughing. "But it didn't work out anyway so it's no big deal."
They turned to greet some of their co-workers that passed by them. A lady that worked in the marketing department paused and gave Tobi's cheek a gentle tug. He giggled, this wasn't his first time of coming to his mother's office and he was known for his constant pranks.
"We can still do it, come on what do you say?" Ada continued poking Nifemi on her cheek.
"No! I'm not doing anything with you!" Nife insisted while slapping her hand off.
"Who says it's with only me hmm?" Ada laughed. Nife looked at her quizzically.
"We'll ask Kelechi to help since..."
"What?!" Nife exclaimed.
"You're not serious!" she added.
"I am! Come it will be fun like an adventure!" Ada giggled.
"I love adventures! Can we play hide and seek mummy?" Tobi clapped happily only to stop when his mother glared at him.
"Even if I say yes will Kelechi agree to this nonsense?" she asked
"Of he will, he's a friend of my dad's. How else do you think I got this job!" Ada retorted.
"That explains it," Nife thought to herself.
"And besides when last did you have a little adventure huh," Ada continued.
"I watched the adventures of Winnie the Pooh last night with the kids, that counts right?" Nife asked with a straight face.
"Nife you're such a clown!" Ada laughed, "So?" she insisted.
"Okay fine but if anything goes wrong eeh, Aka m adiro."
"God your Igbo is as bad as your attitude," Ada said giggling.
"But how are you such that Nnamdi likes Kemi? What if he doesn't!" Nife murmured loudly.
"And what if he does! That's why we need Kelechi."
Nife still looked skeptical.
"And I hope he does! And besides a man doesn't tell a woman to leave his house just because she broke a jar and let's put our differences aside to help our friend!" Ada added desperately trying to convince her.
"You know for once in your life you're actually making sense!" Nifemi said shaking her head.
"Haha very funny!" Ada interjected without humor.
"We'll see him during lunch okay?"
Nife agreed and left after warning Ada not to feed Tobi too much chocolates. Tobi giggled knowing Ada wouldn't listen to his mother.
~During lunch, Nife and Ada told Kemi that they wouldn't be able to make it. She wasn't bothered because she had a lot on her plate. (Get it?)
"Is Kelechi in?" Ada asked his secretary when they got to his office.
"No, Mr Okafor isn't in," Linda replied in a bored voice.
"When is he expected to arrive?" Nifemi was annoyed. The bimbo was purposely ignoring them.
Nifemi just wanted to remove Linda's platinum wig from her empty head. She was chewing a gum and pretending to concentrate on some files. Her lips were painted bloody red against her overly toned skin and her over fake eyelashes made her look funny.
"Are you deaf?!" she finally yelled.
"I don't know," Linda shrugged.
"Listen your attitude is really annoying me right now!" Ada shouted. Linda looked up at them and looked back down at the blank files.
Ada yanked the files out of her hands giving her a paper cut in the process.
"Ouch! What's wrong with you?" Linda exclaimed sucking on her hurt thumb.
"Your attitude is worse than that of a pig and frankly you remind me of Frankenstein with this your makeup!" Ada yelled squeezing her face in disgust.
Nifemi laughed. Ada was really good at insults.
Linda opened her mouth to rant when the door to Kelechi's office opened.
Kelechi was standing by his door with annoynance written all over his handsome face. His brown wavy hair complemented his face and his body was fit and solid. He definitely made good use of a gym membership, Ada was drooling already.
"Did you two come up here just to make trouble?" Kelechi asked obviously annoyed.
Nife and Ada looked at him in shock.
"Your competent secretary told us that you weren't in," Nife said sarcastically after regaining her composure.
Kelechi glared at Linda and the latter bowed her head in shame.
"Well come in or have you come to fight with me too?"
"No sir! We come in peace," Nife raised her hands as she walked towards his office like an alien stepping out of a UFO.
Ada gave the fuming Linda the this isn't over yet look before going into Kelechi's office.
Linda scoffed and rolled her eyes.
~Kelechi looked at the two beautiful ladies standing in front of his desk. They wanted him to help in matchmaking Nnamdi and Kemi. He laughed quietly.
Nnamdi had been his friend since he started working with Crystal Ltd. and Kelechi knew that he had a rough childhood and frequently wanted to be left alone. He probably was still brooding over being abandoned by his parents.
Another thing Kelechi knew was that his friend had a little something for the beautiful Kemi. He wasn't sure what it was but he never missed the way Nnamdi looked at her when he thought no one was watching.
Admiration, attraction, love, lust?
Kelechi wasn't sure.
"Ehem we're still here... Sir!" Ada interrupted his train of thoughts.
Kelechi looked lazily at her.
"What makes you think I'll help you?"
"Because his your friend duhh or do you want him to die a lonely man?" Ada replied. Nife jabbed her in waist with her elbow and Ada frowned at her.
"What if I say no?" Kelechi asked.
He really wanted to know their motive behind this.
"Then we'll leave your office," Nifemi answered while pinching Ada to stay quiet.
"And what if it doesn't work out?" Kelechi probed.
"God what's with all the history and geography questions!" Ada snapped.
"If you don't want to help us just say so!"
Kelechi frowned at her.
"You should remember that I'm still your boss."
Ada was tempted to roll her eyes. "For a handsome man, you're very annoying," she muttered inaudibly.
"We can only hope and you're his friend you should know whether he likes her or not," Nife said with a small smile.
Kelechi sighed deeply.
"I'll help you," he finally said.

Kemi picked up her bag to leave the office when it was finally closing time. She was exhausted but thankfully Nancy had been in a good mood today so the work had not been much.
She was so hungry, she remembered that she hardly ate her breakfast this morning.
Evelyn had kept on ranting about her skipping work and the woman succeeded in getting on her nerves.
Kemi searched her bag for her phone to call Ada. She hadn't seen her since morning and it was in unusual for her to skip lunch.
Epic foodie!
She noticed a pink paper in her bag and brought it out. It was folded so she opened it. The words were written with a red lipstick. Kemi gasped when she read it.
