Chapter 25

"Bheem what happened at the temple?" Yudhisthir asked as he looked at his wife, unlike every day there was no smile on her face and she had instantly went to her room, demanding some alone time.

Bheem shrugged, since she had returned from the temple the he had seen this aura around her, like something had changed. He just couldn't figure out what? Talking to her was not an option.

Bheem snapped his finger and two guards came in, "Get the daasis who went with maharani in the temple." He ordered as he sat on his throne next to his brothers.

Nakul, Sahadev and Arjun entered the throne room, their eyes set on their brothers grim expression. "I have been having a bad feeling, like something has gone wrong." Sahadev said the moment he entered in, his eyes taking in the sad expressions of their brothers.

"Putro? Why is Panchaali not opening her door?" Kunti asked as she entered in,her eyes set on her sons, the feeling of foreboding had sunk in her stomach. What was happening? "She's not opening the door? But why?" Arjun asked confused, worry settling in his heart. What could have happened to her?

The dasi came in and bowed. "What happened in the temple?" Questioned Sahadev, his voice sharp. Something in him told him that whatever it was he was not going to like it at all. None of them are.

The pandavas hearts beat faster and faster with worry, the dasi fidgeted nervously, giving bad news to the royals never ended up good for the servants, she knew that King Yudhisthir was a just man, always following the dharma but everyone knew how much the pandavas loved their wife, it was no secret that queen Panchaali just didn't rule Indraprasth but also ruled the hearts of her five husbands.

"Speak fearlessly. No one here shall harm you." Kunti assured the scared dasi, who nodded and began to narrate the incident of the temple. "So maharani Panchaali vowed that she shall leave Indraprasth and destroy every memory she has of pandavas and Rajmata Kunti if they ever married another." The dasi whispered the last part, her eyes looking at the ground. Not daring to look up.

The air in the throne room suddenly felt heavy, the pandavas and Kunti felt as though the ground under their feet was pulled away. Yudhisthir felt like suddenly his whole world was falling apart,  such a vow? Why would she do that?! His mind was in chaos, this vow had just put not just the love of his life in danger but also his child. His family. Their family. How could she take such a decision? She was his life! How difficult is it for her to understand that?

Arjun's heart burned, there was no other way to explain it, she would destroy their memories? Didn't she care for them? Didn't she care for the moments they spent together? She had put everything on the edge of destruction, what would he do without her? There was no Paarth without his Panchaali. He had no meaning in this world without her. He had no reason to live. Every morning when she woke him, he did because he had a reason to and that reason was because he had her, a new day, a new chance to make more memories with her. A chance to make her smile, a chance to live another day with her.

He would not let fate take her away from him, not now, not when he had made her his, not when they are going to be parents, not now, not ever. He would never marry again. He decided, he never needed a wife other than her but now there was just no one, he was not losing, not at all!

Nakul lost his footing in shock as he heard the vow, she would give up their memories? He shook his head, there was just no way, there was no way he would let her ever do such stupidity. Never! She was his! Theirs! After so many sacrifices and hardships she has been their, and now they wouldn't loose her, how could they?! She was all they had ever lived for, all that he ever lived for!

He felt as though someone was slowly pulling his heart out of his chest, the nerves snapping and pulling while he lost himself to the pain. There was no heart without her, he would be dead. They would all be, she was their soul. How could Nakul ever survive without his Malini? The thought was just so absurd, living a life without his Malini.

Kunti felt like all the air was pulled out of her chest, she could no longer breath. One of her children had taken a vow, a vow that had the capability to destroy her family. She would give up her memories? Her daughter? The one whom she loved more than her own self? How could she even think about living her mother? How would Kunti ever survive? Years back it was her dharm that had chocked her motherhood, but now? Now there was no such dharm binding her, how could she loose her daughter? Her little girl? Her Malini? She may not given birth to her but she was the one who brought her up like her very own child. She did and now the fate had designed a way where she could loose her child again? What was this? A game of fates?

Bheem's heart broke, as he heard the words, how could he let that happen?  He was there, he should have stopped her. What if she left? "Panchaali will have to break her vow!" Bheem said angrily as he growled, he was not leaving any chance of her getting away from there. There was just no way that he would loose her again, he would die. The anger was just the facade to mask the pain that was thrumming in his chest, that it was making it impossible for him to breath without it hurting.

Sahadev looked at the floor, his eyes filled with pain and anger. He shit his eyes as a sharp zing of pain ran throughout his heart, threatening to break it. What sort of vow was this? What was she thinking? How could she take such a decision without consulting them?!

Her life was not just hers, she was their wife! Their life! His life! And how could she take such a decision when she was standing on the edge of motherhood? What would happen to their child? Would she take them too? What did she risk all this for? Another marriage of her husbands?

She ruled their hearts, their souls. They would never marry another, didn't she have faith in them that she had to take such a vow? When had they ever done something to hurt her? That she thought that they would do it now by marrying another? His heart was burning, he felt chocked at the thought of not having his wife around him, there was no way that he could ever survive without her. She was all that he had, and he never wanted to loose her. She was the mother of their child, how could she ever threaten to loose everything by giving such a promise. How?!

Kunti couldn't take it anymore, the thoughts were revolving around her mind, her breathing came in short pants. Dark spots danced in her vision and suddenly darkness wrapped her in its ugly arms making her loose consciousness. Nakul wrapped his arms around his mother as the other pandavas came rushing towards their mata. "Mata!" They shouted, as they rushed towards her, dread pummeling their chest while helplessness surrounded them, what was happening in their lives. . .

Draupadi's POV:

I shut my eyes as the words of Mata Vidhi kept reverberating in my mind.
Their dharma would be the cause of your destruction and demise. The words ran through my mind. Each pandav will marry another! Her voice screamed in my mind cutting open my chest, my heart bleeding and breaking silently.

No they wouldn't! They wouldn't do that to me! The mere thought of their marriage had me feeling dead, there was no way. I had given up my whole life for them, made so many sacrifices, surely this won't be how they would pay me. Would they?

Right now, nothing seemed right or wrong to me, all that I could feel was pain. A pain so deep that made me forget everything but the constant agony. Slowly piece by piece of my heart was being torn, being teared into pieces. Mata Vidhi's words had always turned out to be true, if that is what fate had in store for me, than I need to be strong. If the mere thought of it happening is killing me hundred times what shall I do when it actually happens? How would I survive it? How?

The thoughts were too much, the pain was too much, everything was overwhelming. I felt short of breath and dark spots began to dance in my vision, I blinked trying to hold back this dizziness, but with every moment they just increased. My heart began to beat faster, my breathing came out in short pants as panic began to overwhelm me, everything was just too much to handle. I felt suffocated, as though I was being chocked. I pushed myself to stand up, my legs unsteady as the world around me began to tilt on its axis. I tried to catch hold of things around me but in vain. As the ebony blanket of darkness wrapped around me, taking me to a world where nothing hurt, nothing pained, just numbness existed. . .
