Chapter 99
Where the Krishnas shared the emotional moment, the Yadavas gathered on the beach. The liquor that they drank made them lose their senses completely.
They started teasing one another, bringing up the gory pasts and gruesome mistakes of each other. Satyaki and Krithavarma acted as the starting points of the doom of Dwarka. Satyaki had fought on Pandava's side in the battle of Kurukshetr and Krithavarma, on the Kauravas side. They taunted one another, bringing back memories of the horrific war. In a fit of rage, Satyaki, jumped on Krithaverma and cut his head off. The friends of Krithavarma pounced on Satyaki and a great brawl followed.
Pradyumna, the son of Krishna, innocent though he was, found himself in the thick of the fight and was killed. As they have come to the sea shore for a pleasure, they did not carry any weapons along with them. They saw the long grown grass in abundance along the sea shore. They picked up the grass stems and beat and killed each other. Those grass stems are nothing but blades made of the powder of the same lump of Iron born to Samba. Thus the curse of saints fructified.
Each blade of grass became a mace, smashing into the Yadavas, killing them instantly. It was a matter of moments before the Yadavas lay dead, killed by their own clan members and in front of their very King. Krishn stood looking over the pulps of his own family members, his sons, his uncle's, and many other men. His heart sizzled with pain and agony, his soul cried with the pain, he shut his eyes as the agony, the burn flared from within. He shut his eyes as he could no longer see the sight, tears slipping down his cheeks as his face was a mask of utter devastation and agony.
Except Krishn and Rajveer, all Yadavas were killed. Krishna's charioteer Daruka and another one called Babhru only survived. They both approached Sri Krishna and said, tears filled their gazes as they trembled, their voices filled with pain, "O Krishna! All Yadavas are killed. Whereabouts of Balram are not known. It is better to search for him ." he begged.
Balram was in deep meditation under a tree. Krishna went to the place where Balram was sitting and said, his voice quivering with pain and agony, "Bhraata Balram! I will sit in meditation along with you ." he nearly begged but there was no reply from Balram, his heart sunk even further as a loud scream penetrated though his lips, he fell on his knees, utterly destroyed. A long serpent came out of the face of Balram. He left this mortal body. His soul travelled into the sky through the sea. As Balram was the incarnation of Adi Sesh, Nag community welcomed back Balram. He attained Vishnu Lok and joined Vishnu. Krishn saw Balram putting an end to his incarnation. His heart hardened as he sniffed, that time has come for him to leave this world and go back to his original abode, to return to his place back.
Krish started thinking about the ways and means to leave this body. He remembered the words of Rishi Durvasa. Once, as per the wish of saint Durvasa, he applied Payasam (liquid food prepared with milk, sugar and rice) throughout his body. As his legs were resting on ground, he could not apply it to his feet. Durvasa observed it and said: "Krishna! You have not applied Payasam to my foot. Your death is in your foot ." said Saint Durvasa.
Krishn laid down under a tree and went into Yoga Samadhi, his heart filled with pain, "Sakhi." He whispered, his voice laced with pain and agony.
"Sakhi!" Krishn's voice reverberated through Panchaali mind, her heart shuttered to a stop, as she froze, a feeling that she couldn't put in words rushed to her, she turned around, hearing him call her.
Her eyes moved around the room, the pandavas had gone to the shores of Dwarka, to see the massacre that took place there, leaving Panchaali with their children, "Sakhi." She heard the painful whisper again and this time she couldn't stop herself as she ran down the corridors, her heart galloping in her chest as she ran like a crazy woman, tears streaming down her face, she could hear her children calling her, the Krishn patnis calling and running behind her, all that didn't matter, what matter was her sakha. Her sakha, her Krishn, who was in pain and called to her. She ran and ran, pushing herself faster.
At that time a hunter Jara entered that forest. That hunter misunderstood the moving foot of Krishna as a lurking deer and shot a lethal arrow that pierced into Krishna's feet, making Krishn's eyes fly open, "Sakhi!" He whispered again, his voice laced with pain, Panchaali's heart felt a piercing pain like someone had pierced her heart, she ran through the forest, thorns and sharp stones cutting through her legs, making her bleed but nothing stopped her, Krishn was her destination, before that no one could stop her.
As soon as the hunter reached Krishna, he realised his mistake and pleaded the lord for forgiveness. Lord Krishna consoled him and tell him how his death was inevitable. His eyes travelled to the forest around every once in awhile, he could hear her, she was coming.
The man Jara cried sinking in grief and guilt, Krishn smiled at the crying man as he explained that in his previous birth as Ram in the Tretayug, he had killed Vaali (Sugreev's brother) from behind. So, Krishna has now reaped the price for the same through Jara who was king Vaali in his previous birth. If Krishn wanted he could have meditated and left his mortal body but he wanted the world to learn the very important fact that, even for the Ruler of the Universe, the laws of Karma remain the same.
