Chapter One
Seven years later:
"Darling, have you seen my coat? It smells like it's going to rain today and I'm not too keen on catching a cold during the walk to the market." I ask my husband as we prepare to leave our quaint little home for the day.
My raven hair begins to fall into my eyesight as I searched through the house. As I comb through the closet, I feel my dark locks be swept over my left shoulder and a kiss being placed on my right.
"If I remember correctly, you put it on the kitchen table when we arrived home last night." Harry replied, buttoning up his shirt.
"Thank you, dear." I said with a soft smile, as I fixed his shirt collar. "I'll see you at the office around ten after I go to the market and come back to put everything away."
"Alright, but are you sure that you should be on your feet so much? You know that you're not supposed to over-exert yourself when you're–."
"Harrison, I'm sure!" I laughed with a shake of my head. "Darling, I'm a werewolf, I think I can handle a few errands in town."
"Alright, alright, just be safe and try not to over–work yourself. You may be a werewolf but you're still a very pregnant one." He reminded, a soft smile on my husband's lips as he used one hand to cup my cheek and the other rested on my barely showing stomach.
"I promise that I'll be careful." I responded with a light laugh, before a concerning thought entered my mind. "Darling, did you take your serum today?"
"Yes, I took the serum, Lizzie." He chuckled, a brief glint of guilt flashed in my husband's grey eyes. "Do you really think that I'd risk my literal worst fear showing up around my pregnant wife and unborn child?"
Despite the fact that I knew he was lying, I simply played the fool and hoped to God that he'd only forgotten and would quickly take it after I left the room.
"Alright, I'm sorry that I worry. It's not like you're the love of my life and the father of my unborn child or anything?" I snarked sarcastically, with a roll of my brown eyes.
"Alright, I surrender, you win! If we keep bickering, I'm going to miss my first patient." Harry responded, placing one kiss on my lips and another on my stomach. "I love you both so much and I'll see you at ten."
"We love you too. Now get going, before your late for work." I laughed, watching as my husband grabbed his doctor's bag and coat, before rushing out of the door.
I walked into the kitchen and began to tidy up breakfast, taking a seat at the table once that was finished. As I leaned back in the chair, I looked down at my stomach and got lost in thought.
"I can't wait to meet you, little one." I said aloud with a smile, before the smile dropped and a sigh left my frowning lips. "God, I hope that you have better luck than your mother and father, and don't get stuck with one of our curses."
A fate that I wouldn't wish upon even the cruelest of foes, let alone my own child.
