Chapter 21
I am right now sitting next to my father in the dining room and my goodness is it awkward. I mean Hilana is with me plus some maids and guards but this is just oof. I sneaked glances at my father and he seemed very pissed for some odd reason and he keeps holding his stomach. 'Why is he holding his stomach. Is he sick or something? Why am I getting so worried and why am I not calming down? Oh my goodness this man is affecting me! I don't know how to feel?!' My father peeked over at me and I quickly looked away. I waited until it felt safe and glanced back but he was still looking at me and I quickly looked away. I am not gonna make eye contact but it may be too late for me.
Enmya and Amura soon entered the dining room and they placed food after food of ready, cooked meals. I mean one plate is a serving size of at least two people. My father picked up his fork and started shoving it down his throat. 'Has this man not been fed or something. He is eating like he is drinking water.' I watched as my father quickly finished plate after plate within seconds of them coming out. Amura took away the empty plates while Enmya brought in the freshly cooked food. Before I knew it the whole table was filled with food that could serve a party of 50 people at minimum.
'Is this what they meant by a royal meal. I can see why they were talking like that earlier. I totally understand now. I mean watching all this food is making me full.' My father paused in eating his half-empty plate of meat mixed with vegetables and noodles. He looked up at me. "Eat...bug." He said and I felt a stab in the heart. 'I despise him. I'll murder him in his sleep. I'll suffocate him with his pillow! Calm down me too soon, too soon.' I shook my head.
"Your majesty the princess already ate a bit before coming here." Hilana said and father hummed.
"How much?" Hilana thought for a moment.
"Just a little snack. The princess doesn't require much food since she's so young." Hilana answered. My father looked at me with furrowed brows and with a look of slight astonishment or is that disgust, I really can't tell.
"How are you still alive?" He asked looking at me like I'm something strange. 'That should be my question. How have you not died from heartburn or a heart attack.' I smiled at my father and he smirked back at me. That is not a good sign. "Finish it all or be the next meal." My father said and one of the maids placed a plate bigger than the size of my head in front of me with different food on it. 'To what?! The next meal to what?! Your insatiable royal ravine or to all the starving animals out there?!"
"Your majesty I'm afraid the princess is not ready to eat this much as of yet. Her body is still small so she doesn't require that much nutrition." Hilana tried to defend me but my bully didn't care. I didn't lose my smile instead I widened it basically accepting this stupid challenge and that irritated him just a bit since he lost that smirk.
I picked up my tiny spoon and scooped as much as I can into my mouth and started chewing quickly. 'It's good, the chef's cooking is not to be underestimated.' Hilana looked at me quite shocked. 'I'll show him. I'll finish it looking sparkly clean.' I regret what I said. Halfway through the plate, I'm all full. I don't think I can eat anymore but I have to. It is a goal even though it's a stupid goal it's a goal! 'I will win this, just wait!' I challenged him. I kept shoving mouthfuls of food and eating felt so endless. By the time I had cleaned the plate, the table was clear of food. 'This gluttonous being, he isn't human. He can't be considered human, what a glutton, I wonder if that stomach of his even has a limit?' We kinda both finished at the same time but mine was looking polished, though that quickly bit me back. My stomach started turning inside with the food all slushing around and it hurt, felt like throwing up. I held my stomach as all the food was going somewhere else because my stomach had no more room left. I looked around to find no sign of my nanny anywhere. 'Nanny where are you?!' I tried to think back and I think I saw her leave the room looking a little distressed. I was too busy with the food to really pay attention. Either way, this is karma for being dumb.
My father got up and walked over to me and I looked up at him feeling sweat beginning to form on my head. He looked at me coldly like usual. He never wears a smile, it's either a smirk or something sinister, practically nothing gives him absolute innocent joy unless being a sadist counts as a joy for him. "Papa." I barely whispered out and he looked at me. I raised my arm and hit him on the thigh, on purpose this time. He let out a sigh, definitely irritated.
"Fine...you win." He muttered and I cheered for myself smiling like a goofball. He picked me up and I almost wanted to hurl but held it in. He carried me out of the dining room and entered the herbal hall. I still smell all the herbs, plants, and flowers and it's very soothing but where the heck is the person in charge of this place! 'There is no one except for me and this jerk! I mean where are the doctors, servants, or anyone!' My father gently set me down on the bed and went to all the cabinets where the medicine was being kept in either bottle, bags, etc.
