Chapter 24

Panchaali walked in Ghatotkach's room, who lay in his bed peacefully, a smile appeared on her face as she noticed her sleeping son. He looked so cute while sleeping, she walked towards him and ran her hands through his hair as she sat on the bed. "Wake up putr." She said in a loving tone as she caressed his hair, he gave a sleepy groan and laid his head in her lap, "let me sleep mata." He said sleepily making her grin wider at his cuteness.

"Don't be baby. We have lots of work today to do!" She said excitedly, looking down at him, he groaned, "mata the sun is not even out, how can you be so excited at such a time!" He asked annoyed, she ruffled his hair, "of course I'm excited. It's my all my aryas and jiji's marriage anniversary! Have you forgotten that today all six of them had gotten married?!" She questioned, excitement lacing her words. Ghatotkach's eyes flew open as he sat up looking at his mother. "Oh my god! How can I forget! Thank you mata you're the best! I would have been chastised again by everyone for forgetting it. But you saved me!!!" He exaggerated as he hugged her fiercely making her chuckle as she rolled her eyes at his antics. "Stop being silly, now get up! We have preparations to make. Mata Kunti has already taken them for some morning pooja and will keep them engaged till we finish the preparation for this surprise. Hurry we don't have time. Guests will be arriving soon, I have already sent invites to Hastinapur, Panchaal, Dwarka, Sindhpradesh and families of jijis. They should be here any moment now." She said as she stood up, he looked at her with wide eyes. "Mata this is not going to be a small function, is it?" He already knew the answer as he looked at her, how did she manage to do so much without him knowing? Or anyone for that matter.

She turned to look at him and smiled, "Nope." She stated with a smirk, he looked at her flabbergasted, they needed to hurry, he thought as he got out of the bed as she left the room.

Panchaali sighed as she looked around at all the guests, so many of them were here. Nine royal families were here, and she was running around everywhere, trying to see the preparations. The decorations, the food, the other arrangements. Ghatotkach was only handling the gifts and decorations and he was ready to give up. He couldn't understand how his mata was able to do so much.

"Putri." Yasoda and Devki said in unison as they got down their chariots, tears of happiness filled their eyes they looked at their daughter. Panchaali smiled as she ran to her mothers and wrapped her arms around the two, they hugged her back with equal fierceness. "We missed you so much. The whole of Dwarka has lost its glow of happiness without you." Yasoda complained as tears flowed down her cheeks, "There is no morning hugs that I received from you, there are no sweet  laughter  of yours that reverberated throughout the hallway. You have to return." Devki said adamantly, "Devki she's married now. This is her home." Vasudev said with a smile as he opened his arms for his daughter who hugged him, he wrapped his arms around her as he sighed in content. For what felt like after forever he was holding his daughter close to him, his eyes misted with tears as he pressed his lips to her forehead. "How have you been?" He asked as he pulled back. "I am good baba." She whispered as she looked at him, he patted her head affectionately. "You seem to have completely forgotten me!" Nand complained playfully, she gave a watery chuckle and wrapped her arms around him.

"I missed you so much my child." Nand confessed as he pressed his lips t the crown of her head, "I missed you more baba." She whispered as she looked up at him, a tear tracing down her cheek. Four hands moved to wipe her tear making her give a watery chuckle as she looked at her maiya, and both her babas, all the four parents looked at her worried. "Nand ji you made my daughter cry." Yasoda chastised, "I didn't mean to." He whispered as he pressed his lips to her forehead.

Panchaali sighed as she laid her head on her father's head, he patted her hair making her sigh. She than moved to the eight wives of Krishn and Revati, Dau's wife. They hugged her, "how have you been?" Rukmini asked as she looked at Panchaali, "you seemed to have lost some weight! Do the Kuru family doesn't take good care of you?" Revati asked worried, "You look a complete mess! Have you been doing the preparations alone?!" Mitravinda asked horrified, "That is so not right! I am go gonna grill Arjun for this!" Satya continued, "I really need to work on your hair, you have not been taking care of yourself!" Lakshana chastised, "The colors are all wrong Panchi! Haven't I thought you how to coordinate clothes!" Kalindi chastised, "I need to make a face pack for your face, you look dull. You can't go looking around like this!" Bhadra continued, "Have you been sleeping on time? Your eyes have a little dark circles." Jambavati asked worried. "Do you eat three times a day?" Nagnajiti questioned. "Do you drink milk before going to bed?" Rukmini fired the question, "Do you sleep eight hours a day?" Lakshana asked. "You don't work a lot do you?" Revati asked, "You do take head massage don't you?" Kalindi questioned, "You do take walks in the forest, don't you? To relax your mind?" Nagnajiti asked worried, "You do eat all your vegetables don't you?" Yasoda asked, "What about the glass of juice? You drink it every morning?" Devki asked.

