Panzers on Bullrun
The morning was cold. It always was out in the German winter. Fighting against the nazis made it worse. Like adding more fuel to the fire, the nazis decided to assault the base where our soldiers were eating breakfast.
I just woke up when they raided. It was awful. The sergeant angrily ran towards the barracks yelling like a madman.
"GO GO GO!" He yelled. "WE GOT TO GO! THE GERMANS ARE COMING!"
We automatically got up & prepared the best we could for the nazi barrage. We got our rifles & supplies ready & ran out to the front lines.
Many men went into various positions in the snow & readied up to face the germans head-on.
"Looks like they're putting the Panzers first." A soldier stated pointing at the row of Panzers driving toward the line. I knew it. I knew it. They were doing a blitzkrieg! They were so desperate and willing to sacrifice everything...Just to take out a small base!? I was shocked. They can't be that desperate to do such a costly strategy this late into a war they're losing. Would they?
Unforutanaly yes. It was like a Napoleonic cavalry charge.
The Panzers went & blew up many of us, we had little to no tanks to counter the Panzers. We did have some anti-tank weapons. I ran & got an anti-tank gun with some ammo. I wasted no time blowing some Panzers up.
The Panzers blew up in a firey blaze with a loud boom, and the smell of gunpowder & oil spread everywhere as I heard strange noises.
"What is that?" I asked, concerned if it was a nazi wonder weapon.
"I don't know." Another soldier replied. His face described his feeling pretty well. He was feeling dread. "Could it be a Panzer?"
"No. It's to lack a better word different from being a Panzer" I explained. "And if it was a Panzer. It would be right in front of us. Not far away. Plus it's too loud for a Panzer anyway."
I turn and continued firing my anti-tank gun at the enemy. The Panzers were blowing up left & right & all around me. But suddenly another noise was heard. It was even louder than before, and it sucked us into something.
A large ball just appeared & started sucking up everything. Men, weapons, vehicles. All just... sucked up like it was never there. Sucked clean.
The next was a blur for a while. It's extremely hard to describe. But just imagine getting dizzy in a merry-go-round but 10 times worse because you sharing that with nazis. It was also very painful. The blur bent & destroyed some of the things trapped in it. But it only lasted about 30 minutes. That's all.
Not so far away later we landed on something different. A grassy field in a warm climate. I could hear the birds singing, the smell of sunlight & the sound of gunfire.
I snapped back to reality, our men were in combat with the nazis once again, but something different was here. Something bizarre, a violation of reality. I turned to the side to see... confederates?! I saw a civil war battle. The muskets fired, the screaming of "YANKEES!" & "REBELS!" & the shouting of german. I noticed something. I quickly told my army what I found out.
"The Germans are fighting Confederates!"
The men all looked at me as if I just became a jap sympathizer.
"Are you kidding me!" A soldier asked in confusion.
I just pointed my finger at the carnage happening outside. Panzers were blowing up the rebels, and the canons of the confederates were useless. They were some musket fire penetrated the nazis, killing them. It was not even fair. The nazis blew up most of them in a very painful, grueling way. Blood was everywhere, I saw a union soldier with most of the skin gone. I could see his bones & muscles, rotting, being eaten up by the flies & maggots around him. Many of his comrades were mourning him, they carried him to a grave sight not far away. It broke me.
I saw many dead soldiers, and many others with completely broken morale. I felt a certain, deep hatred for the nazis, even more than last time.
I wasted no time, I ran with an anti-tank gun & a rifle & start opening fire.
An SS soldier ran to where we were. But I put a bullet in his head. Ending him. I quickly ran, killing every nazi and Confederate in my path. I had enough of this war. It had to end somehow!
A Confederate ran toward me with a sword. I simply shot him in the stomach with my rifle.
I then looked behind me. My men & the union ran together at the enemy.
I chuckled a bit & turned to the nazis. I quickly used my anti-tank gun & blew up their panzers!
One by one I ran backward & blew up as many Panzers & Confederates as possible.
Some nazis shoot me multiple times in the chest. I didn't care. I still killed them. They should pay for their crimes. Eventually, we got more support. With the mixed powers of the American soldiers of my and Lincoln's era. We won. Most of the nazis were either dead or retreated. I was extremely injured of course.
I woke up in a bed of a hospital I never knew existed. I heard two men discussing.
They sounded familiar with their discussion.
"How did your men even go here General Patton?"
"Well, it's what those scientists call a 'time anomaly' a strange unexplainable event that happens at least once a year."
I was shocked. It..... can't be. I looked at the two men discussing. And sure enough. It was General Grant & Patton. Sitting at a nearby table discussing some "time anomaly"
"What? Am I seeing what's happening? This.... Can't be!" I asked in disbelief.
"Yes Private! Yes, you are!" Patton answered, his smile making the hospital brighter than normal."Were actually here to tell you the news."
General Grant & Patton are actually speaking & met in person! I was shocked. My two favorite generals in the same room? This can't be.
"What news General Patton sir?" I said in an obedient, militaristic tone.
"You're a hero Private. You should be proud of yourself." General Grant stated after drinking some whisky.
I was shocked. This can't be! I'm a hero?! Since when does a person like me get called a hero by Genereal Ulysses S. Grant himself?
General Patton drank some of his coffee before speaking.
"Private. It is my & General Grant's honor to give you a purple heart & a medal of honor."
I was shocked. I was actually shaken. I never thought I was going to get a purple heart, let alone a medal of honor! I could not believe it.
"You serious?! How sir?"
Both Generals laughed a little bit. If they thought I was a Popeye character.
"Yes Private. We're very serious. You ended an entire war." Grant said. He then drank more whiskey. "We're just waiting for President Lincoln with the medals."
"PRESIDENT LINCOLN!?!? Sorry sir but President Lincoln is coming here with the medals?!" I asked surprised. This can't be.
General Patton chuckled & drank more coffee.
"Yes. In fact, he's coming any second now Private."
Before I could reply to Patton, a tall man wearing a suit & top hat with two small boxes in his hands. By this point, I know who this man is.
"Hello, General Grant & Patton." President Lincoln said, his tall frame dwarfing the two generals sitting there. He then turned to me. "Congratulations Private. You are now a hero of two timelines. You have succeeded in your purpose."
The End.