All of a sudden the doors slammed open in the herbal hall and I jumped slightly. In came a man looking like my father's age with dark blue hair and golden yellow eyes. Wearing a dark green robe- oh wait he was with my father a while back. "Hey, Lyer quit skipping out on you're work to clear out the pantry! No food in this whole kingdom can satisfy your voracious appetite! If you have such luxury to take a break then let me have my day off!" The guy complained as he walked closer to my father. He turned to look at me and looked confused and I returned the same expression. "Why didn't you tell me you had a daughter?! She looks too adorable, absolutely nothing like you except for those eyes! That still doesn't mean you can skip out on work to make me handle all the annoying complaints!" My father looked as if he was ready to pop a vein. 'Wow, he sure knows how to get on my father's nerves. This can go both ways.'
"Romulus shut it before I turn you into pantry food." Romulus quickly shut his mouth but he turned his body in my direction and headed straight to me.
"She is so adorable! The princess looks so precious!" Romulus rushed over to me and before he can touch me my father's blade was inches from his neck. "Lyer don't be so stingy!" My father glared at Romulus. "I'm sure my daughter will be like the princess, all beautiful." Romulus sighed. I smiled at him as a greeting I guess. "Hey, Lyer can I-." Immediately cut off.
"No, never, scram." Wow, three words were all it took to shoot down Romulus's request and demands. That's rough.
"I don't need to hear that from you besides me and Olaehryia1 will get married and then we will have our own precious princess." Romulus said so happily.
"Could be a boy." My father ruining the sweet moment.
"Don't ruin it for me! I don't want to hear it from someone like you!" Romulus cried out. My father looked as if he was ready to slice Romulus in pieces.
"If you don't have anything better to report leave or I'll make certain that marriage of yours won't happen." My father blatantly threatened in front of a child. 'Father of the year.'
"You demon! You are no human your just a demon with human skin." Romulus taunted my father further and I feel like he's asking for it by this point. "But jokes aside I did come to report about the current trading with the Baraness kingdom. It seems like they want to have a third of our eastern ports for free usage between land travel. Also, they want to implement the drovhan2 law. The reason was so that the trading would advance better with the higher profit made." Romulus changed from goofy and chill to serious and upright.
"Who ordered the request?" My father said sheathing his sword by basically making it disappear.
"The queen, Patricia Baraness who will represent the king as he is currently too ill to conduct court affairs." My father snickered and came towards me with a tiny red pill.
"Give a sparrow some control and it'll think it's a hawk." I ate the pill from my father's hand and swallowed. "Tell them I only negotiate with a ruler, not a replacement." My father said and Romulus nodded his head.
"Though one thing does concern me. The drovhan law, will you plan on passing it?" My father ruffled my hair creating even more tangles and pissing me off which he was clearly enjoying with the small smirk on his face.
"My kingdom is in neither poverty nor lacking in manpower why would I need to pass something as silly as that. Those who use that law will gain boundless glory and greed but also inventable downfall." My father handed me some water which I took my time to drink.
"Even so the merchants are not exactly keen on discontinuing its use. There have been several illegal dealings being made in different ports and trading towns, especially in the larger cities where there are many foreign travelers. It's also gotten to a point where some of the merchants are now blatantly taking and selling without any mind for the risk of doing so. I've also heard from other sources that even some of the noble families are dabbling in this trade." Romulus said looking at his papers.
"Those merchants are nothing but a living source of greed and profit, as long as the business can be made they'll take up the chance and ride with it. The nobles are only doing things to look for entertainment in their boring lives, most of the time it's to lessen their boredom. As of now, it will be foolish to take action against them when they are striking the biggest pay they've ever had in their life. Though it is annoying to have them think they can do whatever they wish...Keep watch and interfere if needed." Romulus nodded his head.
"Bye princess, I'll make sure to revisit you!" Romulus left the room and I was left with an irked father.
"Don't associate with him." He told me. 'Eh, he's not that bad. Better than you I'll say that for sure.' My father gently picked me up and laid me on his chest as he sat on the bed leaning against the wall. He gently patted my head and my goodness is this weird. I feel so uncomfortable that I feel comfortable-I'm...like about to fall asleep. 'Is this my reward? I mean it's not a bad reward but I wanted something better like you dying before me and never resurrected again. Oh well, this is fine for now.'
I fell asleep with the gentle patting and the sound of my father's heartbeat. This is quite nice once in a while.

1.Olaehryia (Oh-lae-ria)- Finance to Romulus.
2.Drovhan ( Dro-han) law- The legal activism of producing, selling, trading, slaves without the need of violating any kingdoms laws. Activaley in effect in many kingdoms.
(Ok so I rewrote a few chapters like 'I'm now a princess' and 'Unwanted rescue' but honestly there practically like the same just little more information. I also edited all the other chapters I published.
Honestly, most of my edits on the chapters were to fix some character flaws so that later in the story they don't seem so OOC. If you guys want to reread from the beginning be my guest but there isn't too much plot change or any if at all.)