Panchaali looked at them, she tried to speak but they were firing questions one after another, not even allowing her to speak. Their worry touched her heart, she giggled as she looked at them. "You all have just met her and already began your interrogation?" Dau teased making all the women shut up, "Dau!" She exclaimed as Panchaali wrapped her arms around him as she hugged him tightly. He chuckled as he ruffled her hair. "Missed you and your mischiefs so much." He said amused making her pout, he chuckled, "Yes I missed your pout too." He teased as he bopped her nose.

"Where's Govind?" She asked as she looked at him,"I am always with you, you're the one who don't look at me sakhi!" He teased, she turned around, tears filled her eyes as she looked at him, her bottom lip wobbled as she looked at him. He looked at with love and a serene calmness as he moved towards her.

His hand cupped her tears before they could fall down, "such precious gem and your wasting them. That's so wrong Sakhi." He said with all seriousness as he looked at her tear drops that rested in his palms. She wrapped her arms around him as she sobbed, she didn't know why she was crying, she had missed him a lot. "I missed you." She whispered, barely audible but he could hear it. Tears filled his eyes as he looked at her, his hands wrapped around her as he rubbed her back. "I missed you so much more my Laado." He pressed his lips to her forehead, sighing in content as he rested his chin on her head, for what seemed after forever he had gotten her in his arms, he rubbed her back as he pressed his lips to her forehead. "Missed you more." He repeated as he just shut his eyes and felt her in his arms, hugging her close. Her close proximity soothed his heart, he knew it hadn't been long since she left Dwarka but without Panchaali it didn't feel right to be there. The glow, the happiness had all deemed, people there missed her a lot, she was darling of Yadavas, the apple of their eye, a daughter and sister they never had.

"You're such a meanie! You didn't even come to meet me!" She complained as she swatted him lightly on his bicep,he chuckled, "You're the bigger meanie who got married and left me!" He shot back, "You're the bigger meanie because you didn't stop me!" She deadpanned, "You're the bigger meanie because you're a Krishnaa!" Krishn teased, "You're the elder Krishna so you're a bigger meanie!" She teased, "You two know right you both sound crazy right now?" Dau teased, "YEP!" The two Krishnas said together and beamed proudly before bursting out in a laughter.

Time seemed to pass so fast when she was with her family, the women of Dwarka were fussing over Panchaali, wanting to know everything that she had been doing. Krishn chuckled as she gave him a pleading look to help her out. Drupad smiled as he watched his daughter, his wives and sons were all around her taking to her asking about her, he was happy to see her so loved and cared for what more can a father need. . .

The pandavas and their wives were stunned in silence as they looked around at all the preparations, the grand decorations, the food, the amount of people and the entertainment was all top notched. The best of its kind. "Wow this is all so amazing." Karenumati whispered in amazement as she looked around, for years now they had been doing all the preparations for this program and had expected to do the same this year, but she did this for them! Karenumati couldn't believe her eyes, she adored Panchaali more than her sisters, she always managed to make her laugh and understood them all so well and now this. For once someone other than her husband thought of doing this for her and she couldn't be more thankful. "I can't believe this!" Hidimbi said excitedly, as she watched the white and red roses themed decorations, long paths were set with the soft red petals carpeting the way from the door she stood to the six thrones, flowers and diyas created a mesmerizing site as huge rangolis sat on the floor. People were talking all over, impressed by the preparations. "Was this your plan mata?" Devika asked excitedly as she gazed at Kunti, who smiled shaking her head. Devika was well over the moon with her happiness, she wanted to hug whoever had done this. "Than who?" Vijaya questioned curious, who would?  Subhadra smiled as she looked at Panchaali, "I think I know who did it." She said with adoration as she continued to gaze at Panchaali, who was busy teasing Krishn as the later rolled his eyes at her Sakhi's antics. Subhadra without an ounce of doubt knew that it was her best friend, she unlike others was not at all surprised that she managed to do all this in such a sort period. Panchaali was a force to be reckoned, when she was determined to do something she did it. If this is what surprised them, she wanted to see their faces when Panchaali organised Krishn's birthday, she smiled warmly as her heart bubbled with even more love for her. Subhadra had no idea what she will do without her. Everyone followed her line of sight and looked at Panchaali,  a smile appearing on their faces as they gazed at her with affection. They all loved her to no end and things like this made them love her even more. "Of course she did it." Vrishali stated with a smile, she should have known it was her, the girl could do anything for their happiness, Vrishali knew that. And Vrishali loved her more than anything for that, Panchaali was like a sister that she had wanted forever, a blessing of gods. Ang Pradesh had never been so happy as it was now, there was a new sense of content and happiness everywhere, she was the joy of her family and her people.