The rustling of the leaves had him turning his head, a calm smile spread through his face, "Like always on time I see." He cloaked out, a strained smiled on his face as he tried to joke, his breathing came out in short pants as sweat ran down his forehand as the poison began to burn him with pain from within, his face was losing it's colour.
Panchaali came to a stop, her body numb as her eyes focused on his face, he was slowly losing the color of his face, he said something, probably cracked a joke, but she couldn't hear past the haze of pain and darkness that she had fallen in. Her heart had grown numb, her soul screaming in pain as she looked at him. She sat on the ground next to his head, she stretched her hand to touch him, her hand and heart trembling in terror and fear.
Something soaked her lehnga, she looked down her white lehnga that now turned a deep red, her eyes moved to his feet, blood so much blood, everything was red, her heart shuttered to a stop, as agony like never before flared to her chest, she felt as though someone had dipped her heart in acid and was now slowly cutting it, shock paralysed her as she stared at the blood. Her throat closed up as her mouth dried, she wanted to say something but nothing left her mouth. She wanted to shout and scream but it was like her own body couldn't follow her commands, all she could do was stare as all she could feel was agony.
"Sakhi." Krishn coughed up blood as his eyes traced her face, he raised his head with great strain and agony as he laid it on her lap making her look down at him. Tears filled her eyes as her face converted in an expression of utter agony and torment as she silently screamed a million questions at him. His heart sizzled seeing her cry, he rubbed his tears away as he breathed heavily, dark spots dancing in his vision as exhaustion weighed heavily on him.
He held his trembling hand out to her, the pain in her heart dissipated as a calmness washes over her, though broken always together, the words rang through her mind, he gave her a genuine smile as she laid her hand in his,she bent over as he brought her hands to his lips, they pressed a kiss on each other together, he on the back of her hand as she kissed his forehead.
"Krishn." She whispered, her voice soft and laced with pain and fear, "Ha Meri Krishna." He whispered back, his voice just as soft, she sat up with her back to the tree trunk her, her eyes looking into his, they held each others gaze captive as she ran her fingers through his hair, he smiled. "Krishna." They whispered together, with their whisper, left their breaths together, freeing them the confines of human body, forever. . .
The Pandavas rushed through the thick forest, the agony and the sizzling them notifying something that they didn't want to believe, they really hoped it wasn't true, how can it be true? They had left her safe and sound with their children.
Their world stop revolving on its axis as they came to a stop, their eyes looking at both the Krishnas, they were there looking at each other but instead of calmness the pandavas felt dead, it was like their souls were pulled out of their body as they drowned in a sea of pain.
The five man walked towards Panchaali, tears tracing down their cheeks as no words left their mouth, they were incapable of saying anything, of feeling anything or even looking at anything except her. Arjun sat beside her, his soul hollow as he laid his head on her shoulder, his one arm going around her waist, Yudhisthir sat on her other side, his head laying on her shoulder as she soul felt heavy with pain, he felt hollow. He wrapped his hand around her waist as he and Arjun nuzzled her neck, tears fell down their eyes but they just felt a hollowness.
Bheem laid his head next to Krishn's, as he looked at the face of the woman he loved, his soul felt empty and surprisingly this emptiness was something that he couldn't lift.
Nakul laid with his head next to Krishn, on his other side, the nothingness and hollowness in his shoulder reverberated painfully through him, numbing him from within.
Sahadev laid his head next to his twin, his eyes staring in the eyes of that one woman who was his everything, without her nothing had meaning, the hollowness in his chest had him throbbing pain.
The Pandavas looked at the face of the woman, who was their everything, before memorising her features to their mind, Yudhisthir and Arjun took her each hand in their, Dhananjay held his free hand out to Sahadev, who wrapped his hand with Arjun, he held his other hand out for Nakul to take, who took it without a thought, Nakul wrapped his free hand on Krishn's one hand as Bheem took Krishn's other hand, Vrikodar held his free hand out to Yudhisthir who took it without a thought.
The five sighed a tear tracing down their cheeks as they shut their eyes, "Panchaali..." The five whispered her name with so much love and devotion, their breaths leaving their bodies as they uttered the name. Krishn and Panchaali's eyes that were once open as they left the world closed on their own, even though their souls have left their bodies way before Pandavas.
Looking at them no one can tell they were no more, Jara still stood there watching everything, he looked at the six men and one woman, they all looked like they were sleeping, peace and calmness masked their features, they looked like they were in a deep slumber, the only difference, they would never wake. . .
