14│ Mischievous Brat
Part 1
In class 2-D, the class of the trio the next day.
Their teacher, Ms. Kawakami was teaching about literature in front of the classroom. Scratching the chalk against the board, writing notes for her students and tackling the lecture at the same time, she did a great job in multitasking.
Ren seems to be paying attention to it, as well as Ann. The black-haired boy has his textbook opened to the page where their teacher was teaching about and was taking notes in the process.
"All right, so we're officially a group of Phantom Thieves, but now the issue is how do we decide on our next target," Morgana told Ren.
In contrary to that, the white-haired girl behind him was reading a book probably not related to their topic. Her eyes were filled with amusement, and her lips were curved in a smile of excitement, and everyone hell knows that her interest was never at their teacher's lectures.
"So this chapter is the point of view of Prisoner 182..." She muttered with entertainment written all over her face.
However, their teacher seems to notice the meowing of Morgana before which resulted for her to turn her head to the direction of the sound. "Did I just hear a cat meow?"
She muttered to herself, then continued. "Just my imagination?" She said before returning her eyes to the board.
"Whoever put up the weird graffiti on the blackboard, erase it after class." She added while as a reaction, curious students turned their heads to the blackboard and saw the logo they saw on the calling card. When she turned her head, she obviously saw Kyoko reading a book possibly not their textbook.
"Also, Mochizuki. Make sure that you're reading a book that's at least related to literature."
The white-haired troublemaker quietly laughed to herself mischievously, "This is a literature."
The students who heard her statement couldn't help but laugh at her guts and way of thinking. Problematically, Kawakami sighed in defeat with a frown.
Part 2
"Hi everyone! How're you all doing?"
This feminine voice spoke in English, and it came from their English teacher, Ms. Chouno. Her hair was styled in curls, and her face was bloomed with makeup.
"These days, its expected for you to know colloquial English - even idioms in other languages."
"I want you to forget being a Japanese in this class and make yourself believe that you are a foreigner..."
The day seemed to be too long, and Ren seemed to not pay attention to the lecture. He gazed somewhere afar outside the classroom and ignored his teacher's teachings.
"Fufu~ I'm almost done with this doodle."
The voice of the familiar white-haired girl behind him muttered in excitement. As her pen interacts with the paper, it produced sketching sounds that will hunt you before you sleep.
The raven-haired teen sweatdropped at her guts, personality, and attitude. Simply put, her entity.
Her actions caught the attention of their English teacher who was in the middle of her lecture. A vein popped in her head as if her speech and whole look were ruined.
"Hey! Mochizuki!"
Her teacher yelled with a foreigner accent at the certain troublemaker who had been pissing the teachers off in this day like a special occasion.
"Yes?"
In means of annoying the teacher further, the white-haired holy terror said in English.
"How will you fare, Ms. Mochizuki? Here's a question. Are you a wunderkind? See if you can work out the answer based on what you know." Ms. Chouno spoke, wherein the teen only replied with a smile.
"Hell yes, I'm a prodigy. I am an epitome of a Young Detective in the city I was born and my native country." Kyoko bragged, in the process answering the question of her teacher.
Her good-for-nothing-but-gossiping classmates started to laugh and talk to their friends, talking about how weird she was.
Well.
Not like she cares.
"Wow! You're smarter than I thought!" Her teacher complimented the said young detective.
However, she just continued to doodle and ignored what they said. Her lips opened to form a grin, proud of how doodle turned out.
"It looks just like him..."
Part 3
Break time came to the trio, and their teacher just left their class.
Kyoko, as usual, sleeping with a book in her face, legs on the table. Her right arm rests on her table, and a pen was held by her. Coloring materials were also scattered on the desk and her doodle notebook was on her desk as well.
The black-haired boy in front of her stood from his chair, heading to the canteen but stole a quick glance from the white-haired behind him. It was truly supposed to be a quick glance, but it ended up being a stare. Soon, he moved towards her sleeping body and removed the book covering her face revealing her cute-innocent-looking-angel sleeping face.
Due to that, he was assured that her sleep is deep. He then sneakily took her doodle book, slowly taking it to his seat. Sitting back in his chair, he opened it and what he saw astounded him - a very beautiful painting of a sunset, a scenery in a rooftop of a certain building. It was well-drawn, and he couldn't help but be amazed at the painting. Though the page seemed thin and crumpled, it still looked neat and clean.
However, the drawings on the next page was a lot nastier than the sunset masterpiece. It was doodles of probably anime characters angry or blushing, laughing or crying. But, the next doodle touched his heart. It was a sketch of himself and Kyoko, and a motorcycle passed by beside them. They appeared to be hugging each other, but that scenario was still clear in his mind.
The motorcycle rider attempted to end the life of the white-haired in an uncovered reason, where Ren witnessed it and saved her life without a second thought.
A smile crept up to his face, then turned to the next page.
What he saw was a chibi drawing of a boy, and by the looks of it he was in his teens and looked like an older brother of the little girl beside him. The boy had a short white hair as well, gray eyes, and wears a red vest over a long-sleeved t-shirt. He has his gloved-fist raised up like a proud boxer.
The little girl, on the other hand, seemed to be proud and promoting her older brother.
