Chapter 55

Arjun shut the door behind him, his body filled with relief, she was fine, the thought enough to ease his heart,he wrapped his his hand around the gandiv, as he heard the roar of angry man making him growl.

Fury blazed through him as he ran down the corridors, jumping over the dead bodies as he simultaneously shot blazing arrows setting anyone on fire, he glared at the man, who ran towards Bheem, his sword raised high, a war cry leaving through his mouth.

Arjun's fists clenched, his jaw setting, he'll be damned before something let to his brothers the six were one unit, surely different bodies but one soul.

One family.

And this moron thought that he could hurt one of his brothers? Fool he was.

He roared as he pulled the string of his bow and let the arrows go, blazing thorough the corridor the arrows zinged piercing the man making him scream, the arrows piercing him making him roar in pain as he went down like a bag of bricks.

Bheem's eyes met Arjun's the two smirked, sharing a nod, before returning to their fights.

Vrikodar raised his mace, slamming it hard on the head of the man, crushing his head under the mace, the blood splashing on his face,  as the gooey substance of his brain slipped out thorough the crushing mush of his brain.

Yudhisthir swirled the spear in his hand, the sharp edge of it slicing the necks of the men around him open, their hands loosened on the sword as they fell back.

Karn, Nakul and Sehdev had their backs to each other, as they fought, ceasing the life force anyone who came in their sight.

Bhadraaksh growled, he glared the pandavas, this morons think that they can defeat him? He was blessed with the boon that no men or women can kill him except his daughter, and the best part?

He had no daughter.

An arrogant chuckle passed thorough his lips, his eyes lit with evilness, insanity lit his face, as he picked up the mace, marching up to Vrikodar.

He growled as he raised his mace, and with a loud cry he brought it down,  a loud roar of anger and hatred leaving his mouth, this pandavas thought that they were the best?

He will show them! He growled, a loud sound of metal hitting metal filled the room, as Karn's mace hit Bhadraaksh's.

"Before harming any of my brothers you have to pass through me! As long as I am alive you can't touch them!" Roared Karn, fury running through his veins as he glared at the dark red eyes of Bhadraaksh.

Mace wasn't Karn's most favoured weapon it was true, but that didn't mean that he didn't know how to yield it.

"So the elder brother has decided to give his head as a sacrifice first?" Taunted Bhadraaksh, as he raised the mace hitting and attacking, following no rules of mace fight, Karn abided by the every rule, yet managed to give him a tough fight.

One of Bhadraaksh's man growled as they glared at Vrishali, and kicked her hard in the chest making her hit the nearby pillar hard, a loud scream of agony leaving her mouth, as agony poured through her body.

"Bhabhishree!"

"Jiji!"

"Mata!"

"Jyest mata!!!"

The pandavas and their family screamed, Vrishali's pain filled scream distracted Karn, making his head snap to the side, Bhadraaksh smirked as he raised his mace hitting Karn right in the side of his face.

The crunching sound of the bones filled the room, as blood poured out of his mouth, Karn's ear's rang with a sharp sound, as his eyes stayed on Vrishali who was on ground her eyes wide in shock, as she gazed back at him.

Agony thrummed through him, making it difficult for him to think.

The pandavas roared as they ran towards Karn. Bhadraaksh nodded at his men, as they raised their sword, the zincing sound filled the air as the five brothers were stabbed.

"AAARRYYAA!!!" Multiple female voice's screamed on top of their voice, as the pandavas coughed up blood, Karn roared trying to fight back, Bhadraaksh smirked raising his brow, Karn roared.

"YOU MONSTER!!!" The anger filled sound was cut off by the painful groan, as Bhadraaksh pulled out the dagger and stabbed him deep in his stomach.

A painful groan left Karn's mouth, as agony flared through him, Bhadraaksh rotated the tagger making a painful groan leave his mouth.

Blood pouring out of his mouth, as the other five brothers roared in fury and agony, "BHADRAKSHHHHH!!!" Roared the five men, the man in question roared in evil laughter, the humourless laughter ringing  throughout the room.

Bheem struggled to get up, another bolt of agony ran through him, the sharp zinging sound of the sword filled the room, the sharp blade crunched through his bones, warm blood bubbled up, his entire body thrummed with agony.

What would happen to his brothers? His wives? His sons and nephews? His sisters? He couldn't give up, the ache in his entire body demanded that he gave in, but the thought of his family had him fighting back.

His body grew weak, blood pouring out of his wounds, he could hear the screams of Hidimbi, his brothers, his mind flitted to the thought of Panchaali, who lay up,unaware of everything.

If even one of you didn't return to me I  shall follow you. . .

Her words rang through his mind like a broken record, fueling him to hold onto to the one thread of his life, Panchali, she was nurturing a life within her, how can he give up at such a crucial stage of their life.

