Part 3
Thank you for all your reactions and comments from the previous chapter. Here's to another chapter.
_______
Sasuke stood behind Hinata as they sat opposite to the doctor. Hinata looked pale and the doctor looked solemn. Sasuke's heart was racing and he was getting the feeling that something was going to go wrong right about now.
"I'm afraid there is a little bad news."
Sasuke took in a deep breath to calm himself. His hand found Hinata's shoulder to let her know she was not alone.
"There has been a miscarriage." The doctor told them and Sasuke's head started buzzing as he took in the information. They'd lost the baby.
He was not going to be a father after all.
Hinata bowed her head in acknowledgement. Sasuke gripped her shoulder tightly despite his legs threatening to give out. He composed himself and gave the most expressionless face he could muster to the doctor.
The doctor looked at him and Hinata before continuing. "There...are certain complications in your case." Hinata looked up at that.
"Pregnancies might lead to miscarriages and...childbirth may be dangerous for you. Potentially fatal." It sounded like a blow straight to his heart and to Hinata's as well, as she flinched at the doctor's words.
"Why?" Hinata breathed out.
"Well...it might seem like a bloodline issue. It seems your families are related distantly and merging your bloodline is harmful for you. Or it could simply be a mishap. We don't quite know yet. We're working on it."
Sasuke was sure his hand was cutting off the blood supply to Hinata's shoulder but she did not ask him to let go. He needed her as much as she did him right now.
"I'm really very sorry." The doctor told them. "If you want to continue, it will be your choice. However, you should consider the risk very carefully, whether or not you are willing to take it."
Sasuke nodded. "Good luck." The doctor said as Sasuke helped Hinata stand and held her close. It was all he could do when the doctor said Good luck to not strangle her.
Hinata was not moving or making an effort to walk. Sasuke sighed before lifting her up bridal style and walking out of the room. Her arms found his neck and she leaned against his chest.
People were staring as they walked out from the building of the hospital but honestly, Sasuke could not bring himself to give a fuck right now.
The blessing had just been snatched away from him and his wife. Why? He was an asshole. Maybe he deserved it.
But what was Hinata's fault? Marrying him? God damn it.
He walked to the car and helped her sit in the car before strapping her seatbelt. She did not meet his eyes. Tears streaming down her cheeks as she closed her eyes and leaned back against the seat.
Sasuke did not say anything. He slid into the driver's seat and drove off towards their house. It killed him to see the tears in her eyes but he knew he could not make it any better.
Damn. He wished he could. But he could not.
He drove home and picked his wife from the passenger seat and walked inside. He took her to their bedroom and placed her on their bed carefully.
He sat down next to her. He took in a deep breath, intending to speak. But he could not bring himself to say a word.
Not a single fucking word.
Instead, he hugged her. She immediately wrapped her own arms around him as he felt her petite form shake with sobs.
He rubbed her back soothingly. "Hina...hey..."
She did not stop crying and he let her. "I'm so sorry. It's going to be okay." He assured her. She mumbled something incoherent which he could not quite make out.
"Hinata...hey this is not the end of the world." He told her, his heart aching to see her like this. He'd lost the baby. He did not want to lose her too.
"Sa-Sasuke." She said, letting go of him to look at him. He took her face in his hands, wiping away her tears.
"I-I'm so sorry. It-It's all m-my fault." She said between sobs. "I-I can't e-even giv-e you a ch-child." She sobbed.
"Stop that." He scolded her lightly "Don't even think that for a moment." She sobbed harder on his shoulder. He patted her on the back assuring her.
"We'll get through this, I promise." He told her. He was not sure he could keep the promise but he would try with everything he had.
She sobbed on his shoulder quietly and he let her. He only hoped she had an inkling of how his own heart was shattering right now.
He would never show it thought.
He would never break in front of her. Not when he had pieces to pick up and piece together for her.
______________
As they lay together to sleep that night, Sasuke allowed his thoughts to consume him. He lay awake for what seemed like hour to mull over what was happening.
Why couldn't things be easy for him and Hinata finally? Why did they not deserve to be happy? He sighed.
He knew Hinata was not asleep either. They'd drive themselves crazy if they did not talk. He braced himself to speak to her.
"Hina?" he whispered.
She pretended to be asleep even though he could tell she was not. That was fine. She needed time as well, he thought as he turned the other way.
He let out a heavy breath. What if Hinata started drifting apart from him because of this? He did not want to lose her. He loved her too much.
But he knew deep down, if it made her happy, he would give up his very being for her. If she was unhappy, he would let her go.
Would it kill him? Yes. It would. He'd still do it.
He looked out of the window, overlooking the dark garden outside, lit up by the moonlight. His face twisted into a cruel and bitter smile.
Was he doomed to lose everything he ever loved forever?

Author notes:
Another chapter done. I know this was short, but let it stew. What do you think of Sasuke's thoughts? This chapter was his main point of view, his willingness to give up everything for the person he loves.
A part of me just wants to delete this sequel so there won't be so much hardships for Sasuke but, here goes nothing.
Anyways, let me know what you think. Comment, vote and follow. as usual check out my profile for other stories if you already haven't. More feedback inspires a quicker update so.
Until next time guys.
