Chapter 37

"Don't be foolish!" The asur shouted as he watched Panchaali step back, away from him as he held his hand out to touch her. Her anger was flowing through her body like larva, her son was the only thing holding her back. If she was alone maybe she would have been scared, but now with her son in her arms the protective side of her motherhood came flying out."Now come here!" He ordered, making Panchaali clench her fist to stop the flow of energy that was running through her body.

His anger was skyrocketing, this stupid woman had dared to ignore his orders? Who does she think she really is?! This woman had forget that the place of hers is under his shoes and he would teach her this! He thought determined as he glared  at Panchaali.

"What is so difficult to understand about the simple order murkh aurat?!" Shouted the enraged monster when Panchaali refused to listen to him. She stared at him, her hair flying in air around her as her eyes continued to stare at him with anger.

She held onto her patience trying to hold in the larva of fury that was ready to erupt. He moved his hand in front of her, ready to touch her, when her hand shot out and wrapped around his. "If you wish to live than let us go. This is my last warning to you." Her words were laced with a dangerous tone, that had the woman behind her looking at Panchaali with shock. The monster began laughing.

"Oh mata I got scared. Help me!" The asur mocked her as he looked at her, "Huh, women are meant to be under a man's shoe murkha! I will make you my Dasi, this attitude of yours would be nothing but the doormat that I will always walk upon!" He spat the words with so much hate, his manly ego making him blind.

"Don't get so blinded by your ego asur that in attempts to make me a dasi you might end up dead." Her words were screaming warning at him, but he was too blind to see the trouble that he was about to unleash.

"I will show you! I'll kill this b*stard child!" He threatened, as he moved ahead, his hand shot out. The furry erupted as a loud scream left her mouth, but not in pain a fear, it was a battle cry. The woman behind her stepped away trembling. The asur's eyes widened with a bit of fear as he looked at the woman in front of him, he face was marred with so much anger that she literally screamed the word death in that moment.

"Murkh! If a mother has the power to birth her children than she sure can protect them! You think women are weak? Today this woman will be the death of you! And remember you murkh, every time when snakes like you would take the kindness and gentleness of women for weakness and raise their heads to bite, each and every time a woman like me would would step on their heads, crush it, and destroy it! Take our patience for granted and I promise that no one will be able to save you from the wrath of a woman!" She screamed, her voice laced with menace as she glared at him, she took a step ahead and he took one back. Dread was taking it's root in the heart of the asur, he roared as he raised his hand and brought it down with full speed aiming for her cheeks, her hand shot out and wrapped around his wrist.

She gritted her teeth, as she held out her son to the woman who stood behind her, the woman took the little boy in her arms and he instantly began to cry.

The asur tried to use his magical powers but it she soaked in everything, his eyes widened in fear as he looked at her with wide eyes. "I am Yagseni, the fire born princess of Panchaal and queen of Indraprasth. Fire destroys every evil so do you think your powers would work on me!" She screamed making him jump in fear, the temperature of her body began to rise and flames erupted around her. The asur screamed as he tried to run away but her grip on him was steady and strong, he pulled but she didn't relent.

The fire wrapped around her and the asur, he screamed and thrashed as the fire devoured him, his screams piercing the sky with all his might. But she held on, tighter and tighter, while he was burning the fire did nothing to her.

The woman who stood was traumatized, fear like never before wrapped around her like a dark blanket that cloaked every sense. She laid Prativindh on the grassy ground and turned around before running in  the forest.

Draupadi let his hand go as he fell on the ground lifeless, the fire diminished leaving behind a burned body. She shut her eyes as to calm herself, she opened her eyes as she looked at the body. Her stomach crunched as her eyes gazed at the burned and charred flesh, she did this?!

Her heart pummeled as guilt wrapped around her like a  noose chocking her, what had she done?! How could she just kill someone? Prativindh... the thought of him had her turning around, her son was crying on the ground she ran towards him and hugged him to her chest, her worry easing a bit as she kissed all over his face, her worry easing completely.

Her son was safe, the mere thought had her crying in relief."PANCHAALI!" She heard Arjun shout, arms wrapped around her as she turned around and cried in his chest. "Shhhhh everything is good. You're so brave love, I am so proud of you." He whispered in her ears as he tightened one hand around her back and another took their son from her trembling hands.

His eyes travelled to the burned man, he sighed in relief, his family was safe and that was all that mattered. He had been with the villagers asking about the Jarasur who had been killing many woman, one of the villagers had told him that he was in this forest, that's when one of the soldiers had come to tell him that his wife had left for the forest alone.  He recalled how scared as he rode to reach here, all sorts of negative thoughts running to his mind.

He looked up as he heard the thundering of footsteps running towards them, his wife however continued to cry. He sighed as he watched his four brothers come in sight, their faces were marred with fear and anger, they looked around their bodies taut with anger as they fisted their weapons. They visibly relaxed as their eyes finally landed on him, and their wife and child who were safe.

They rushed towards them, Arjun pressed a kiss on her forehead, "Shhhhh little one see everyone is here, you're safe now." He assured as he kissed her forehead once again. Bheem took his son from Arjun and kissed the baby all over, Yudhisthir wrapped his hand around hers as he pulled her out of Arjun's arms and wrapped her in his. She broke down as she sobbed, she could no longer stand, her knees giving out from under her as he wrapped his arms around her and picked her up in his arms in bridal style.

The pandavas began to move towards the chariot that waited for them, the twins sat in first, Nakul took his son from his brother while Sahadev took his wife in his arms and sat in.

The other three followed in and shut the door of the chariot, Bheem pulled the curtains of the windows. The chariot was now completely enclosed, no one can see in or out, giving them the privacy they needed.

The chariot was just made for five people but none of the pandavas were ready to leave their child and wife alone. Nakul patted her head as he sat in between Bheem and Yudhisthir with their wife in his lap. On the opposite side sat Sahadev and Arjun holding the baby.

The enclosed space was cozy and comfy, "Stop crying butterfly." Nakul whispered, he sounded pained, seeing her cry hurt the pandavas more than anything. "Arya..." she hiccupped their name as her tears continued to flow, the pandavas looked at each other, killing someone for the first time was a horrible experience. People could never really get away from that feeling so easily, even after knowing that the person they killed was bad, the guilt of taking a life never really diminished. But what would happen to a person as innocent as Panchaali? The question ate them from within, how would she survive this...