Sehdev laid in his blood, his ears were ringing with different sounds, soft sound of the anklets reached his ears,  "arya." The voice whispered, the soft voice of his youngest bride reached his ear, was he hallucinating?

He knew he was, but for this one moment, he just wanted to forget everything, and replay the happy moments of his life.

Vijaya, Panchaali. The two women who  had made his life beautiful. Made him complete.

Agony thrummed through him, every part of his body was pulsing with unimaginable ache, yet there was a peace in his heart, he had a lived a life of dharma, had two beautiful partners, who loved him, and whom he loved, had a beautiful son and another was on way.

His one regret maybe he won't be able to see him.

A lone tear traced down the corner his eye, forgive me Panchaali. I promised to return to you, but fate seemed to have other plans love. I love you. . .

Nakul coughed up blood, his clothes soaking in the dark red liquid, Karenumati rushed beside him taking his head in her lap, as she broke crying, her loud cries piercing through his heart.

"Shhh...lov..love. Don't cry, if one thing I hate the most is to see tears in yours and Panchaali's eyes. You two should always smile, souls are forever alive dear, and I love you both my souls, so why cry?" He whispered wiping her tears, his heart sizzling at the thought, who would wipe Panchaali's tear.

He wanted to stand up and fight, with everything in him but body was giving up. Panchali, the face of his youngest bride flashed in his mind, so young, so innocent, his one of the most precious possession.

"Don't let her break, that silly girl cries a lot." Whispered Nakul, his voice soft chocking on agony, his throat tightened. "Tell her I am sorry, I want to walk with her this beautiful journey of our life but fate, tell her that I love her. I love you.  I am sorry. . ." Karenumati's cries shook the very base of the palace, her heart wrenching agony shredding the silent palace .

Karn's breathing was laboured, his gaze fixed on Vrishali who lay unconscious feets away from him, he wanted to move but the pulsing agony racking thorough his body made it difficult to even breath.

Panchaali, years ago he had met her and his life had completely changed, the woman had flipped everything in his life making it so beautiful.

His heart zinged with agony, as the images of taking the marriage vows with her flashed to his mind, her tender steps around the holy fire, his vow to protect and today everything shattered, his body was giving up and his soul was mourning the separation.

The agony in his heart was way more than any physical wound, he felt like clawing his heart out.

Yudhisthir drew a deep agonising breath in, laying in the pool of his own blood, his mind was filling with the images of his wives, women who had made him who he was, weaved his life with their love and sacrifices.

His hand moved to his waist, where Panchaali's mangalsutr rested, a sharp bolt of agony slithering his heart, their happy world, where they were awaiting another life was pushed in jeopardy, everything was up in flames and what could he do?

Just watch.

His heart gave a sharp squeeze, as he recalled the beautiful face of Panchaali, her eyes, those innocent dark orbs that always gazed at him with a mix of love and mischief, his heart gave a sharp squeeze, it didn't matter to him that he was dying, but the fact that he wouldn't be able to see that beautiful face, sizzled his heart.

Arjun's eyes were fixed on the door that he had locked Panchaali in, the last final moments with her playing in his mind,  his eyes fell on Subhadra who gazed at him with broken expression.

She was silent, no longer crying, her eyes gazing at him, as she sat there broken, like a living corpse.

His throat tightened, he wanted to reach out, wipe those tears, but he couldn't. His mind flashed with the images of his sleeping wife upstairs, his heart thrummed with agony, regret weighing him down, he was fighting with his every breath to just hold on, but time was slipping from his hands, his life was too.

Loud screams of the pandav patnis filled the sky, the agonised cries shattering the silence that lay heavy on the room, as the pandavas eyes shut, their breaths gushing out, they thrashed and fought to reach to their husbands but the hooded men held them back.

Hopelessness settled heavy on the place, terror sinking in the hearts of people as the six protectors shut their eyes.

Laughter rang in the room, as Bhadraaksh and his people enjoyed, rejoiced the deaths of the six men.

"Valorous kings? Was this the valour?" Taunted Bhadraaksh, his mocking laughed ringing through the hallway, his laughter was cut off as his gaze fell on the woman who walked down the steps of throne room.

Tears were filled in dark doe shaped eyes, the beauty of the woman was unlike any other he had seen before. His eyes lit with lust, as he gazed at the luscious body of the woman ahead of him.

"What a beauty." He whispered, his voice soft in awe, while he gazed at the woman in front of him. His hands itching to hold her.

Panchaali's breath left in a whoosh, as she gazed at her husbands, the six men of her life, men who were everything to her.

"Arya." She called out, her heart trembling with terror as she awaited their response.

Everything around her faded, tears poured down her heart, her heart thrummed with an agony so intense that the simple act of  breathing was proving to be difficult.

She felt as though someone had set a fire in her, and she was slowly burning.

"Arya." She called again, her heart breaking more, the cracking sound of it reverberated her body with an ache that no words could describe.

