3 | Fate or Mistake
I'm currently having a psychological warfare. Why did I even let them stay here? What would happen to me if I was raped then salvaged? Oh my God. I'm scared but what makes me hesitate is the way they look whenever they call me master. There's sincerity in their eyes. "I don't think there's anything regrettable in this situation." I sighed as I whispered to my teddy bear. I may look tough and strong on my outer shell but deep inside, I have a soft spot for cute things. "I won't lose anything, won't I?"
"Your virginity, maybe." Somebody said from behind. I was shocked to see that the flirty Asmodeus was there. He caressed my hair while giving me his seductive smile. I mentally cursed and slapped him and physically removed his hand from my hair.
"What exactly are you doing in my room, specifically on my bed?" With authority, I asked. He chuckled a bit but what shocked me for another moment was when somebody else answered my question.
"Because your room is locked, that's why." Ammon sarcastically answered back while holding a chocolate cake on his right hand. Who else would have answered me without respect? Ammon. Within the past few hours of talking to them, I learned about most of their attitudes and the sin that they possess is one of their most showcased attitude.
I just rolled my eyes at him and said, "Give me that cake." Ammon being Ammon, he rolled his eyes on me too and didn't say anything but continued to eat his cake. Me being me, I hurriedly went near him and fought for my cake.
"Damn! Get your own fcking cake!" He yelled while pushing my hand away from his. I just let out a sigh and stopped my stubbornness. Meanwhile, I saw Mammon enter with a cake too so I went to him and asked him for his cake.
"Hmmm," He mumbled as if he was thinking, "Pay me for service charge."
"What the He--I mean, Earth," I yelled at Mammon, "I own the cake so why should I even pay you?"
It took me at least half an hour to stand up and get my own cake. We talked for more hours and spent the rest of the day with the Seven Sins.
Actually, I never thought that I would feel... this light towards them. There was a sense of familiarity and comfort. I have never felt uneasy or uncomfortable with them. Everything just felt right. It was right. I wonder if this is wrong. A mistake, perhaps? But a mistake never felt so good as this. It's as if they're a family of my own.
I was stuck in making a decision. I don't know if I should let them stay or tell them to go away. I know they're not bad but I'm definitely not sure if they're good. There were hundreds of questions waiting for an answer. Why are they here? Besides being the Seven Sins (and being the hottest men- or demons alive), who are they exactly? Where is Hell? What are their intentions? Do they plan to kill me? Are demons normally this perfect? If there are demons, are there angels as well? If so, are they as breathtaking as these demons?
My thoughts stopped running when Leviathan, the demon of Envy, called my attention and the remaining members of the Seven Sins. I was sitting on the edge of my chair watching Big Bang Theory when he sat beside me and motioned the others to leave the room.
The first thing I felt was fear. What if he started to assault me the moment that the others left? But then I thought, it would have been wise if he assaulted me with his subordinates. So I mentally crossed that out of the list that he would do to me inside my room. The last thing on my check list was what he did. But, of course! The man just wanted to talk to me. How stupid of me!
"Master," He called out which made me look at him, "I know that you're confused as to why we are here."
"Not only that. I have a mental list on the questions I want to ask from you. I could ask them all but we would take all day." I told him with a careful smile.
"I could guess what you have in mind." Leviathan said, almost chuckling. I never knew I had a sense of humor and even if I did, it was at least the size of a peanut.
"What do I have in mind, then?" I asked but soon after I added, "And please do minimize the use of 'master' whenever we talk. Not that I hate it but I do mind it. It's a great honor but it's embarrassing."
I honestly don't know why I started talking semi-formally. Probably because Leviathan's too uptight?
"First, I know that you're confused. You don't know why we're here, right?" He asked. I affirmed him by giving him a nod. "To put it simply, we're here because you're here."
"That doesn't make any sense. You don't even know me." I told carefully.
"Of course, we know you. You're are master and you wield the power to open the box." He said, pointing his head to the box.
"I didn't open the box, though." I said hesitantly.
"That's impossible. You're the only one with the power." Leviathan said defensively. I was about to answer again, he cut me off by explaining more things about being a 'master'.
Leviathan wanted to skip through some parts but honestly, I don't have any idea about Greek mythology so he had to start from the beginning. He said that I was created by the God Hephaestus and Goddess Athena under the All Mighty Zeus' orders. He did not go into detail as to whether I am a 'mere creation' or the Gods' actual 'child'. Leviathan explained that a lot of things had happened in the past, specifically a clash between the Underworld and Olympus.
"Wait, so you're saying that the Underworld and the Olympus are true?" I asked, still thinking that everything that had happened wasn't real. But it is, and the person sitting in front of me is the living evidence of what is happening.
Leviathan nodded as he continued to tell me that I am the only one who wield the power to close and open the box because it is my box. He also said that my number one duty as the wielder is to protect the box.
I snickered, "Of all the things, why protect the box?"
"The box serves as the pathway to travel to Earth. Originally, the Seven Sins are responsible for guarding it to prevent the world of supernaturals to overlap with the world of humans. However, you have finally awakened which means that the responsibility to protect is now yours. As your retainers, we are supposed to guide you and help you fulfill that responsibility." He explained further.
"So I get the box's importance but why the Earth should I do this when you could be doing all of this instead of me?" Confusion and curiosity was evident in my eyes as I asked him. I was eager to know.
"Our powers are limited unlike yours. Lately, we have started to weaken due to the fact that it has been 387 years since the former wielder died." He said. I was listening properly. I didn't want to leave out anything, or anyone.
"Former wielder? You mean, the one before me?" I replied cautiously. He let out a deep sigh. Maybe he's thinking that I'm stupid not to understand but yes, I really didn't understand.
He nodded. "He died 387 years ago and since then, we have been fighting those wanting to cross over to Hell, Heaven, or Earth."
I held my breath, trying to take all the information in but it's probably too much even for a genius like Einstein.
"It's forbidden to connect the three dimensions," Leviathan continued. "If Hell or Heaven got connected to Earth, it would be inevitable to avoid a war between all dimensions. You'd be the first one to get hurt. Which is why even if it's hard to protect the box, we did our best to protect it because protecting it means protecting you."
Still, I can't help but think that they are bad people. They're called Seven Sins for a reason, right? I just can't wrap my head around what he said because these things... it should not even exist in the first place. These should all be a fiction of imagination and yet he's claiming all these are true?
I didn't know what to say. If what Leviathan said is true, that just means I have burdened them and I owe them my life for protecting the box and me. I have been looking at them like some monsters who just trespassed my house, but if what he said is right then I was suspecting my heroes as villains.
Is this fate or a mistake?
