Pedophiles In Our Modern Society

Season 1: In Our Modern Society.
Episode 1: Pedophiles

Pedophile:
Meaning:- A person who is sexually attracted to children.
Pedophilia:
Meaning:- the condition of being sexually attracted to children, sexual activity with children.

Recently, there's been a lot going on in our immediate environment, with parents fearing for the wellbeing of their children and children worrying about themselves because they don't know who the stranger next door is and they're not sure what his or her intentions are.

'This has always been the case', some might say but it is becoming a cause for concern as time passes by.

The very thought of having a pedophile leaving in your neighbourhood might absolutely disgust or terrify you, mostly depending on whatever or whichever experience you may or may not have had with such a person.

But all that brings us down to a couple of simple questions;
Is A Pedophile A Criminal?

Should They Be considered As Threats To Our Ever-Growing Community?

Should Pedophiles Be Given The Right To Express Their Sexuality With The Backing Of The LGBTQIA+ Community?

As far as the words go, the answer should be as simple as 'no'. Anyone being attracted to a child in any way other than adoring or innocent love should be looked down on by society and cast out for such behaviour.

But we have to remember that these are people and just like everyone else, they're looking for a way to just fit in, stand out, belong, or be accepted, and I know for one that shunning them and making them feel any less than a person is not going to help anyone or anything.

Question 1: Is A Pedophile A Criminal?
Answer: {Please note that as this blog has only just started, all answers shall be given based on the opinion of its writer and she shall be very accepting to fruitful arguments, criticism; constructive or otherwise, and anything else that is not intended to attack her personal beliefs; verbally or through any other means}.

If you are living in the United States Of America in this agreeably crazy year; 2020 then there will be no argument to the fact that any person caught engaging in sexual activities with a minor at any period in time shall be charged with {sorry, I don't know what it's called, I'm still new to this so just inline comment if you do, thanks. :)}.

So, in that country and I'm guessing a couple of other countries, it is not something that can be debated on. But in my country and I'm a guessing a couple of others as well, it is still a topic up for debate.

Just to bring forth a scenario, let's say there's a 19 year old girl who has a male best friend four years younger than her, is it okay for them to engage in sexual activities together?

'Hell no, that is wrong in so many ways. First of all, she's a girl and it's absolutely disgusting to even think of doing that with a guy who is still in junior high. Also, he's 15. I mean why would you even think of ****ing a 15-year-old.'

That was the answer I received from someone whose identity shall remain anonymous because of my principles as well as Wattpad guidelines which state that the use of anyone's personal info when creating content is forbidden.

Well, I think there are a lot of things wrong with what the person said but we'll focus on the topic for today.

Generally a minor should not be involved in sexual activities with anyone of any age, but in the account of such a thing happening; specifically with someone who is of the age of adulcy, how should the situation be taken care of?

First of all, we should get the facts straight. Was it the girl who initiated the entanglement or was it the guy? If it was indeed the girl that brought about the problem then we should move on to the next question, did the guy agree? Was he forced? {which would make it a case of rape} or Was he deceived, lured or something like that?

And if it was the guy- Well that's a whole different story for an entirely different topic. {I will be answering be answering questions in the comments section if anyone wants to know my opinions on this}.

If the guy agreed on his own accord then in my opinion, no, this 19 year old girl is not a criminal. She is simply someone who wanted to explore (much like basically everyone her age) and had developed feelings at the wrong time, for the wrong person. {the writer will not be commenting on anyone who believes otherwise until further notice}.

But if the guy was forced then it becomes a case of rape and should be treated accordingly to the law of the state. In this case, the girl is a criminal, not because she was sexually attracted to a guy or acted upon her feelings, but because she harassed him, against his will and forfeited his right to freedom in that particular position.

If he was lured then my answer is yes and no. The girl did it only once (according to the scenario given) but should that be enough to send her to jail to serve a sentence of no less than two years? Absolutely not.

