the philosopher: chapter 3 - wisdom and foolishness
[ecc 7:16-17]
"so don't be too wise - why kill yourself? but don't be too foolish either - why die before you have to?
like the blustering, icy winds of the arctic
to the sweltering heat of the desert, mid-dry season, noon time
wisdom, in its revered greatness,
is to the downplayed foolishness
#
too wise
your eyes are filled with delights
know too much and your mind inflates
then it becomes too late
you seek it, while it runs
and ignore how it ruins you.
pride seeps in, ego breaks in
relationships locked in
the back chamber of your heart
and you will yourself to madness
and die without gladness
alone, grey haired
and with an urge unsatisfied.
#
too foolish
you glance with disdain at importance
[in this life, anyways]
you waste away the hours, in
net losses, useless pursuits
ignoring the signs, bold and chiding
won't be long before you're hiding
running away, from forces that seek you
never find escape, left to count the cost,
prey to the systems, pursued by the people
and you're pushed to breaking point
and shattered by actions,
with an urge unsatisfied.
#
between the two lies an impossible
limbo.
is there a balancing point beyond the clouds?
try, i charge you, to never tip the scale
before you meet the fate that awaits you when you fail.
a/n: hope you enjoyed the last part of this little series :)
