Ruth Claire was watching her niece and Millie sleeping and smiled to herself. She watched Pandora all snuggled up in her bed cuddled in all of her blankets. Ruth got up and walked to the window. She began to cry. Bittersweet memories began to flood her head. She thought back to the time when Pandora came into life.

*FLASHBACK*

A twenty year old Ruth Claire was walking on a nature trail when she heard someone shouting her name.

She turned around and saw one of the maids running towards her. "Ruth stop wait up." "Sapphire what's wrong?" "Mistress Sarah is having her baby." Ruth smiled. "Alright let's go. I want to see my new niece or nephew." Ruth and Sapphire went and returned to the mansion where Sarah was in a rough and tough labor. Sapphire and Ruth arrived just as a baby's cry was heard through out the mansion. Ruth smiled as she neared the room the newest member of her family was. Ruth entered the room and looked around.

She saw her younger sister holding a newborn baby in her arms. But for some reason she didn't look happy holding and looking at her newborn. Sarah looked up and saw her older sister and sighed in relief. "Finally she's here. Ruth take this thing away from me before I throw it across the room." Ruth gently took the baby away from Sarah. Ruth looked at the sleeping newborn child wrapped in bundles in her arms.

"Aren't you just a beautiful one. What is your name?" Sarah scoffed at her sister. "I didn't name her. You can name the ba"'*+-# yourself if you want." Ruth looked at her younger sister in shock. Why did she not want anything to do with her daughter. "So you're a little girl. What shall I name you." Ruth then noticed her soon to be brother in law entering the room. "Where's my son I want to hold him." Ruth turned and looked at Dave sweetly. "You actually have a daughter. And she's so beautiful." Dave turned and looked at his soon to be wife in disappointment. "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed."

Ruth could not believe what she was hearing. Why were they acting like this. A baby is a blessing regardless of the gender. Why did Sarah and Dave hate their newborn child just because she was a girl. "Why are you two being like this. She's a newborn. She did nothing to you two." Sarah got out of the bed despite being a little weak from the labor and looked at her sister.

"She is a mistake. She is a child born out of wedlock. I do not want anything to do with her. If you want her so bad then you can have her. Take her and go and live in that small cottage of yours. Now get out of my house and go where you belong." Ruth held her newborn niece in her arms and left. She left her sister's house and went to her cozy little cottage. She was now sitting in her rocking chair in her cottage smiling down at her new niece. Her niece had woken up and was now laughing and giggling at her aunty. "You are just a beautiful baby girl. You are so beautiful I would mistake you for a goddess. I think I am going to name you Pandora. Pandora May Claire. A perfect name for a perfect baby."

*FLASHBACK ENDS*

Ruth would always think about that day. It was true that her body did not let her have a child of her own. Pandora was her greatest blessing. She turned and saw her friend Millie asleep next to Pandora with her arms wrapped around Pandora. This brought back another bittersweet memory. The was the day that Sarah had her stillborn son .

*FLASHBACK*

As much as Ruth didn't want to be here at her sister's special gathering she felt like she had no choice. Pandora was now five years old and was beautiful. Pandora was sitting in a chair holding a cup with some fruity drink in it in a room away from the grown-ups. Pandora lifted her head only to see a blonde woman with a huge belly. The woman glared at Pandora as Pandora got up to walk outside. As Pandora was walking she tripped on a loose floorboard and accidentally spilled her drink all over the women. The woman started to scream loudly as if she was in pain. Ruth and Dave were soon in the room where they heard the screaming coming from. Dave was furious at the sight. Ruth was at her nieces side and helped her up. She was about to ask what was going on when Sarah yelled in pain. Ruth looked up and to her horror she saw Sarah had started to bleed everywhere. Dave helped Sarah get help while Ruth was comforting her niece who was crying not understanding what was going on.

Ruth was holding Pandora outside of the room where Sarah was having her second baby. "It's a boy." Ruth was confused on why she didn't hear crying. She then heard a shriek of pain followed by heavy crying. Ruth understood what this meant. It ment that the boy was born dead. Something that no parent wants to go through is having their child born dead. The nurses and doctors all left the room each glaring at Pandora like she just committed a heinous act. Dave came out looking furious. When he saw Pandora he tried to lunge at her. But Ruth dodged him and Dave fell to the ground screaming and yelling. Ruth was glad that all of the guests had left or else they would have been witnessing a very rough scene. "That f"'+!:- demon spawn killed Zachery. She killed my boy." "Pandora did no such thing Dave. Maybe you should ask your wife what she was doing yesterday." Dave slapped Ruth so hard that she on the floor dropping Pandora in the process. "Get that f":'+!: demon out of my house. And don't you ever come back here or else I will kill you both." Ruth grabbed Pandora's hand and lead her back to their cottage. When they finally did get inside Pandora started to cry hard. "Mommy Ruth why do they hate me. What did I do wrong?" Pandora buried her face onto her aunt's chest. "You did nothing wrong Pandora. They were just looking for someone to blame for their misfortune." Pandora snuggled into her aunt's side even more as she looked up into her aunt's eyes. "Nothing's gonna harm you, Darling. Not while I'm around."

Ruth began to sing Pandora a lullaby and soon Pandora was fast asleep.

Ruth smiled sadly at the memories. All she could really do is try and protect Pandora from the harsh world as best as she could. Ruth then went to her bed and let sleep take over her.
