Chapter 59
"Panchaali!" Bheem cried in distress as he entered her room, his face a mask of terror as he looked around, Draupadi jumped from the bed and looked at her husband, their crying baby in his arms, "What happened arya?" she asked distressed as she looked at her husband with worry, he was almost in tears, "She..." His voice was clogged with pain, Panchaali took her crying daughter in her arms and checked her little body for any injury, worry built in her heart as her husband looked crest fallen as he stared at their daughter. "What happened to her arya?!" she nearly shouted, her heart thudding in her chest, worst scenarios began to run through her mind, her heart hammering wildly in her chest as worry built in her chest.
"Panchaali, Panchaali she won't stop crying!" He whined as he tear fell down his cheeks, "HUH?! You're crying because she won't stop crying?!" she asked, her voice laced with shock as she looked at her husband, he nearly gave her a heart attack, making her think of the worst case scenarios, all because of what?! She won't stop crying! She was annoyed and in awe with his love for his daughter, "ARYAAA." She called out annoyed, "What?" he asked innocently, his face still a mask of worry as he looked at the baby in her hands she sighed as she laid the head of her daughter on her shoulder and patted her back, humming a soft sound, the baby instantly stopped crying as she slowly lost herself in the dream world.
"How did you do that?!" he asked surprised as he looked at her with shock, Panchaali smiled as she moved towards him, as she stood on her tiptoes and pressed a kiss to his lips, "Mata putri bond." She teased as she turned around leaving him looking shocked, "But why was she crying?" Bheem whined as he looked at his wife, like she had performed the biggest magic in the world. She laughed, she could no longer hold it in, "What's so funny?!" he whined making her look smile as she patted her Shatanika or Shanu as she like to call him to sleep. "Maybe because she is sleepy arya." she suggested with a smile, "But what is there to cry about it, she cold just sleep." he argued, a frown marring his face as he moved to sit next to his wife who had their daughter in her lap sleeping soundly while her hands patted the heads of his two sons who laid on either side of her on the bed.
"Arya she's just six months old, what do you expect from her?" she questioned as she looked at her husband, who shrugged his shoulder. "Anything, she can gurgle, scream, shout but not cry. She's not supposed to cry ever!" He said determined., his gazed looking at his wife. "Arya she's just a baby, babies cry all the time." she tried to knock some sense in him but it seemed futile as he shook his head, "She's not just some baby Panchaali, she is my daughter! She's not meant to cry ever" he said with a determined voice making her role her eyes, he was now just being ridiculous, she sighed as she patted the head of their little daughter. "Keep those there" She turned her head towards the doors as she heard Arjun's voice, her eyes widened as she watched men carrying boxes after boxes in the room. "Keep them there!" he said with an enthusiastic smile, Panchaali wanted to groan, not again. She thought as she looked at the boxes, "What are this arya?" She questioned as she looked at her husband, he smiled excitedly as he looked at her. She already knew the answer to it, surely some gifts or his daughter, she wanted to laugh, but she held back as she gave him a serious look. "This Panchaali are toys for Printha!" he said enthusiastically,
Draupadi was shocked, "MORE TOYS?! Aryaa you all have already bought her so much toys that it can last for two more lifetimes, I literally had to prepare a bigger room for a six month old because there were not enough space to keep the toys that you gifted, I had to buy four new trunks just so I can keep the clothes that Arya Sahadev has brought, let me not get started on the jewellery that Arya Nakul and Yudhisthir has bought, she has two trunks of jewelry, a baby doesn't need so much jewelry, arya a six month old baby doesn't need so many things. And what's more important is where would I keep this things now?" She questioned as she looked at the trunks, the brothers shared a glance, "She's our daughter." they said simultaneously making her frustrated, are they even serious? She understood their love but where was she supposed to keep all this, Printha was too young for all this things. Day by day the love of panadavas was just increasing for their daughter and she just loved them for that but that didn't mean that she wasn't annoyed at them, she sighed this fathers and daughter are going to be the reason of her death. A smile appeared on her face as she looked a her two husbands, they were gazing at their daughter in her lap with so much love and care, her heart constricted as she recalled the cold gaze her father would look at her with, she sighed as she pushed back those thoughts as she knew it would give her nothing but pain.
She laid Printha delicately on the bed as she got up from the bed, she sighed as she got up, she needed to distract herself, she heard Printha cough and froze, the roomwas drowned in pin drop silence as she turned around, she pressed her lips together as she saw the expression of horror cross the face of her husbands making her bite back a smile as she sat on the couch, and took an apple from the fruit basket and bit it as she mentally counted, 3, 2, 1. Just as she finished the countdown she watched as her husbands shocked bodies moved, amusement filled as she sat on the couch waiting for the drama to begin.
Arjun rushed out of the room, his face one of terror, she wanted to go and pacify him but she knew it was useless, she shook her head as she counted till ten, on the mark of ten the door was bursted open. "What happened to Printha?!" Yudhisthir shouted as he came running out of breath, "She coughed! TWICE!" Bheem nearly shouted all freaked, Dharmraj's face turned into a mask of worry, her eyes travelled to the door, as expected Nakul, Sahadev and Arjun came rushing in. "What happened?!" Nakul and Sahadev asked together making Panchaali roll her eyes. One would expect that since they are ved they would know that babies cough, once or twice, its normal, but nope! When it was Printha common sense was which birds name they didn't know, she smiled as she watched the five hover over the little baby, she rolled her eyes as they prodded and poked her, testing for any sickness. "Arya she's fine. Its normal." She tried once again but like always it was useless. "You don't know that Panchaali." Nakul whispered worried, "And you all do?" She asked raising her brow, humour lacing her words, "Of course we do." Sahadev said confidently, "How come?" she asked her head turning sideways, curious for the answer. "She's our daughter!" the five said together, she wanted to roll her eyes, exactly she was their daughter, not hers? She wanted to laugh, "And I am her mother, I was the one who carried her for nine months. So I know she is fine." She tried once again, "You can't understand this Panchaali, this is father daughter bond, the special bond." Bheem whispered as the five looked at their daughter, their faces held complete devotion and love, his words stung, she knew he didn't mean to hurt it but it did. He was right, how would she know? Her father never really loved her, she shook her head as she pushed the darkness of her thoughts.
"She'll wake up arya." Panchaali said with a smile as she looked up at them, a soft smile on her face, her heart warmed up with love as she watched her husbands interaction with their daughter, the way they treated her with so much love and care. She wished that she had that with her father, she sighed as she looked at them pushing back her tears, she sighed as she looked up her husbands and smiled. With their constant prodding and poking Printha began to cry, the faces of the five paled as they looked at her as they looked at her, she giggled as she watched them all run around her, Nakul's horrible attempt at singing lullaby, Sahadev and Bheem making weird faces as Arjun and Yudhisthir ran around bringing toys around her, showing her how it worked.
"Panchaali!" They all whined as they turned to her she giggled, but the shine of her giggle a bit faded, she sighed as she moved towards them, she smiled as she looked at her daughter, her hand touched her head as she began to hum, her voice soft and soothing making them all look at her. Her cries quietened as Printha smiled as she kicked her little hands and legs making Panchaali smile, her eyes moved to her husbands who were smiling like fools, their eyes fixed at their daughter, for the first time she felt like something was missing, a father, one she could never have. . .