Her mind refused to believe what her eyes were witnessing.

"ARYYYYAAAA!!!" She shouted, raw agony reverberating through her words.

"Panchaali. They are no more." Whispered Hidimbi, her voice dead, as she sat beside Bheem, looking devastated, like a woman who had lost her everything.

The words hit Panchaali hard, making her stumble back, her head shaking slightly, "No... " She whispered, "No! NO! NO! NO!!!! I REFUSE TO BELIEVE YOU! YOU'RE LYING THEY CAN'T LEAVE ME!!!" She screamed on top of her lungs, fury and agony tangling in her.

No matter who said what, she refused to believe, Panchaali was still breathing wasn't this proof enough that the pandavas were still alive?

Than why were this people saying this none sense.

"You can't leave me arya Arjun. Remember you promised me to be with me for the rest of my life. And you Dharmraj! You promised me that you will spend the rest of your life with me. Arya Karn you promised me an eternity of happiness, and my happiness is you so how can you leave me? Arya Nakul you promised to be there for me, through thick and thin, than how can you leave me? And you Arya Sehdev, were you lying when you said that you wouldn't let tears ever come in my eyes. How can you leave me with this eternity of agony! How???  And you Arya Bheem you promised to protect me for life, is this how you keep your promise? Arya Arjun answer me! Weren't you the one who had promised me that you will forever be there for me! And now you are leaving. You all are leaving!

Answer me pandu putron! Don't be quite, don't hold her tongues now! Answer me?!" She screamed, a loud agonising cry leaving her mouth as her knees gave away making her fall on the ground, as she broke down crying.

Bhadraaksh laughed, his humourless laughter ringing throughout the place, "they won't answer you. For this losers are dead! I am the new king of this palace,  I am the one who owns you!" He taunted, his words mocking, fury flared in through Panchaali's chest, as she glared at the man ahead of her.

Disgust and Fury crunched through her, "king? You call yourself a king? You are nothing but a robber who had attacked at night because you had no valour, no manliness to face my husbands in the day light of the battlefield. By your manipulative ways you might have won this piece of land and money, but Panchaali is solely owned by her husbands.

You can't even touch a hair on my head. For my husbands will shred you. This people around here may believe that they are dead but I know they aren't, they can't die for I am still breathing! I am no piece of cloth that you can just own murkh!  I am yagseni the wife of this six man. That shall slay you!" Panchaali roared, her eyes spitting fire, as she glared at the man ahead of her.

Bhadraksh burned with fury, this woman, dared insult him? He was the undefeated king of all time and this good for nothing whore dared insult him? He was the king!

Fury burned through him, as he glared at the woman ahead of him, "you whore I wanted to make you my queen! But you have proven, whores are nothing good than just pleasuring a man! You have so much arrogance on this dead husbands! Let's see if they can save you from the fate of public rape! You whore let's see if this dead corpses can save you!!" Roared Bhadraaksh, spitting the words.

Horror spread throughout the place, "You monster have fear of God!" Roared Devika, her patience snapping as she glared at the man ahead of her.

"I will kill you!!!" Screamed Hidimbi, her restraints snapping, hasn't he done enough?

Protests and roars of anger filled the throne room from the pandavas family, Panchaali felt like the world had suddenly taken away all her happiness, she sat gazing at her husbands, they were her everything.

And they no longer existed.

Panchaali gazed at him, while she wiped her tears, her face turning a mask of determination while she held her hand up silencing every protest.

Her gaze fell motionless on Karn, who lay in front of her. "If I am meant to be protected than my husbands will. If my relationship is the purest to my husbands, if I have loved them with my complete heart then it would be them protecting me. " Her voice lacked life, while she gazed at her husbands, Bhadraaksh laughed.

"Fool women are indeed." Stated Bhadraaksh laughing at the man ahead of him.

She shut her eyes, joining her hands, her mind reaching to that one man, whom she knew would never disappoint her.

Her heart filled with calmness, "Govind."  His name rang through his ears, penetrating through the ocean of anger and pain that warred in his chest. His guilt was heavy on his heart, as he too had been a silent observer till so far, fate rendering him weak, "Govind." The brokenness of her heart, the sharp edge of her cracked heart sliced through his. Agony and torment like never before had today shattered his mind and soul, her fury was just fueling his.

A bright light appeared from his chest, as it moved to the throne room dividing into six aura balls before entering the six pandavas.

Bhadraaksh laughed, "Oh mighty pandavas!

Protect your wife if you can! Anyone here who reaches this woman first can take pleasure from her. The stage is open to all." Bhadraaksh called up, his voice ringing with amusement while he looked around gazing at them all.

Roars and cheers filled the room of the men, as Panchaali's family roared with fury, fighting and struggling.

Panchaali's heart thrummed with terror, while she shut her eyes. The memories of her husbands playing in her mind. . .
