Shattered Glass // Autumn Special

(A/N: Please play the video as background music. The first part is on purpose without music.)

______________________________________

It was a narrow road. The sun has already set a few hours ago. It was one of those cloudy days where the moon cannot be seen, and the smell of rain was fresh. Aside from the distributed smell of rain, there was some sort of smell of iron lingering in the area. . . Or maybe it was the smell of blood.

There stood in the middle of the narrow road was a girl with short silver hair, wearing a torn black dress. Her eyes were expressionless, like a doll's eyes.

The cold wind of autumn touched the girl's skin. She let out a soft pant from her fuschia doll lips. Her breaths echoed, which only showed how silence was piercing through her ears.

There was no one to be seen, yet footsteps were soon heard.

Goosebumps crawled to the girl's soft skin, as she fell to her knees. Her petite hands laid upon a red spider lily on the cold ground, as she lowered her sight to take a look.

All of a sudden a pair of fingers was felt on the girl's chin which lifted her face up... Only to see no one in front of her.

As she stared into blankness with those lifeless eyes, a mysterious sound made it to her ears.

The girl's cerulean orbs finally came to life, as she turned her head to take a look around, searching for the sound. It seemed to be from a music box of all sorts, making a neat and slow sound that was driving the girl crazy.

"Where... where the hell am I?" The girl muttered under her breath. "Why am I here?"

The girl stood and walked at a fast pace while looking around the entire area. She seemed to be obsessed with searching for the source of the music box. Even if she felt that her body was brushing against an unseen presence, she ignored it.

The narrow road finally came to an end- but only showed branches of the road, one going to the right, while the other going to the left. She turned her body to the left, as she looked afar trying to see its end, but to no luck. The same thing was for the right.

The music box was still playing, then she took around three steps forward, only to hear the music fading. Walking to the other way of the road, the music intensified which served as a cue for her to proceed.

She took more steps leaning forward, but then she decided to bother to look back- only to see a black mist as if the previous road she went to was gone.

A black figure was vaguely seen, aside from its growing smile.

She felt goosebumps crawl to her skin again, as the wind blew more. She looked in front of the road again... but felt an unseen presence once again.

"AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"

Tears flew from her eyes as she shut it down, running without thinking about ahead of the road.

As she was running in the fastest pace her short legs could take her, the music was intensifying.

A hint of light was flashed to her closed eyes, as she opened it to see an octagon shaped room with seven mirrors. It was the only light in the dark road, and so she went in.

In the middle of the room was the music box.

She then knelt down looking at it so lovingly with a broken smile and said, "This is the piece I made with..."

Suddenly, she looked at the music box in horror, and it was as if her mind and shut down. She couldn't remember any bit of her memories in childhood.

"No... no... who was it again...?"

She trailed in misery, as she cupped her mouth. She then lifted her sight and met the reflection of one of the mirrors.

But saw a mysterious woman in her adulthood, a woman with long white hair and is wearing a long white dress. Her entity symbolized purity- except her eyes. The lady was wearing a wry smile on her face.

The girl looked back but again, saw nothing but the road she previously took.

However...

When she looked back to what's in front of her, what she saw was something she wished to never remember.

Blood was flowing out from his eyes, he had a large wound across his forehead, and blood was oozing out from his mouth as well.

"No... no...!!!"

In grave horror, the girl looked at the body of the muscular man who seemed to aged around 30, kneeling in front of her with his mouth open.

As an instinct, the girl clumsily ran but fell to the ground the next second. She felt her feet being held back... by a hand.

She looked back, and saw a woman with long purple hair in a dress, holding her right feet. The woman had a large wound on her forehead as well and seemed to have minor bleeding all over her body.

"Please, please! Let go of me...!"

The girl pleaded though it seemed meaningless. Soon enough, the grip loosened and so the girl was able to break free.

She immediately stood to head outside of the room and ran as fast as she could to the road she took.

However, again, she was interrupted when she bumped to someone. She fell to her ass, as she lifted her gaze and expected to see another horrifying figure.

Nothing near her expectations, she saw a tall handsome man with slicked-back dark blue hair, wearing some sort of a butler's attire. He lent his hand and said, "It's okay."

The girl then reached out to the hand, still sobbing from fright. The moment their hands were linked, the man pulled Kyoko to his chest.

The man hugged her with warmth and patted her back gently. He then whispered to her ear, as his cold breath brushed against the girl's ear.

"I shall guide you.

I am your other self, after all."

And with those words, her lids felt heavy and finally, her eyes closed.

"Kyoko...!"

"Kyoko! Are you alright?"

The girl's eyes finally awoken and met the caring gaze of a teen with curly hair.

"Kyoko, you finally woke up. What happened?" The boy asked gently.

"Ren..." The girl called out the boy's world and sat down to embrace the boy whom she called Ren.

"It's okay, I'm here." Ren embraced her back as he pulled a closed-eyed smile.

"Ren... what exactly happened?" Kyoko finally gathered the courage to ask.

"You suddenly past out. I carried you to the bed to let you have some rest. Your sweat was cold and your temperature was low as well. It dropped to... 35°C." Ren explained.

Before Kyoko could reply, all of a sudden, the music box in her dream played once again.

'No...!'

Her attention shifted, as she looked in horror behind Ren. The teen, noticing it, looked back only to see a figure of a girl with long white hair wearing what seemed to be a warden's clothes in the reflection of the mirror.

All of a sudden, she pushed Ren as strong as she could.

The teen boy was thrown to the ground, far from the mirror. Glass shattering was then heard after, in which Ren responded by opening his eyes in an instant and took a glance to what's in front of him.

Blood splattered everywhere, bringing astonishment to the boy as he stared at the girl who's body turned cold.

A/N:

Lol, nobody probably understood that. Did you? (Comment here)

Sorry if the background music didn't fit to your reading pace!

It was supposed to be some sort of "Halloween Special", but I didn't name it like that for three reasons.

1. My family doesn't celebrate Halloween for religious reasons.

2. Halloween had already past.

3. There is no Halloween like the concept here. For example, trick or treats. This chapter simply showed a vague image about Kyoko's mind.

I cannot say that this one-shot is not related to the story. It is related to Kyoko Mochizuki.

Well, thanks for reading and please comment your theories! Everyone needs it 😆

Sorry to those who were expecting chapter 17. I am still not finished in writing it. 😥

Anyways, A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO IS FOLLOWING THE STORY, AND TO THOSE WHO ALWAYS SUPPORT MEEE!!! 💜💜💜

Everything you do for me is well appreciated, and I love you guys so much! Without you, I would probably not even write anymore.

Again, thanks for reading and don't forget to vote and comment down your thoughts!

xoxo,
Eth
