It Was a Dark and Stormy Night...

It was a dark and stormy night, and the ninja were all sloshing through the dark pines of Hiroshi's Labyrinth.

"Why are we in Hiroshi's Labyrinth?" Jay frowned.

Beep shushed him. "Ignore me. I'm not here."

He held up a finger in argument, but Beep quickly donned her cloak of invisibility and disappeared from sight.

Jay scratched his forehead. "Huh." And with that, he continued on his waterlogged journey.

But the truth was that Jay had asked a very good question: Why were the ninja in Hiroshi's Labyrinth?

Well you see, it all started with a mission to save the commissioner from his mother-in-law. She was serving pickled beet juice on this dark and stormy night, and since the police chief was allergic to beets, he couldn't have any. His mother-in-law became furious and tied him up in the closet.

Anyway, the ninja were supposed to save him. However, because of a seven-way traffic accident, their mission route was held up on a three-day delay. Their GPS had rerouted them through Hiroshi's Labyrinth. Even going through a labyrinth was quicker than waiting on Ninjago's emergency forces to clean up a vehicular accident.

However, technology didn't account for how low the gas would get on the Earth Drill. Its driver Cole didn't account for low fuel, either - apparently, he was too preoccupied by the dark and stormy night to notice how low the needle in the fuel gauge had dipped.

But anyway, they were now all shuffling through the woods. Rain pitter-pattered against tree leaves above, causing an arrhythmic trickle to disturb each ninja as he tramped through -

Nya cleared her throat. "He? Can't you pick something more inclusive? You realize we're not all male, right?"

Beep coughed. "Sorry. I was getting caught up in it all."

Nya released a long sigh, pulling her jacket tighter around herself and continuing in her path. After all, it was a dark and stormy night, and standing still wasn't getting her any closer to a gas station.

Anyway, the ninja were all following Zane. He was the only one with a built-in GPS, and they really needed to find a gas station. Who knew how much longer the commissioner would survive with his mother-in-law?

"What's that?" Kai suddenly asked, pointing to something up ahead.

Cole frowned, stopping in his tracks. "I don't see anything."

Lloyd squinted. "I think it's a...a light! Zane, does your GPS say that's a gas station?"

"No," Zane replied after a moment. "How curious. My scanners do not pick up any signs of civilization for the next fifteen miles."

"Maybe you need to update your GPS info?" Jay suggested.

Zane shook his head. "I updated my programming just this morning. I'm afraid that unless some form of civilization popped up in the last fourteen hours, the light up ahead cannot signal a structure."

The ninja were all interested in what this strange glowing object could be, so they picked up the pace and ran in its direction.

Soon enough, voices were audible. A low growl occasionally filtered over the breeze, followed by a somewhat-annoyed, higher-pitched tone.

Realizing the possibility of a threat, Lloyd slowed his steps. The rest of the team followed suit, opting for a stealthier pace.

"We never should've left the car, Morro," the higher voice snapped over the breeze.

"I can't help that we broke down, babe," the low, gravelly tone replied. This was presumably the person the other voice had called Morro.

"I am not your 'babe'," came the scoffing answer. "We've been on one date. And it's a pretty dang bad one, if I do say so myself."

Morro chuckled. "Sweetheart - "

***And that's where you all pick up... :)***