Morally, it was wrong, but then at the same time, with how upside down the world is, you can't really call 'lack of morals', a crime worthy enough to wreak havoc on young girl's life. So, she might deserve being shunned and stigmatized for what she did, but she doesn't deserve to be treated as anything less than a human being.

Simply put, No, A Pedophile Is Not A Criminal.

Question 2: Should They Be considered As Threats To Our Ever-Growing Community?
Answer: Working based on the example given in the answer to Q1 and the answer given, I think it's safe to say, we can all tell where I stand on that.

But for lack of better judgement, I'll break it down just a little.

When we place it on a scale of morals, it's easy to say that such a person is a threat to the values the society tries to develop in children. Not only would such a thing corrupt the very essence of morality, it would also most likely affect the well being of the victim and those around him.

But it would be bias to say that because of that, such a person should be considered a threat. It wouldn't be wrong because everyone is entitled to their opinions but saying that, would mean pointing out all the other very many immoralities in our society and basically, if we are going to attack that young girl (and possibly every other person who will ever do what she did) for a mistake she just might never recover from, then we would have to do the same to everyone else who goes against our moral standards.

That would bring about chaos and war and so many terrible things we can only imagine but never fully understand (and hopefully never have to because that would mean it has happened). No set of people are ever going to completely agree with each other and if we are so okay with attacking one person then we should do to Lola what we did to Zoe.

It's a basic principle.

If we are trying to get the world to a better place, where everyone is a little bit happier and feel even a little bit safer when they step out of their homes then we need to start acting more like a race of human beings and less like how we do right now.

Question 3: Should Pedophiles Be Given The Right To Express Their Sexuality With The Backing Of The LGBTQ+ Community?
Answer: Well, I'm not exactly an active member of this community so I can't exactly speak for them and what they do. But, coming from someone who has had to struggle and is still struggling with self discovery (which includes opening up about my sexuality), I can say that I understand enough to speak on their behalf; just for a little bit.

The LBGTQ Community (from where I stand), is a group of people who have been shut up, brought down, oppressed and so many other terrible things, simply because they are different. They are a family and they depend on each other, they help each other and they are there for one and other. It isn't just about their sexuality, it's about creating a space where people can come, feel safe, make friends and be themselves. It's an escape from the toxicity in the world. It is so much more than just a movement that the world is trying to oppress. It is so much more than that and that is why I admire them so much.

So, when I'm asked if pedophiles should be given the right to express their sexuality, my answer is Yes, and it always will be. They are people with feelings and concepts and everything else that makes them worthy of the very thing the world is trying to steal from them.

I'm not here to answer in place of a group that is way more than me, a family that is more than just one person, but all I know is, if they really are who I think they are, then yes.

Yes, pedophiles should be allowed to express their sexuality with the backing of the LGBTQ community. Because as I said before, they aren't just a movement or a topic up for grabs, they are a family and they give a home to those who have been physically, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually harassed, attacked, or oppressed,

So, if they can extend their hands to just a few more people, then they are doing more than their part in making the world a much more peaceful place for the generation ahead of them.

AUTHOR'S NOTE.
I'm a 14-year-old girl at the time of writing this. I am a very strong-minded young girl with more than enough resources to protect myself. I do not EVER back down without a fight so if you have any ideas to send me death threats {which I'm at this point, well accustomed to}, think again, because nothing phases me.
Honestly, I'm way past the point of being afraid of death {because I've gone through more things than you can imagine} and even I was, I know that if I died because of this, I would die a hero in my eyes and in the eyes I care about, if I die sharing my voice with the world. My grandfather would be proud of me (just for the record to some specific people who know themselves) if he knew that I was following in his footsteps.
I'm not a fan of immorality but I make a pretty wide exception if it's for the sake of defending the defenseless and supporting the very thing we all seem to have lost sight of; HUMANITY.

Thank you for reading.
I will be accepting comments, feedback, criticism. I will be accepting everything so just come at me with your worst, your best and I'll be ready.
Much love,
Your highly opinionated writer,
May.