About to turn to the next page, the teen jumped in shock when a foot stomped on the top of his backrest, and he almost went out of balance. It caused him to throw the book on air, where a petite hand took the book in an instant. In the process, it allowed him to see a glimpse of the next page - a completely different drawing, that gives a completely different aura as well, compared to her previous drawings.
Though it was just a glimpse, he could clearly remember what he saw. A drawing of a girl in her fourteen, looking down to the floor, tied in a chair. It was uncolored, however, there was something emphasized in it. Blood, the red color of the pen was used to color it. Blood was on the tips of her fingers, dripping to the ground.
He slowly turned his head to the girl behind him, only to see the white-haired girl looking like a tomato. She embarrassingly hid her notebook on her bag, and a deep blush was across her face. She was unable to meet the boy's gaze and looked on the floor instead.
Gathering up her courage, Kyoko looked directly into the eyes of the teen in front of her. Though embarrassment is still seen on her face, her eyebrows were furrowed forming a frown.
"H-have you heard of p-privacy?!"
The girl tried her best to make it seem like she was scolding him, but her shuttering made her look like a tsundere.
The boy only smiled in reply, then went immediately to the canteen. Just seeing her smile reassured him and his troubled thoughts.
'That drawing... it's probably just influenced by the books she read...
Or is it...?'
Part 4
Finally, classes have ended, thus, freeing the prisoners of hell in the land called school. Kyoko's little quest for this afternoon in her mini-game is called 'annoy the fuck out of the wardens', referring to the teachers for only the wardens can release the prisoners.
In front of the girl was Ren, sighing problematically as he zips his bag with his adorable cat in it.
"Hey."
A voice of a boy was heard in front of him, where he lifted his sight to meet the boy's. The boy was wearing the Shujin PE uniform, and his hair was unusually navy blue.
"You checked out my site, right?"
Mishima asked the black haired, wherein the teen remained silent waiting for the next statement of the boy.
"There are way more evil adults outside of Kamoshida. But I'm sure that the Phantom Thieves will do something. So I put the site up to cheer them up in my own way."
His words brought shock to the other, does he possibly know their identities? However, that did not change the cool expression in the ravenette's face.
"What are you..." He said, but his words remained as is when the blue-haired teen talked.
Mishima leaned his face towards the teen, in which the black-haired teen backed his face away hoping to get the thing you call 'personal space'.
"I get it. You have nothing to do with the Phantom Thieves right?"
"Personal space," Ren replied with a hint of annoyance and coldness and avoided his question at the same time.
Finally leaning his face away considering the warning of the black-haired teen, he spoke, "I did you wrong, so the least I can do is apologize. Anyway, I'll do my best on my end, so I'm counting on you!"
The boy waved as he ran out of the class. Finally away from pressure, Ren sighed.
However, it seems that not all of the obstacles have been removed.
A teen with a bob brown hair with blunt bangs, wearing a modified school uniform of Shujin Academy made its way to their classroom. She looked down in sadness as she stared at the floor, remembering the principal's orders.
A few moments ago
"The culprit behind the calling card? But wasn't that a prank?" A female student who had brown hair in a bob cut with blunt bangs and a French-braid style headband that matches her hair color and ruby eyes asked the principal.
Her winter school's uniform appeared normal but without the standard blazer. Instead, she wore a black halter vest over a long sleeve white shirt with a turtleneck which was different from normal turtlenecks for female students. She wore the regulation black and red pleated plaid skirt, black pantyhose and black ankle boots.
"I'd like to identify them so that I can handle the media and police in a correct fashion." The principal replied with a devilish smile.
"I don't like this. I mean, spying on students..." The female student held her chest. A worried frown crept to her face, but sadly, the principal doesn't seem to care.
"I'm asking you because I thought you were my best choice." The principal said as he wore a disappointed expression causing the girl to frown in sorrow.
"Also," The principal said which immediately caught the attention of the girl which caused her to lift her sight. The principal sighed problematically, as if he was defeated.
"Every after a teacher attends their class in 2-D, they would come here, complaining about a certain mischief-maker in the said class." He said before he looked back to the girl. "Mind if you take care of that as well?"
Present
Here, the girl was standing. Finally, she lifted her head and covered her thoughts with a stern face, as she made her way inside the room.
She seemed to have quite the presence, for she caught the attention of the two students left inside the room. Making her way to a certain white-haired student, she spoke as she made footsteps.
"Kyoko Mochizuki, correct?"
"Yeah, who're you?"
Kyoko's gaze was still locked to the girl, but her face was rather unamused. Though the boy in front of her seem to pay attention, he was wearing a plain face waiting for the next reply.
"I'm Makoto Nijima. The student council president." The brown haired finally introduced herself, a new name Kyoko heard.
"What do you want?"
"I'm just here to warn you of your attitude. What's special with this day?"
"Uhh... My birthday...?"
It was nothing but an insult that cannot be easily seen given her facial expression which appears to be innocent as if she was sincerely thinking.
"I'd really appreciate it if you stop giving trouble to anyone in the school. That includes the teachers and fellow students,"
The student council president warned to the girl, though it was obvious that she really didn't care much. The white-haired, in reply smiled mischievously.
"Promise." The girl gave a sincere smile which contradicts to her raised left hand.
Makoto gave a last serious stare before leaving the classroom with a small hint of being pissed.
'Just you wait, Mochizuki. The day will come where I'll prove to my sister that your attitude is intolerable.'