"But how did she manage to do all this?" Nakul asked shocked, when he had left for the morning pooja he expected to return to the palace and do the normal function. He never expected to meet his family and friends, who stood there greeting him. "That too while doing all regular duties? How?" Sehdev continued, he being the planner he was,he knew how long it took to set up a program like this, doing it in a such a short period was a difficult feat and doing it alone was practically impossible, yet she managed somehow. A chuckled left his mouth as his eyes settled on her, she managed to surprise him every time, whenever he thought he knew her, something new was unraveled about her, she was beautiful puzzle that he itched to solve. "I am surprised to see she managed all this without us knowing." Arjun stated, his eyes focusing on his lovely wife, how did she manage this without him knowing? There was not one thing that went under his nose and he didn't know about it. He always managed to know about every little surprise that his wife and the other Bhabhishree tried to arrange for him and his brothers. They always pretended to be surprise, because they already knew what was happening, but this had been a surprise in true sense.  She some how managed to do all this and he was curious to know how. "She is magical." Was all Yudhisthir could say, a soft smile playing on his face. He had stopped trying to verify the logistics of the situation, he just wanted to enjoy and spend time with his two wives, rest could wait. "Everything thing is done with perfection, she even managed to cook all our favorite dishes." Bheem said surprised, he had been to the kitchen right on his return and the food there greeted him was like something that had walked out of his dreams. He smiled as his gaze settled on the woman who had managed to do all this, her laughs and smile making his heart jolt as he felt himself get lost in her beauty like he did every time he saw her. "We really are lucky to have her." Karn said with a smile as he gazed at the love of his life, who was giggling at the joke of Krishn, an involuntary smile tugged at his lips like it did every time he saw her.

Dhrishtadyumn looked at his smiling sister, "I am so happy for you choti."  He said as he cupped her cheeks, she looked at him an adoring smile playing on her lips, "Am I dreaming or my rough and tuff warrior brother is about to get all fussy and emotional?" She teased, amusement and mischief lighting her eyes. Laughter rang in the room as Dhrishtadyumn rolled his eyes, "You are getting more mischievous day by day!" He complained,  "See whose complaining, the one who protects her from the wrath of everyone and even helps her in her mischiefs! You have spoiled her bhraatashree!" Tejveer said playfully, "And you haven't?" Dhri teased back, making Tejveer roll his eyes as he smiled sheepishly. "Cat got your tongue brother!" Shikhandini teased him making Panchaali giggle, "Enough you all. You must behave, this is your younger sister's in law's house. " Gayatri chastised lightly, Drupad's first wife and the queen of Panchaal. "You look so beautiful today. May god protect you from every evil." Gayatri said in awe as she traced some kajal from her eyes and put a dot behind Panchaali's ear, who blushed at her mother's affection.

Renuka smiled as she took her daughter's chin in her fingers and smiled as their gaze met. "How have you been? You know I missed you so much. Panchaal is not same without its Panchaali." She said with watery eyes as she pressed a kiss on her daughter's forehead. Draupadi's throat tightened as her eyes stung with unshed tears as she looked at her mother, who hugged her. "Leave it to this two to make a happy joyous moment a sentimental one." Drupad teased making the daughter and mother laugh as they pulled back. The king of Panchaal held his arms open for his youngest born, "Won't you give a hug to your baba tigress?" He asked with a smile, she nodded and embraced him, he patted her head as he sighed and pressed his lips to her forehead. Having his daughter in his arms after so long was bliss, he rubbed her back in a soothing manner.

"Mata." Ghatotkach's voice had her moving out of her father's arms and turn to look at him, a wide smile spread on her face as shock paralysed her as she looked at him, he looked so handsome.

"You look amazing!" She gushed as she took in his form, he smiled as he looked at his mother. She cupped his cheeks as tears glazed in her eyes, "you look so good." She whispered, he smiled as he wiped her tears, "oh my sweet mata, why are you crying?" He asked softly as he wiped a tear that fell down her eyes. She just shook her head and hugged him, he embraced her back, sighing in content as he felt his mother's touch, nothing could ever compare to the loving embrace of a mother, and she gave the world's best hug.

"You both always forget me." Hidimbi teased making Panchaali and Ghatotkach pull back, they smiled mischievously as Ghatotkach began. "Do you know this lady mata?" He asked pretending to not know Hidimbi as he questioned Panchaali, who smirked as her eyes sparkled with amusement. Hidimbi gasped listening to her son, she looked at him with mock horror, the pandavas and the remaining wives laughed."I don't know, have we seen her before?" Panchaali played along causing Hidimbi to look at her with fake hurt expression on her face. "Traitor!" She exclaimed pointing at Panchaali who bit back a giggle. "So you both don't remember me?" Hidimbi asked, raising her brow, Panchaali and Ghatotkach looked at each other and than back to her, "Nope." They said in unison. "Maybe this will jog your memories." Hidimbi said as she pulled both of their ears, one in each hand making the two whine. "Ouch!ow! Jiji!" Panchaali exclaimed, "Ow mata! Let go!" Ghatotkach pleaded, "Viola! You two remember me now!" She tauted the two making them give her their puppy dog eyes, "Don't you love us?" Panchaali asked with a pout, Ghatotkach copied his mother, "You two are unbelievable!" Bheem stated as he roared in a laughter with others, "arya." Panchaali whined making him chuckle,"let go Hidimbi."  He said making her laugh, Hidimbi hugged Panchaali as the humour settled, "Thank you." She whispered, thanking Draupadi everything, she made this home beautiful and filled it with happiness, changing things forever. . .
